Pizza Movie’s Surprising Homage to Chalamet for Hulu Movie

Pizza Movie’s Surprising Homage to Chalamet for Hulu Movie

[This story contains spoilers for Pizza Movie.] Nick Kocher and Brian McElhaney, the creative duo known as BriTANick, are keenly aware that a movie called Pizza Movie is not the most compelling title for their now well-received feature directorial debut. The former SNL writers hemmed and hawed over what to name their “stoner comedy for theater kids” starring Stranger Things’ Gaten Matarazzo, until the internal working title of Untitled Pizza Movie officially became Pizza Movie.  It’s weirdly on-brand for the Atlanta natives and NYU classmates considering they also struggled to name their sketch comedy partnership two decades ago. They settled on the fusion of Brian, Nick and the word Titanic. (If you’re a devout reader of my byline, then you might recognize Nick from one of the 21st century’s most remarkably honest images.) The title only endeared itself to Kocher and McElhaney when they wrote a joke about it that pays off in the most unexpected way. I won’t give the game away here, but they do get into the weeds of it during the subsequent …

A loving homage to pop culture’s also-rans: best podcasts of the week | Television & radio

Pick of the weekRemember Me? With Maisie Adam & Scott Bryan It’s all too easy to sneer at pop culture’s also-rans. This series from comic Maisie Adam and journalist Scott Bryan does the opposite, embracing people who found sudden fame – mostly in the 90s and 00s – and telling their stories with humour and care. Guests include Liberty X’s Kelli Young, who thinks she and her bandmates were seen as “too R&B” to win ITV’s Popstars – and is surprisingly grateful to the funk band who sued them. Olympic Figure Skater Isabeau Levito Pays Homage to Sophia Loren at the Winter Olympics 2026

Olympic Figure Skater Isabeau Levito Pays Homage to Sophia Loren at the Winter Olympics 2026

Isabeau Levito has realized the dream she has cherished since childhood: skating in the 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympics. For her, competing in Italy is a homecoming of sorts. Born and raised in the United States, the 18-year-old Levito has Italian origins; her mother, a biologist who in the late 1970s chose to change her life by moving overseas, was born in Italy, and her grandmother and other close relatives also live in Brianza, a few kilometers away from the ice skating arena. Levito, a former US national champion in 2023 and silver medalist at the World Championships in 2024, brings a signature lightness and grace to the ice. But she also paid homage to her Italian origins by emulating Italian screen star Sophia Loren. In her Olympic debut with the short program, Levito performed to a medley of two songs: “Almost in Your Arms” from the film A Husband for Cynthia, which Loren sings alongside Cary Grant, and La Miliardaria, a song with a more upbeat rhythm and sharper movements. Isabeau Levito channels Sophia …

I paid homage to David Bowie on a special Soho staycation with a rock’n’roll twist

I paid homage to David Bowie on a special Soho staycation with a rock’n’roll twist

As the world stopped to mourn David Bowie’s passing, 10 January 2016 seemed to mark the day the music died. Ten years later, however, rock’n’roll is still very much alive in a corner of Soho that boasts a proud musical legacy. The Sex Pistols once lived in Denmark Street, the Rolling Stones recorded in the area and Bowie hung out here, helping to establish a heritage that’s still visible in the numerous guitar shops that have long packed this compact street’s 100-yard length. Now, Chateau Denmark is providing the ideal way to soak up the neighbourhood’s rich history, offering 44 apartments and rooms across 16 buildings on Denmark Street, all imaginatively crafted to bring a rock’n’roll twist to the luxury London hotel. Chateau Denmark provides a luxe sanctuary in Soho Whether you’re a native of the capital or simply visiting, it’s an ideal base from which to explore Soho, whether you fancy taking in world-class art at the nearby National Gallery or perusing the big brands and unique boutiques of Covent Garden. There’s also a …

Artist and chef Natalia Pereira pays homage to a coffee ritual in Brazil

Artist and chef Natalia Pereira pays homage to a coffee ritual in Brazil

This story is part of Image’s November Kinship issue, celebrating L.A.’s generous spirit and the artistic collaborations that happen among family and friends. O café é uma linguagem espiritual. Coffee is a spiritual language. Growing up in the Minas Gerais region of Brazil, I was fortunate to be in contact with coffee’s source. We had one beautiful tree, and I remember the flowers and the birth of the bean as it would grow and turn red. I love the transformation. The sweet and the bitter. In Brazil, the café das duas is a moment to pause and celebrate. Setting up consists of opening the old crystal cabinet, reaching for heirloom tablecloths, cutlery and special cups. The best seat is for the guest. (Courtesy of Natalia Pereira) The gathering might celebrate: A visit to a newborn. Someone in bed rest. Out-of-town visitors. The unexpected neighbor. Sophisticated sweet bites made from grains of corn are also displayed. Roots get shredded, milk turns to cheese, wood burns. Coffee is made. The aroma is recognizable no matter where. Café …
