Zara Larsson, Chase Infiniti, Manon Join PinkPantheress

Zara Larsson, Chase Infiniti, Manon Join PinkPantheress

PinkPantheress brought out a gaggle of special guests for her weekend two set at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The internet’s favorite heartthrob actor Tyriq Withers frequently appeared during the set, much like he did during weekend one, which took place at the Mojave tent. But this weekend, the “Stateside” singer decided to up the ante, brining out several big name guests throughout the night. In an unsurprisingly move, fellow pop star Zara Larsson came out during PinkPantheress’ set — fans had begun speculating earlier in the weekend when Larsson was spotted at Coachella. However, it was a surprise that Larsson didn’t join PinkPantheress for the set’s opening song, the remix of “Stateside,” which Larsson is featured on. Instead, the 28-year-old Swedish singer-songwriter came out alone and performed the titular song off her last album, Midnight Sun. Larsson thanked the crowd and seemingly teased that PinkPantheress will feature on the newly announced deluxe version of Midnight Sun, dubbed Girls Trip. Janelle Monae briefly joined PinkPantheress onstage, playing the guitar. Later, Australian DJ Ninajirachi …

Inside Filipino Girl Group BINI’s Historic Coachella Debut

Inside Filipino Girl Group BINI’s Historic Coachella Debut

It’s a blistering 89 degrees in Indio, California, and the eight members of girl group BINI are packed inside a small trailer. With their team surrounding them, some carrying the flag of the Philippines, the young women are abuzz with nervous excitement. Electropop singer Slayyyter can be heard faintly through the not-so-soundproof walls of the trailer. Outside, a group of longtime fans and curious music lovers at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival await the moment the group takes the Mojave stage. BINI, sporting intricately beaded blue-turquoise ensembles, begins putting warrior-like gold dresses on top of their outfits thanks to the help of their backup dancers, a group of seven men who traveled with the girl group from the Philippines. For a moment, the chaos is put on hold as they begin a group prayer. “That’s the first time we’ve done something like that, where [our performance director] asked us to repeat after him,” BINI member Aiah, 25, tells me that night, hours after their performance is done. Aiah and the rest of BINI …

Daniel Kinahan arrested in Dubai over alleged links to ‘international organised crime’ | UK News

Irish national Daniel Kinahan has been arrested in Dubai over alleged links to an “international organised crime network”. He was detained after a court in Ireland issued an arrest warrant Dubai authorities said they received a judicial file and “immediately launched intensive search and surveillance operations, leading to the suspect’s capture” within 48 hours. They said the “Irish fugitive” was detained on 15 April over his “alleged role in an international organised crime network”. Dublin’s high court previously named Kinahan as a senior figure in a crime gang involved in international drug trafficking operations and firearm offences. In 2022, US authorities issued a reward of up to $5m for his arrest. Kinahan was previously linked to the boxing world and co-founded a well-known management and promotions company – which later shut down. In 2016, a bloody feud with the rival Hutch gang led to an attempt on his life when men disguised as armed police opened fire at a boxing weigh-in at a Dublin hotel. Kinahan managed to escape but gang member David Byrne was …

‘Humboldt USA’ Doc Film Interview on Nature: Visions du Réel 2026

‘Humboldt USA’ Doc Film Interview on Nature: Visions du Réel 2026

Countless places across the U.S. bear the name of Alexander von Humboldt. In fact, the German naturalist and polymath has been described as the person with more species – from penguins and monkeys to an orchid – and places named after him than any other human. And at the beginning of the 19th century, he proposed a radical idea that has also been popular in the context of climate change: to consider nature as a “network of interconnected lives.” Humboldt USA, the feature film debut from G. Anthony Svatek, follows in his footsteps, traveling across the U.S., from ancient redwood forests to a parkway in New York state and the bright lights of Nevada, to explore our evolving relationship with nature. Weaving together the stories of people in those locations, Humboldt’s own words and thoughts from the filmmaker, the kaleidoscopic result is a playful, but also fraught, love letter to the naturalist. Humboldt USA world premieres in the international feature film competition of the 57th edition of the Swiss documentary festival Visions du Réel in Nyon, …

Netflix Earnings Review for Q1 2026 as Stock Drops: What Analysts Say

Netflix Earnings Review for Q1 2026 as Stock Drops: What Analysts Say

Forget about chilling, it’s all about expectations! That is one of the key takeaways from Netflix’s first-quarter earnings update and outlook late Thursday. The latest figures exceeded most expectations, and the global streaming giant stuck to its 2026 guidance — but many investors had hoped for more. Blame the recent U.S. price hikes and the recently returned stock swagger after the streamer dropped out of the bidding war for Warner Bros. Discovery and received that $2.8 billion break-up fee. Netflix shares dropped 9 percent in Thursday after-market trading and as of 7:15 a.m. ET on Friday were down 10.8 percent at $96.20. Wall Street analysts have started sharing their takes on the results, the outlook and the stock – and on that upcoming exit of Netflix founder and chair Reed Hastings, along with latest commentary by co-CEOs Ted Sarandos and Greg Peters. Among the issues dissected are the price hikes, advertising momentum, the ongoing debate about Netflix’s engagement trends, and, yes, the World Baseball Classic. Read their commentary and insights below. Analyst: Michael Morris, Guggenheim SecuritiesStock …

Christine Baranski to Make West End Debut in ‘Hay Fever’

Christine Baranski to Make West End Debut in ‘Hay Fever’

U.S. actress Christine Baranski will make her West End debut alongside Richard E. Grant in a new production of Noël Coward’s Hay Fever. The family comedy, directed by Emily Burns, also marks Saltburn star Grant’s return to the West End stage after 20 years. It’ll run at the Wyndham Theatre from September to December this year, with two-time Tony winner Baranski playing Judith Bliss and Grant as David Bliss. “Last year, Judith retired from her life on stage. Already, she misses the applause,” reads a plot synopsis. “Idling away at their country home, the rest of the family — reclusive novelist husband David and failure-to-launch children Sorrel and Simon — are too self-involved to be a good audience. So, Judith invites a young fan as her guest for the weekend. But unbeknownst to her, each of the Blisses have a guest of their own arriving at the very same time. Completely unsuited to hosting and allergic to compromise, the house quickly erupts into a chaos of parlor games, put-downs, and unrequested encores.” Baranski, best known …

‘Heat’ Climate Change Doc Film Trailer, Interview: Visions du Réel

The heat is on! Just watch the work of Swiss documentary filmmaker Jacqueline Zünd (Where We Belong, Almost There, Goodnight Nobody). She premiered her fiction feature debut, Don’t Let the Sun, at the Locarno Film Festival last year, bringing us a near-future-set cinematic contemplation of how external factors, namely climate change, affect and shape our inner worlds. Now, Zünd is getting ready to world premiere a film that dives into the same themes in a different, namely documentary, and very provocative form. The new film, aptly called Heat, will debut at the 57th edition of the Visions du Réel (VdR) doc festival in Nyon, Switzerland, on April 20. It will screen in the international feature film competition of the fest, which opens on Friday, April 17, and runs through April 26. Featuring highly stylized imagery and sound to bring the heat to viewers in all its intensity, the doc is set in the Persian Gulf, “one of the hottest regions in the world,” with temperatures crossing the 50 degrees Celsius/120 degrees Fahrenheit mark, and a place where “the …

2026 Visions du Réel Interview

2026 Visions du Réel Interview

The Roots of Madness. The title of the new documentary from Swiss filmmaker Edgar Hagen (Who Are We?, Journey to the Safest Place on Earth) is provocative. Its goal is ambitious. After all, amid the heated political debate about migration and rise of xenophobia across Europe and other parts of the world over the past decade-plus, the film looks to answer the question: Why do so many people become refugees? For his cinematic exploration, Hagen tries to understand “the long-term consequences of Western intervention in the Middle East,” as a synopsis highlights. In his investigation, the filmmaker accompanies veteran German journalist Ulrich Tilgner, who has covered war zones and crisis hotspots for German and Swiss broadcasters, on a farewell journey to meet not only regular people along the way but also former contacts, old friends, and past interview subjects in the likes of Afghanistan, Iraq and Syria to find out how things have played out since his past visits. The Roots of Madness world premieres in the national competition of the 57th edition of the Swiss documentary …
