Nicole Kidman says she’s seen the public response to her training to become a death doula, but she finds the act of supporting people and their families in their final moments together “beautiful” and “very important to me.” “I did this talk recently where I said I’m expanding into learning to be a death doula, which seemed to have people confused or intrigued,” the actress and producer told a Philadelphia audience at the Marian Anderson Hall at the Kimmel Center on Saturday as part of HISTORYTalks 2026, a live speaker series produced by The History Channel.  After describing wanting to help people and families be present and navigate their final moments together, she described the work of a death doula as “really fascinating. The California-based dermatologist, known for her popular TLC reality series, Dr. Pimple Popper, recently revealed she suffered an ischemic stroke while filming the second season of her Lifetime show, Dr. Pimple Popper: Breaking Out. In an interview with People, Lee, 55, opened up about the realization she had as a result of the medical episode. “It helped remind me like, ‘Look, I’ve got to take better care of myself and I really have to enjoy the time with my family and my friends,’” Lee said. On 22 March 2017, trauma surgeon Shehan Hettiaratchy was running end-of-term exams for his medical students when his phone buzzed. There had been a terror attack near the Houses of Parliament. A man had driven into pedestrians on Westminster Bridge, then started stabbing people on the street. Within minutes, Hettiaratchy was in a car with a colleague and heading to St Mary’s hospital near Paddington, west London, where he is the lead surgeon. Victims injured in the attack were due to arrive. Though Hettiaratchy and his team were used to treating patients with life-threatening injuries – on paper, he says, what they were facing was no different from “a busy Saturday night” – this felt different. Netflix has produced plenty of historical dramas over the years, from The Crown to When They See Us, and many fans have been tuning in to the streaming giant’s latest story, Lead Children. The drama was released earlier in the week, and it has already climbed to the seventh spot of the Netflix’s charts in the UK. Lead Children has been compared to Chernobyl and Toxic Town as it follows Dr Jolanta Wadowska-Król, a Polish doctor who becomes concerned about the spate of children falling ill from lead poisoning due to a nearby smelter. A book, which carries the same name as the drama, was published that focuses on Jolanta’s heroic endeavours. The synopsis for the show reads: “The series tells the story of a young doctor, Jolanta Wadowska-Król, who notices that children living near the Szopienice Steelworks are massively falling ill with lead poisoning, a disease caused by heavy metal contamination. Kelsey Parker, widow of late The Wanted singer Tom Parker, has told Sky News she experienced “harrowing” care after her son was stillborn. Ms Parker, 35, announced the loss of her baby Phoenix, who she expected with new partner Will, in June last year. The mother-of-two has now spoken to The UK Tonight With Sarah-Jane Mee, where she described the devastation suffered after going into labour and giving birth at home at 39 weeks.
