American Music Honors bridges generations as Springsteen Center expands its vision

American Music Honors bridges generations as Springsteen Center expands its vision

Now in its fourth year, the American Music Honors convened on Saturday evening at Monmouth University in fine style. Presented by the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music, the annual event honors American artists who have achieved excellence as musicians, while also championing creative and social integrity. This year’s class included Dionne Warwick, Dr. Dre, the Doors, the E Street Band, and Patti Smith, along with posthumous honors for The Band. The night concluded with a stirring rendition of Smith’s anthemic “People Have the Power” led by Springsteen and the event’s star-studded group of inductees. Held at the Jersey Shore University’s Pollak Theatre, the American Music Honors were hosted by television journalist Brian Williams. The annual ceremony is the brainchild of visionary music industry veteran Bob Santelli, the Executive Director of the Bruce Springsteen Center for American Music, whose leadership has been behind some of the nation’s most vaunted institutions, including the Grammy Museum, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and the Experience Music Project. Under Santelli’s leadership, the Center will be opening its …

Apple Store Becomes Backdrop for Honor’s Brazen Hong Kong Ad Stunt

Apple Store Becomes Backdrop for Honor’s Brazen Hong Kong Ad Stunt

Photos have been making the rounds on Chinese social media today showing an Honor-branded advertising truck parked directly in front of Apple Canton Road store in Hong Kong, promoting the company’s new Honor 600 series smartphone. The truck’s ad features the slogan “It’s our HONOR” alongside the phrase “orange to orange,” which appears to be a play on the English idiom “apples to apples” – referring to a like-for-like comparison. The slogan is paired with an image of the Honor phone, in a finish that bears more than a passing resemblance to the iPhone 17 Pro’s Cosmic Orange. It’s a brazen stunt for a brand that spun off from Huawei in 2020 before being sold off to another entity to bypass U.S. sanctions. Using Apple’s retail store as a backdrop to pitch your rival device with a similar color is one thing, but when the design is arguably a shameless copy, you’re definitely out of ideas. Apple is unlikely to make a big stink about such guerrilla marketing, as it would only amplify it. And …

2026 Social Impact Summit Honors Kenneth Cole and Selena Gomez

2026 Social Impact Summit Honors Kenneth Cole and Selena Gomez

Kenneth Cole and Selena Gomez were honored at the 2026 Social Impact Summit, the first outing of the Social Impact Fund to focus on fashion and beauty philanthropy, where speakers and panelists shared insight on topics from the importance of creative diversity to why college isn’t the only pathway to a career in the industry. Veteran fashion and accessories designer Kenneth Cole was honored with the Social Impact Fund’s Excellence in Fashion Philanthropy Award by Michael Atmore, editor-in-chief of Women’s Wear Daily, in front of an audience full of VIPS, Fashion Institute of Technology students and fashion and beauty execs inside FIT’s theater. In 1985 — more than 40 years ago — Cole started a very witty ad campaign in support of HIV/AIDS research and charities. He was the first person in fashion to launch a full-scale philanthropic ad campaign, which led the way for many others. “At the time I started,” Cole told Atmore as part of an onstage Q&A, “AIDS was already pervasive, but no one was talking about it. I don’t think we could …

New stamp honors Yellowstone’s iconic bison

Get the Popular Science daily newsletter💡 Breakthroughs, discoveries, and DIY tips sent six days a week. It’s a warm July day in Yellowstone National Park’s grassy Hayden Valley and wildlife photographer Tom Murphy is tracking herds of chocolate-colored bison gathered for the annual breeding season. He eventually spots a young male, not yet old enough to compete in the often-violent bison rut. Amid the racket of bison roars, Murphy snaps a photograph of the lone bull, peeking up over a hill at the clamor of male bison seeking their mates.  This nearly 20-year-old image of the young American bison (Bison bison) is just one photograph from Murphy’s career, which spans countless photographs across thousands of miles of Yellowstone. That young bull gazing up at the rest of his herd, and Murphy’s lifelong love of the park, will now be featured on a United States postage stamp as a symbol of the national mammal’s endurance.  The famous bison photo taken in the early 2000s that will soon be on an U.S. postage stamp. U.S. Postal Service honors lowrider community in new forever stamp collection

The United States Postal Service will issue commemorative postage stamps celebrating lowriders. The new set, out Friday, celebrates a counterculture movement rooted in the 1940s working-class Mexican American/Chicano communities of the American Southwest. Featured in the collection are five models: a blue 1958 Chevrolet Impala named “Eight Figures;” an orange 1964 Chevrolet Impala named “the Golden Rose”; a green 1987 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme named “Pocket Change”; a blue 1946 Chevrolet Fleetline named “Let the Good Times Roll/Soy Como Soy”; and a red 1963 Chevrolet Impala named “El Rey.” Antonio Alcalá, an art director for USPS, designed the stamps using existing photographs by Humberto “Beto” Mendoza — editor in chief of Centerfoldz Magazine — and Philip Gordon. Danny Alvarado added the pinstripes to the stamps. “ I’m gonna buy my stamps, but I’m never giving ‘em away,” said Jovita Arellano, president of the United Lowrider Coalition. “ I wanna keep ‘em, they’re forever for me.” Each individual lowrider vehicle showcases its own unique art, meant to be displayed in public spaces or cruising low and slow down the …

Honor’s new Robot Phone dances to music and talks to you

Honor’s new Robot Phone dances to music and talks to you

Putting a gimbal (the motorised arm) in a phone doesn’t immediately make it a robot. That comes from the sort of sentience it offers. Rather than just using the camera to take pictures, it’s as much a way to control the phone as it is a method of capture, with the AI behind the camera giving it a level of personality. That’s the robot part. Phones have been moving towards a more personalised experience over the past few years, with the learning ability of AI allowing for responses that are specific to you. Apps like ChatGPT and Gemini enable long conversations to develop ideas, while also recognising what the camera can see. Honor makes it more interactive, with the camera making its own physical movements that reflect what it can see and what you’re doing. At a basic level, that includes following your face so that you’re always in the frame of a video call. The camera can also dance along to music, nod, shake and look around. What can the Honor Robot Phone actually …

Seth Rogen Honors “Genius” Catherine O’Hara at Actor Awards

Seth Rogen Honors “Genius” Catherine O’Hara at Actor Awards

Catherine O’Hara’s illustrious career was given a warm send-off at the Actor Awards 2026 when the performer posthumously won the award for best female actor in a comedy series. The Canadian comedy icon, who died on Jan. 30, starred in the first season of The Studio as Patty Leigh, a former studio head who becomes a producer after being pushed out of her high-level executive job. Seth Rogen, the co-creator and star of The Studio, accepted the award on his costar’s behalf, sharing some warm memories of working with her. “Something I’ve been marveling over the past few weeks was her ability to be generous and kind and gracious while never ever minimizing her own talents, and her own ability to contribute to the work we were doing,” he said. “She knew she could destroy, and she wanted to destroy every day on set.” Onstage, Rogen also revealed that O’Hara would often email Rogen and co-creator Evan Goldberg with notes on a scene they were about to shoot—and sometimes a complete rewrite. He described how …

Silvana Armani Honors a Fashion Dynasty With Fluid, Essential Collection During Milan Fashion Week

MILAN (AP) — Giorgio Armani’s niece Silvana Armani took up her uncle’s mantle with quiet confidence, presenting the first signature collection without the input of the iconic founding designer to close Milan Fashion Week on Sunday. Actor Andie MacDowell, 67, was among the front-row guests for a show that represented a new chapter for the Giorgio Armani fashion group, following the designer’s death Sept. 4 at age 91. “One of the things that is really important to me is representing women of a certain age, and showing that we still are fashionable and powerful and strong, and we enjoy life and looking beautiful,’’ MacDowell said as she arrived for the show wearing a dark Armani suit with a three-dimensional rose detail. “I love this because I was born Rosalie Anderson MacDowell, and I thought this suit was made for me. It makes me feel really elegant,” she said. The Giorgio Armani women’s winter wardrobe for next fall and winter was fluid, essential and wholly contemporary, expressing the fashion house’s essence. To point, there was no …
