Madonna Invades Grindr to Promote New Album

Madonna Invades Grindr to Promote New Album

Fresh off a triumphant guest turn at Coachella, the Queen of Pop is doing what she does best — getting attention — in a different kind of crowded venue: the gay hookup app Grindr. As one of the “few brand partners hand-selected by the OG Mother,” a press release announces, the icon is “taking over” the yellow app to bring “community into her world — just in time for Pride season.” What that means for Grindr users right now is that their profile grid will always contain one square devoted to Madonna, reclining in a fuchsia body stalking with zebra stripes projected over her. Click on the square (which you can’t block) and you get a message from Madonna herself: “Hi Grindr. It’s Motha. I made an exclusive vinyl of my new album just for you. I could have dropped it anywhere but I wanted to go where the hottest action was, so I got on the grid. Are you ready for Confessions II?” Grindr teases that it is “just getting started” with the artist …

UAE Will Be Pounded If US Invades, Iranian Officials Warn

UAE Will Be Pounded If US Invades, Iranian Officials Warn

Via Middle East Eye Tehran believes the United Arab Emirates is playing an active role in the US-Israeli war on Iran and any ground invasion could lead to widespread attacks on Emirati state assets, two senior Iranian sources told Middle East Eye. A month into the conflict, which has battered global markets, Donald Trump is weighing whether to use ground troops to seize strategic islands in the Strait of Hormuz in an attempt to stop Iran from disrupting energy supplies. Attention has particularly focused on Kharg Island, the hub through which roughly 90 percent of Iran’s oil exports flow, and Qashm Island which overlooks the strait. Such an operation would probably be launched from US bases in Gulf Arab states, which have come under Iranian attack in retaliation for US-Israeli strikes on Iran, which have killed at least 1,900 people so far. Anti-Iranian sentiment has grown in Arab Gulf states, where retaliatory strikes have hit various targets, including key energy infrastructure. Combative rhetoric has particularly come from the …

ICE Invades Airports Across the US

ICE Invades Airports Across the US

Over the last 24 hours, Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have invaded airports across the United States. At Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson, the world’s busiest airport, videos and photographs show ICE agents standing next to security screening lines. At Chicago’s O’Hare airport, ICE agents are scattered around check-in counters, according to videos shared online. At Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey, ICE officers were seen walking through the main United Airlines terminal, wearing vests that said “ICE.” And at San Francisco International Airport, multiple videos show what appear to be plainclothes law enforcement officers forcibly detaining a young woman as dozens of onlookers watch and film. According to reporting from the New York Times, ICE is being deployed to 14 airports across the country, including John F. Kennedy airport and LaGuardia airport in New York, as well as airports in Houston, New Orleans, Philadelphia, and Phoenix. One of the eyewitnesses who captured the incident at San Francisco’s airport tells WIRED she began filming after hearing a “horrible” scream while walking to her gate. The woman, …

WW3 fears as Norwegians warned homes could be seized if Putin invades | World | News

There are growing fears Vladimir Putin could launch another invasion (Image: Getty) Norwegians are being warned their homes could be seized if Russia invades the country, as fears over a possible World War 3 continue to skyrocket. Poland has also issued a frightening survival guide for all its residents in the event of a global conflict. The warning comes after authorities in Oslo sent thousands of letters to citizens instructing them to be ready to hand over homes, vehicles and other key assets if conflict erupts. Norwegian military officials stressed the notices are a pre-emptive measure aimed at ensuring the armed forces can rapidly access essential civilian resources should the country face an invasion from Vladimir Putin’s Russia, amid rising tensions across Europe. Around 13,500 so-called “preparatory requisition” notices were issued this week, warning that cars, boats, machinery and even private property could be temporarily confiscated if the measure is triggered. Norwegian officials said the orders are valid for one year and are designed to ensure the military can respond immediately in a national emergency, …

Canada vows to defend Greenland against the US if Trump invades | US | News

US President Donald Trump speaks to the press before boarding Marine One (Image: AFP via Getty Images) Canada’s Prime Minister Mark Carney has declared that his nation is prepared to uphold Greenland’s sovereignty in accordance with NATO commitments, as tensions with the United States continue to escalate. Speaking at a press conference on Sunday, Carney voiced his apprehension about the growing friction between America and Greenland . However, in a striking demonstration of adherence to established principles, Carney emphasised that Canada’s allegiance lies with NATO rather than with the U.S. alone. “With respect to Greenland, the future of Greenland is a decision for Greenland and the Kingdom of Denmark,” Carney stated when questioned by journalists. “We are NATO partners, with Denmark, and so our partnership stands, our obligation on Article 5 and Article 2 stands.” Article 5 of the NATO treaty encompasses the collective defence provision, which stipulates that an armed assault on one member constitutes an attack on all, requiring others to provide assistance, including military force if necessary, to restore security. Article 2, …

What to Do If ICE Invades Your Neighborhood

What to Do If ICE Invades Your Neighborhood

“It’s no longer Officer Friendly out there,” Whitlock says. “This is not to give any excuse, but I can imagine there is a mindset within the field ICE agents and CBP where they really do think they’re under attack and being threatened. And no one is above the law, but I think it’s important for people to understand that there are going to be limited forms of trying to hold these officers accountable in practice.” On the Scene If you find yourself witnessing an immigration enforcement action, there are some things to keep in mind if you want to stick around. “The goal is to be an observer and to document what is happening,” says Nathan-Pineau of the Immigrant Legal Resource Center. “The goal is not to go and try to intervene in the law enforcement action.” Training materials from Siembra NC, a North Carolina–based grassroots organization working to defend its local communities from exploitation, say that the priority when ICE is present is letting agents know they are being observed and reminding people of …

NATO ends if Trump invades Greenland, EU commissioner warns – POLITICO

Kubilius’ words mark the first time a top EU official has publicly backed Frederiksen’s position, although EU diplomats privately agree with her. “I will also make it clear that if the U.S. chooses to attack another NATO country militarily, then everything stops, including NATO, and thus the security that has been established since the end of the Second World War,” Frederiksen said in a Jan. 5 interview with broadcaster TV2.   The statement contrasts, though, with that of NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, who today insisted the alliance is not in crisis. Trump was asked in a two-hour interview with the New York Times on Jan. 7 whether acquiring Greenland mattered more to him than preserving the military alliance. The U.S. leader did not answer the question directly but acknowledged that his administration may have to choose between the two. EU diplomats who spoke to POLITICO tended not to believe the U.S. will use military force to take over Greenland, but agreed that Trump will get something from the pressure he has been applying — at the very …

An exhausted strongman invades Venezuela

An exhausted strongman invades Venezuela

When Donald Trump returned to power last January, he had the energy of a conquering hero. As he promised during the 2024 presidential race, he launched his shock-and-awe campaign against American democracy and its institutions on day one. It was devastatingly effective; the so-called resistance was left reeling. A year later, the political battlefield is starting to change. Trump and his MAGA forces are finally encountering substantive resistance after failing to fully consolidate power. With November’s midterm elections approaching, their window to do so is rapidly narrowing. Instead of rising to the challenge, Trump appears to be losing energy; the human dynamo is winding down. During Cabinet meetings, press availabilities in the Oval Office and a recent signing ceremony, he looks like he has fallen asleep. In a recent Wall Street Journal interview, the 79-year-old president explained that he was just resting his eyes or blinking. These dynamics are compounded by growing public concern about Trump’s physical and mental state. He has repeatedly bragged about passing cognitive tests and undergoing a battery of comprehensive physical …

NATO is done if Trump invades Greenland, Danish PM warns  – POLITICO

Trump has long pushed for the mineral-rich island, which is largely autonomous but part of Denmark and therefore belongs to the NATO military alliance, to join the U.S., calling it a strategic necessity and refusing to rule out using force or economic coercion.   “We need Greenland from a national security situation,” he told reporters on Air Force One on Sunday. “We will deal with Greenland in about two months. Let’s talk about Greenland in 20 days,” he added, without giving more information about what would happen then.   Trump’s latest remarks came after the U.S. launched strikes on Venezuela and arrested its leader, Nicolás Maduro. The dramatic raid has raised fears in Europe that Washington could feel emboldened to annex Greenland next, with leaders from the Nordic nations to the United Kingdom pledging their support for Copenhagen and Greenland’s right to self-determination.  Source link
