In a state lawsuit filed Sunday, Leslie Kuhn, who began working for Stern in 2022 as his office manager at SiriusXM, says she was made the shock jock’s executive assistant the following year, and relocated to Southampton, New York, in 2024 – at the pair’s request – to provide “assistance with such things as managing the staff of the mansion, setting staffing schedules, completing staff payroll and managing general household operations, including Beth Stern’s extensive at-home feline rescue and fostering operations.” Beth Stern is a longtime animal activist who rescues and fosters abandoned dogs and cats, and is the national spokesperson and …

Hostile sexism is linked to higher rates of social sabotage and gossip among young adults

Hostile sexism is linked to higher rates of social sabotage and gossip among young adults

A recent study published in the Journal of Social and Personal Relationships provides evidence that young adults who hold hostile sexist beliefs are more likely to engage in behaviors designed to damage the social relationships of their peers. The findings suggest that challenging traditional gender norms among youth might not only reduce prejudiced bias but also improve the way young people treat one another. Scientists typically study aggressive behavior by looking at predictors linked to small social circles, like family or school environments. This approach tends to overlook how broader societal beliefs, such as expectations about gender and power, influence human interactions. To address this gap, scientists wanted to examine the relationship between sexist attitudes and a specific type of social harm known as relational aggression. Relational aggression involves actions intended to hurt someone by damaging their friendships, reputation, or sense of social inclusion. These attacks can involve spreading malicious gossip, intentionally leaving someone out of group activities, or giving a peer the silent treatment. Relational aggression generally takes two distinct forms. Proactive relational aggression …

Iran Forbids Its Sports Teams From Traveling to ‘Hostile’ Countries

TEHRAN, Iran (AP) — Iran has banned its sports teams from traveling to countries it considers “hostile,” Iranian state TV reported Thursday ahead of Tractor FC’s scheduled soccer game in Saudi Arabia. The ban announced by Iran’s Ministry of Sports in Tehran didn’t mention the World Cup which starts June 11 in the United States, Canada and Mexico. The ministry’s statement singled out the Tractor game against Shabab Al Ahli of Dubai that was set to be played in Saudi Arabia. It’s a playoff game in the Asian Champions League Elite. “The presence of national and club teams in countries that are considered hostile and are unable to ensure the security of Iranian athletes and team members is prohibited until further notice,” it said. Tractor’s playoff game in Saudi Arabia was the result of the Asian Football Confederation’s draw Wednesday to determine the quarterfinal pairings, a day after announcing that the western zone playoffs that were postponed because of the war in the Middle East have been rescheduled for April 13-14 in Jeddah. The Saudi …

In an amended complaint filed in New York federal court in October and obtained by The Independent, the South African reality star alleged that NBCUniversal “promised him a benign, career-enhancing experience on a documentary-style program, but instead subjected him to a hostile work environment rife with sexual harassment, manipulation, and dangerous conditions — all engineered for television ratings.” Most notably, Kotze claimed that producers “orchestrated” a showmance between him and co-star Raquel “Rocky” Dakota, even though he initially expressed …

A one-month behavioral treatment for social anxiety lowers hostile interpretations of others

A one-month behavioral treatment for social anxiety lowers hostile interpretations of others

People who experience high levels of social anxiety tend to view neutral or ambiguous interactions as intentionally hostile, but treating the anxiety can effectively reduce this aggressive perception, according to a recent paper published in Cognitive Behaviour Therapy. These findings suggest that addressing underlying anxiety can lead to meaningful improvements in how people understand the intentions of those around them. Social anxiety involves an intense fear of being watched and judged by others in everyday social situations. This fear often leads people to avoid social events or act in ways designed to protect themselves from perceived embarrassment. Scientists recognize that people with social anxiety often assume others are judging them negatively, a pattern known as a social-evaluative bias. A related psychological pattern, called hostile interpretation bias, specifically involves interpreting neutral or unclear social cues as signs of anger, disrespect, or aggression. For example, if a person does not reply to a greeting, someone with a hostile interpretation bias might assume the silence is an intentional insult. While a social-evaluative bias involves feeling generally judged, a …

One year after JD Vance’s hostile speech against Europe in Munich, what remains?

One year after JD Vance’s hostile speech against Europe in Munich, what remains?

The German diplomat placed a hand on his chest, as if struck by history itself. On the stage at the Munich Security Conference on February 16, 2025, before an audience of ministers, military officials and geopolitical experts, Christoph Heusgen broke down. Tears welled in his eyes as the former diplomatic adviser to chancellor Angela Merkel, and former ambassador to the United Nations, bid farewell. This conference, sometimes compared to the Cannes Film Festival for the Western diplomatic and military elite, had been under his chairmanship since 2022. But inside the Bayerischer Hof, the Art Deco palace that hosts the event, the audience understood that the head of the conference was also bidding farewell to a world in which Europe and the United States jointly claimed to uphold peace and democracy. “This becomes difficult,” said Heusgen, his voice trembling, fearing that Europe might no longer share “a common value base” with its American ally. Two days earlier, in less than 20 minutes, US Vice President JD Vance stunned Europe, causing a rift in the transatlantic relationship. …

Paramount expands offer for Warner Bros amid hostile takeover bid | Media News

Paramount Skydance is ramping up its bid for Warner Bros Discovery by offering extra cash for each quarter the deal fails to close after this year. The CBS parent company also said that it would cover the $2.8bn termination fee if Warner Bros Discovery walks away from its $82.7bn deal for its studio and streaming assets with Netflix. Recommended Stories list of 4 itemsend of list The move is the latest effort by Paramount to sweeten the deal for the HBO parent company amid repeated attempts at a hostile takeover, which Warner Bros has turned down. Paramount Skydance offered a 25-cent per share “ticking fee” which would ultimately come out to $650m in cash per quarter between the start of 2027 and the closing of the deal. However, the move does not raise its offer of $30 per share, or $108.4bn including debt, for the whole of Warner Bros including cable assets. Both Netflix and Paramount covet Warner Bros for its leading film and television studios, extensive content library and major franchises such as Game …
