Liz Truss Warns US Extreme Left Mounting Armed Insurrection

Liz Truss Warns US Extreme Left Mounting Armed Insurrection

Liz Truss has been slammed online after she claimed that “the extreme left are mounting an armed insurrection” in America. The former prime minister, who only lasted 49 days in Downing Street after sparking an economic crisis, made the evidence-free claim on a Daily Telegraph podcast. Her comments followed the killing of protesters Renee Good and Alex Pretti by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officers in the US. Truss said: “What [Donald Trump] is facing is an armed insurrection, that’s what’s happening.” Presenter Tim Stanley pointed out to Truss that neither Good or Pretti were armed when they were shot dead. But the former Tory leader said: “What you do have is an armed insurrection, and that is a very difficult thing to deal with. “I’m talking about left-wing protesters co-ordinating on Signal and, in the case of some of these states, a lack of co-operation from the state governor with legitimate law enforcement. “It’s a very serious situation in America, I don’t want it to get anything like that in Britain.” Her comments sparked …

Democrats Fight To Keep Insurrection Myth Alive In New J6 Committee

Democrats Fight To Keep Insurrection Myth Alive In New J6 Committee

Authored by Jonathan Turley, The new J6 Committee has started its hearings and, unlike the prior Committee, Republicans have allowed Democrats to select members to sit in opposition. That has led to sharp exchanges, but one of the more interesting occurred between Rep. Harriet Hageman (R., Wyo.) and Jamie Raskin (D., Md.). After Hageman got a witness to admit that no one was charged with incitement, Raskin made the clearly false statement that a few defendants charged with seditious conspiracy was the same thing as incitement. It is not. Rep. Raskin triggered the confrontation by making a clearly false claim about one of those charged by the Biden Administration: “I would just commend to everybody the testimony of Pamela Hemphill, who was a convicted insurrectionist that was pardoned. She rejected her pardon.” In reality, Hemphill was charged (like most of the rioters) with relatively minor misdemeanors. She pleaded guilty to one count of demonstrating, picketing, or parading in a Capitol building and received just 60 days in prison, 36 months of probation, and a $500 …

US judge restricts federal agents over Minnesota protests after Trump says no reason for Insurrection Act

A man walks by a series of posters memorializing Renee Good in Minneapolis, Minnesota, on January 16, 2026. SCOTT OLSON / AFP A US judge on Friday, January 16, restricted federal agents from interfering with peaceful protesters in Minneapolis, Minnesota, after President Donald Trump said there was no immediate need to invoke the Insurrection Act over the demonstrations. In the 83-page order, US District Judge Katherine Menendez ordered immigration agents to dial back their aggressive tactics, barring the detention or arrest of peaceful protesters and drivers, and using pepper-spray against demonstrators. The order gives the Department of Homeland Security’s (DHS) current operation in the northern US city 72 hours to come into compliance, and follows two incidents where federal agents opened fire, killing one person and injuring another in the span of a week. In a separate legal move that could inflame the standoff between the White House and Minnesota elected officials, CBS News reported that the Justice Department was investigating Minnesota Governor Tim Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey for impeding federal officers. They …

Trump threatens to invoke the Insurrection Act in response to Minneapolis protests

WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act in response to rising tensions between protesters and federal personnel in Minneapolis. “If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and insurrectionists from attacking the Patriots of I.C.E., who are only trying to do their job, I will institute the INSURRECTION ACT, which many Presidents have done before me, and quickly put an end to the travesty that is taking place in that once great State,” Trump wrote in a post on Truth Social. His warning came just hours after a federal officer shot a man in the leg after an attempted traffic stop in Minneapolis on Wednesday night. Trump threatens to use the Insurrection Act to end protests in Minneapolis

Federal agents stand, following an incident where a civilian’s car was hit by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents, after an ICE agent fatally shot Renee Nicole Good, in Minneapolis, Minnesota, U.S., January 12, 2026. Tim Evans | Reuters President Donald Trump on Thursday threatened to invoke the Insurrection Act and deploy troops to quell persistent protests against the federal officers sent to Minneapolis to enforce his administration’s massive immigration crackdown. The president’s threat comes a day after a federal immigration officer shot and wounded a Minneapolis man who had attacked the officer with a shovel and broom handle. That shooting further heightened the fear and anger radiating across the Minnesota city since an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent fatally shot a Renee Good in the head. Trump has repeatedly threatened to invoke the rarely used federal law to deploy the U.S. military or federalize the National Guard for domestic law enforcement, over the objections of state governors. “If the corrupt politicians of Minnesota don’t obey the law and stop the professional agitators and …

“The real insurrection”: White House marks Jan. 6 anniversary with page attacking Democrats, Pence

Rioters stormed the Capitol to protest Donald Trump‘s loss of the 2020 presidential election five years ago today. The White House marked the occasion with a page attacking Capitol police for their role in the unrest and accusing the Democratic Party of an “insurrection.” President Trump has never backed away from his claim that the 2020 election was rigged in favor of Democrats. Though Trump controlled the federal government at the time of the election, he’s maintained that the results were illegitimate. In the web page that went live on Tuesday, Trump’s White House said that Democrats “masterfully reversed reality” to place Joe Biden in the Oval Office. “In truth, it was the Democrats who staged the real insurrection by certifying a fraud-ridden election, ignoring widespread irregularities, and weaponizing federal agencies to hunt down dissenters, all while [California Rep. Nancy] Pelosi’s own security lapses invited the chaos they later exploited to seize and consolidate power,” the side reads. “This gaslighting narrative allowed them to persecute innocent Americans, silence opposition, and distract from their own role …
