Ladder to the Moon | Fiona Sze-Lorrain

after Georgia O’Keeffe, 1958                      Soaked in the information of stillness, I found the moon too chaste—cut at the sourceof its language.                                                    Night, green with blue:ready for the ladder’s famebefore mountains turned                into an idée fixe. Months into my sea               psyche, I still wake up                with this land in my head—cornered somewhere, missing a wall                                                         or some edge, a ladder shows up         lighter than its own breath. Fiona Bruce’s jaw dropped when she was confronted by how left-wing and anti-war the audience (Image: BBC) This is the moment when BBC stalwart Fiona Bruce’s jaw dropped when she was confronted by how left-wing and anti-war the audience at a particular British city were. After a one-sided debate by the Kettering audience on the merits of Trump’s action in Iran, specifically a question on “Why are we being dragged into war without a plan?”, Bruce asked for a show of hands based on whether “This is a war Britain should be getting involved with?” She was flabbergasted when only around six brave souls put their hands up, out of around one hundred audience members in shot. Bruce was left spluttering: “OK, a handful I would say, not many.” Bruce quickly turned to Iran expert Shashank Joshi of the Royal United Services Institute think tank and asked where he sees the conflict going in terms of regime change. “The entire leadership has been obliterated, it’s in complete tumult. You saw Trump say we have identified …

‘Britain’s loneliest sheep’, Fiona, gives birth for first time | UK News

“Britain’s loneliest sheep” has given birth for the first time. Fiona won hearts across the globe when she was rescued from the foot of a steep coastal cliff close to the Cromarty Firth in the Scottish Highlands in 2023. Kayaker Jill Turner first spotted the stranded ewe in 2021 and then raised the alarm when she saw her on her own again two years later – which led to Fiona being dubbed “Britain’s loneliest sheep”. Fiona was winched to safety during a daring rescue mission and taken into the care of Dalscone Farm in Dumfries. The farm said she had now traded her title for “world’s best mum” after giving birth to two healthy lambs – a boy and a girl – on Tuesday night. Image: Pic: Dalscone Farm Dalscone Farm manager Ben Best told Sky News a vet was on hand to help Fiona give birth and she has since taken to her new role amazingly well after her nine-hour labour.
