Bunny Guinness: My favourite gardening tools

Bunny Guinness: My favourite gardening tools

Having hit the big 70, I am determined to maintain my garden with two days of work a week. One from me and a second from Dave, who helps me keep things in shape. The huge advantage in my favour is the massive surge in great tools and techniques, which reduce the time required from me. Over the last 50 years of gardening, my favourite tools have changed dramatically. My biggest time saver is the robot lawn mower. I love almost all aspects of gardening, but starting mowers, cleaning spark plugs and emptying the box are all more of a chore than a joy. Their carbon footprint is also staggering. Here I share the ten essentials categories and items I consider worth investing in for every gardener. If you don’t like gardening in inclement weather, you are in the wrong clothes. The Genus Three-Season Gardening Trousers (£159) have built in kneepads, useful pockets and they are in a cut that allows for easy movement. They keep me snug but not sweaty and have transformed my …

House of Guinness star in first look at possible Killing Eve prequel

House of Guinness star in first look at possible Killing Eve prequel

The BBC has revealed first-look images of its upcoming “flirty” and “dangerous” spy thriller Honey, which is rumoured to be a Killing Eve prequel chronicling the early years of Carolyn Martens (Fiona Shaw). A co-production with Germany’s public service broadcaster ZDF, Honey stars Ann Skelly (House of Guinness) as an undercover MI6 agent in 1980s-era East Berlin, who finds herself in a most unexpected love triangle. The synopsis, courtesy of the BBC, teases that Martha (Skelly) will find her allegiances torn between the Stasi’s head of counterespionage Friedrich Bauman (Jannis Niewöhner) and “reckless, arrogant” CIA operative Aaron Neeland (Nate Mann). “She is blind-sided by desire in this Cold War menage-a-trois,” it continues. “The risk of being garrotted or incarcerated is nothing compared to the horrifying ordeal of falling in love. Nate Mann stars in Honey. BBC / Sid Gentle Films “Allowing yourself to be vulnerable and baring your heart and soul? She’d rather have her fingernails pulled out.” Last year, shortly after the show’s announcement, Deadline reported that Honey was secretly a prequel to Killing Eve …

Guinness Open Gate Brewery, London WC2: ‘Absolute “will-this-do?” nonsense’ – restaurant review | Restaurants

Guinness Open Gate Brewery, London WC2: ‘Absolute “will-this-do?” nonsense’ – restaurant review | Restaurants

The new Guinness Open Gate Brewery, with its tours, gift shop and dining options, has appeared in Covent Garden, slap-bang in the centre of London’s most nosebleedingly expensive real estate. This multi-multi-million-pound paean to “the black stuff”, where Guinness disciples can make pilgrimage, has been on the capital’s horizon for what seems like an era. The project has been tantalisingly dangled as an opening for some years, then delayed umpteen times, because, quite understandably, erecting a purpose-built, gargantuan, multi-floor Willy Wonka’s Booze Factory in the West End of London for a corporate behemoth is no easy feat. Imagine the layers of global, bureaucratic, cross-platform multi-media team Zooms that had to happen to hone the ultimate Guinness experience. So many Is to dot and Ts to cross, particularly, because food is a central part of the venture, with two restaurants on site – The Porter’s Table and Gilroy’s Loft – where exec chef Pip Lacey is serving non-challenging yet hearty menus, as well as a courtyard pie stall by Calum Franklin. Safe bet: the ‘soft, crusty, …

Father and son reclaim Guinness World Record for fastest quadcopter drone

Get the Popular Science daily newsletter💡 Breakthroughs, discoveries, and DIY tips sent every weekday. A YouTuber and his father have once again reclaimed the Guinness World Record for fastest quadcopter drone. Soaring through the air at an average speed of 408 miles per hour, Luke and Mike Bell’s Peregrine 4 highlights the latest intersection between engineering, creativity, and 3D-printing technology. The Bells’ achievement arrives barely a month after Australian aerospace engineer Ben Biggs and his Blackbird drone set the now-previous world record at 389 mph. THE RETURN – World’s FASTEST Drone V4 According to Luke Bell’s recent video update, he and his father have spent the past five months improving “every aspect” of their Peregrine design through a combination of simulation runs, stress tests, and equipment experimentation. This time around, they built much of their drone frame using a Bambu Lab H2D dual-extruder 3D-printer. This allowed them to print Peregrine 4’s main body, camera mount, and landing system as a single, unified component. “That gave us smoother aerodynamics and a much higher surface finish quality …

Steven Knight hints at House of Guinness renewal, reflects on response

Steven Knight hints at House of Guinness renewal, reflects on response

Netflix period drama series House of Guinness proved hugely popular when it debuted earlier this year, and ever since fans have been waiting for news on the show’s future – especially given the dramatic cliffhanger season 1 ended on. Now, speaking exclusively for our video interview series The Radio Times Writers’ Room, in which we get to know what makes screenwriters tick, creator Steven Knight has reacted to the fan response the series saw, calling it “fantastic”. “I’m really, really pleased that, first of all, the cast was so fantastic, and I’m pleased on behalf of them, because it’s sort of a generation of fantastic actors,” Knight said. “But to see the response was wonderful. I mean, across the globe. So really pleased with that. And… yeah.” Knight notably cut himself off at the end, after which he was asked whether there was any update on the future of the series and a potential season 2. “I was just gonna say, I was about to continue then, but I’m not,” Knight said. “I can’t speak …
