Martin Clunes and his wife, Philippa Braithwaite, share one daughter together, and she is determined not to be branded as a nepo-baby despite both parents working in the television industry.  The Wuthering Heights star is back on screens, this time portraying former BBC Newsreader Huw Edwards in Channel 5’s drama series Power: The Downfall Of Huw Edwards, and despite his acting success, there is no chance his child will follow in his footsteps.  Welcoming their daughter Emily Clunes, 26, in 1999, Martin and Phillipa moved to the Dorset countryside in 2007 to raise their only child away from the glare of London’s spotlight.  The actor and film producer relocated to the 130-acre Meerhay Farm in West Dorset’s Beaminster so that they could have access to fields for Emily’s pony. Martin Clunes has received widespread praise for his leading performance in a new drama about Huw Edwards, even if the show itself has proved to be more on the divisive side. The Wuthering Heights star portrayed the disgraced BBC News anchor in Power: The Downfall Of Huw Edwards, a feature-length drama which aired on 5 (the broadcaster previously known as Channel 5) on Tuesday evening. After the show aired, the Wuthering Heights actor received unanimous praise for his portrayal of Edwards. Disgraced BBC News anchor Huw Edwards, who in 2024 was convicted of accessing child sex abuse images, has issued a furious statement over a new film depicting the scandal. Wuthering Heights star Martin Clunes portrays Edwards in 5’s Power: The Downfall of Huw Edwards. It chronicles the “true story” of the ex-broadcaster’s grooming of a 17-year-old boy (named Ryan in drama, played by Osian Morgan) in the lead-up to his criminal conviction. The producers behind the film, airing in the U.K. on Tuesday, March 24, said at a London screening last week that they pored over reports, police files, and related paperwork, as well as speaking extensively with the victim, their family, and journalists at The Sun who first broke the news of Edwards’ grooming. A note at the end of the program — made to show the public “how grooming works and the insidiousness of grooming,” according to a 5 producer — states that the former BBC presenter declined to comment on the events depicted.
