AMC Stubs A-list prices jump again as theatergoers consider other options

Starting July 15, the chain’s iconic movie subscription membership will cost $29.99 each month, which is a $2 increase from the last price hike in May 2025. Last year’s price hike came as the subscription increased the number of movies you can see per week from three to four. However, this time around, the perks are staying the same: A-Listers can see up to four movies each week in every format, get free upgrades on movie snacks and earn rewards for every $50 spent. AMC CEO Adam Aron explained in an email to subscribers Wednesday that the price increase is due to rising costs of keeping theaters open. “We have …

‘White Lotus’ Season 4 Will Use Cannes Film Festival as Backdrop

‘White Lotus’ Season 4 Will Use Cannes Film Festival as Backdrop

Production on season four of The White Lotus has started in France, and HBO has released a tantalizing detail about the show. As has been the case in the previous three seasons, the Mike White-created series will follow guests and staff at the luxury hotel chain where people keep getting murdered over the course of a week. That week, HBO says, will be set during the Cannes Film Festival. Whether the show uses this year’s actual festival, which runs from May 12-23, as a backdrop remains to be seen; HBO declined comment on whether the show would film at the festival. Also of note: The season will feature two White Lotus hotels, the first time White and Co. have had more than one property as a focus. The Airelles Château de la Messardière in Saint-Tropez will be the White Lotus du Cap, and the historic Hotel Martinez on the Croisette will stand in as the White Lotus Cannes. The season will film primarily in Cannes, Saint-Tropez and Monaco. Some filming will also take place in …

French film show: Sweet nostalgia in 1980s coming-of-age story ‘Just an Illusion’ – arts24

French film show: Sweet nostalgia in 1980s coming-of-age story ‘Just an Illusion’ – arts24

Film critic Manon Kerjean tells us why “Just an Illusion” is more than just a tender study of young teenagers’ first love, and how its retro décor and timely themes add weight to a family dynamic with Camille Cottin and Louis Garrel taking on parental roles. We also check out offbeat romance “The Doll”, starring Vincent Macaigne, Cécile de France and newcomer Zoé Marchal. Manon tells us why, despite its unlikely premise, the film makes some pertinent points about gender roles and loneliness, while delivering plenty of laughs. The true story of Philippe Croizon, a paraplegic who swam the English Channel, is brought to the screen in “For Better or Worse”, with para-athlete Pierre Rabine in the lead role. Plus we dip into Claire Denis’s latest film “The Fence” as the director depicts the tensions brewing on a construction site in West Africa. Source link

Intimacy Coordinator Reveals What Happens When An Actor Becomes Aroused While Filming Sex Scenes

Intimacy Coordinator Reveals What Happens When An Actor Becomes Aroused While Filming Sex Scenes

When filmed right, a sex scene can be incredibly steamy and really enhance the viewing experience, especially if you’re already heavily invested in the characters. For example, is there anything better in a romcom than the will-they-won’t-they couple finally coming to their senses and racing to the bedroom for a passionate evening in the sheets? I think not. In fact, these scenes can be so believable that it’s hard to believe that the actors aren’t actually going at it. How do you stay un-aroused while filming these scenes? How do you go back to talking normally to the co-star once the scene is complete? Well, there’s a lot to it. How do actors avoid getting turned on when filming sex scenes? While these scenes are hot as hell to us, the behind-the-scenes filming is… not so much. According to Backstage, there are a number of measures in place to ensure the safety and comfort of the actors, as well as choreography. Basically, the scenes may SEEM very real to us but there is so much …

On Tuesday night, production company Warner Bros. shared new information about what fans should expect from the new movie spin-off at CinemaCon. Film Shoots Declined in U.S. This Year, Except In New Jersey

Film Shoots Declined in U.S. This Year, Except In New Jersey

Across the United States, the volume of movie and TV on-location production filming slowed in the first quarter of this year, with one state marking an exception: New Jersey. The Garden State made gains in both filming count (up 45 percent year-over-year) as well as production spend (up 37 percent), while other major markets either saw declines or were relatively flat, according to production intelligence platform ProdPro’s quarterly report released on Tuesday. The tracking firm attributes New Jersey’s gains to a “surge in episodic activity” as more series shoot in the state that’s been deemed “Hollywood East” due to its mix of tax incentives, studio infrastructure and available crew. And that’s before a trio of major studio complexes are even completed. Netflix is investing $1 billion to build its East coast base with 12 soundstages at the former site of Fort Monmouth, New Jersey. Paramount inked a 10-year lease in October to occupy 85,000 square feet of the in-construction 1888 Studios in Bayonne, while Lionsgate is set as the anchor tenant of Great Point Studios in …

The stunning physics of Project Hail Mary go back to ancient China

The stunning physics of Project Hail Mary go back to ancient China

Ryan Gosling stars as Ryland Grace in Project Hail Mary Jonathan Olley / Amazon Content Services LLC Part-way through watching Project Hail Mary in a full IMAX theatre, I let out a solitary gasp. Wondering why nobody else was shocked about what I had just seen, I realised it was because I am a physicist. Let me explain, with an extremely mild spoiler: there’s a scene in the middle of the film where the Hail Mary spaceship suddenly lurches forward. Ryan Gosling’s character, Ryland Grace, is not strapped into his seat and his head smacks sideways into the screens in front of him. If this had been real, he would have certainly died. Of course, I see films all the time where people get thrown around and punched in the face and dropped from heights that would shatter their bodies, but they survive. Usually, I am able to suspend disbelief. What made this viewing experience different was the careful attention to getting the science of motion in outer space right. Instead of asking their science …

Brian Cox never thought he’d direct a film “in a million years” before Glenrothan

Brian Cox never thought he’d direct a film “in a million years” before Glenrothan

In his long acting career, Brian Cox has appeared in a very impressive array of films and TV shows. But despite having previously directed for the stage, it’s taken him until now – at the ripe old age of 79 – to step behind the camera and helm a screen project. His directorial debut is Glenrothan, a sentimental, Scotland set drama about two estranged brothers, played by Cox himself and Alan Cumming, who are reunited after several decades apart. Cox stars as Sandy, the owner of a whisky distillery who has never moved away from his (fictional) home town, while Cumming is Donal, who has been residing in Chicago for the past 35 years but – after a disaster – decides the time is finally right to return to Scotland and possibly even make amends with his brother. Ahead of release, Radio Times spoke exclusively to Cox about what drove him to direct – and it turned out it wasn’t something that had been especially high on his own bucket list. “Blame that man over …

Woman accused of murdering film director sister and stealing her Rolex felt unappreciated, court hears | UK News

A woman accused of cutting her sister’s throat and stealing her diamond-encrusted Rolex felt “unappreciated” by her, a court has heard. Nancy Pexton, 70, allegedly stabbed and slashed her sibling, Jennifer Abbott, at her flat in Camden in north London on 10 June last year. Ms Abbott, a film director, was found dead by a neighbour on the floor of her living room with gaffer tape over her mouth three days later. Ms Abbott’s son Brad Carlson told jurors at the Old Bailey on Tuesday about the “bubbling” resentment between his mother and aunt. Over video-link, he told the court he had received several messages from Pexton expressing her “anger and resentment and furiousness” towards Ms Abbott. Mr Carlson added: “She was angry – I think there was at times a feeling of disrespect. “I think a feeling that she was unappreciated and that my mother had not shown gratitude for some of the things Nancy had done and been there for her,” he said. Mr Carlson, who bought his mother the Rolex, said he …
