Katherine Hunter does not just officiate weddings; she builds them. Working as a humanist celebrant, she creates ceremonies that reflect the values, identities, and relationships of the couples she works with, often outside the bounds of religious tradition. In a space historically shaped by faith, Hunter’s work offers something different: ceremonies grounded not in doctrine, but in human connection. In conversation with the American Humanist Association, Hunter spoke about how she found her way into this work, what it means to create meaningful secular ceremonies, and why humanism often resonates with couples, even when they don’t name it. How did you become a celebrant? I happened to be coming out of a period of not being employed, and celebrant work just neatly fit a skill set of mine. I’m comfortable with public speaking, I’m comfortable with writing, and I’m very curious about how people see the world and make sense of it. I’m also very drawn to emotional intelligence. The rarest dog breed in the United States is a puffin hunter

But these are only a fraction of the 202 pooch types officially recognized by the American Kennel Club (AKC). While the French bulldog retained its status as the most popular breed in the United States for the fourth year in a row, there was a bit of a shakeup this year when it comes to the rarest dog in the country. According to the AKC’s tally, you should consider yourself lucky if you spotted a Norwegian lundehund in 2025—the diminutive breed nudged out the English foxhound for the least common canine companion in the country. “With the additions of new breeds recognized nearly every year, it’s hard to gauge whether breeds are becoming rarer or if other breeds are just becoming more popular,” the AKC explained in its announcement. “In some cases, there are certainly surges in popularity, but for other breeds, the registration numbers are so …

Netflix Sets City Hunter 2 in Japan, Ryohei Suzuki Returning as Lead

Netflix is heading back to the streets of Shinjuku. The streamer has set City Hunter 2, a sequel to its hit Japanese live-action adaptation of Tsukasa Hojo’s beloved manga, with a global launch planned for 2027. Ryohei Suzuki will return for the new feature as Ryo Saeba, the sharp-shooting private “sweeper” whose mix of deadpan banter, physical prowess and incorrigible longing for beautiful women made him one of manga’s defining action-comedy heroes. Misato Morita is also back as Kaori Makimura, Ryo’s indispensable partner, while Fumino Kimura returns as the quick-witted detective Saeko Nogami. Keiichiro Shiraki, who helmed the first film, returns to direct from a script by Junpei Yamaoka. First published in 1985, Hojo’s City Hunter has sold more than 50 million copies and remains one of the foundational titles of modern Japanese pop culture, spawning anime series, films, games and stage adaptations over the decades. Angels release utilityman Chris Taylor, reliever Hunter Strickland

The Angels released utilityman Chris Taylor and right-handed pitcher Hunter Strickland from their minor league contracts on Saturday. Taylor, 35, hit .186 with a .256 on-base percentage, two homers, 12 RBIs and two steals in a combined 58 games with the Dodgers and Angels last season. He batted .248 with a .327 on-base percentage, 110 homers and 443 RBIs during a 12-year career. Taylor made the NL All-Star team while playing for the Dodgers in 2021. Strickland, 37, went 1-2 with a 3.27 ERA and one save in 19 relief appearances for the Angels last season. He has a 26-25 record with a 3.39 ERA and 30 saves in 499 career major league appearances, all in relief. Source link

How ‘Wednesday’ Star Hunter Doohan Entered ‘The Wilderness’

In early 2023, Hunter Doohan got a text out of the blue from Bryan Cranston. Doohan, best known for his work in Netflix’s Wednesday, had played Cranston’s son on the Apple series Your Honor. Now Cranston wanted to know if he could share Doohan’s number with Cranston’s Breaking Bad co-star Aaron Paul. For Doohan, a die-hard Breaking Bad fan, the answer was an emphatic yes. Doohan and Paul had never met, but the pair had a connection beyond Cranston: Doohan played a younger version of Paul’s character in Apple’s Truth Be Told. Paul was producing a small indie called The Wilderness, and wanted to get in touch with Doohan about the lead role. The feature takes place in Utah at a wilderness retreat for teen boys who struggled with addiction. The program is led by an enigmatic program director, James (Sam Jaeger), who may have dark intentions. ‘Ship of Gold’ Treasure Hunter Released From Prison, but 500 Gold Coins Remain Unaccounted For

A former deep-sea treasure hunter who made one of the greatest shipwreck discoveries in American history and spent the past decade in prison after refusing to disclose the whereabouts of some of its missing gold coins is now free, federal records show. Tommy Thompson, who in 1988 located what was known as the Ship of Gold off the coast of South Carolina, was released last Wednesday, according to federal Bureau of Prisons records reviewed by The Associated Press. Thompson, an Ohio-born research scientist, was hailed as a hero after finding the S.S. Central America and its thousands of pounds of sunken treasure that sat at the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean for more than 150 years. But in the decades that followed, he battled with investors who accused him of cheating them out of millions and then spent years on the run as a fugitive before being sent to prison over rebuffing court orders while contending he didn’t know what happened to 500 coins minted from the ship’s gold.
