Half Man Cast: Where You’ve Seen The Stars Of Richard Gadd’s New Drama Before

The more emotionally robust among us might have already plunged straight into Baby Reindeer creator Richard Gadd’s new series Half Man. To those people we say congratulations – and can we maybe have the number for your therapist? Already hoovering up praise and criticism alike for its “emotionally shattering” depiction of two brothers and the fragility of male relationships, the BBC is perhaps wisely drip-feeding one new episode of Half Man every Friday, rather than releasing the whole series at once. Meanwhile, if you’re a regular TV viewer, you’ll likely have seen more than a few members of the cast – led by Richard and co-star Jamie Bell – before. Here’s why the stars of Half Man might look familiar… Richard Gadd Richard Gadd as Donny Dunn in Baby Reindeer Comedian, actor and writer Richard made his major breakthrough with the six-time Emmy-winning Netflix series Baby Reindeer, an adaptation of his one-man comedy show about his own experiences of sexual violence and being stalked. If you don’t recognise him from that, or his irreverent stand-up …

Peaky Blinders Cast: Jamie Bell And Charlie Heaton To Lead New Series

Peaky Blinders Cast: Jamie Bell And Charlie Heaton To Lead New Series

The new Peaky Blinders series is picking up momentum as an array of exciting names have been announced to pick up the baton from Cillian Murphy and co. So far, 2026 has been a strong year for Peaky Blinders fans, after the show’s spin-off film, The Immortal Man, landed in cinemas and on Netflix to a warm reception from fans and critics alike, four years after we last saw Tommy Shelby on our screens. Last year, it was revealed that Peaky Blinders would be returning for two brand new series, introducing a “new generation of Shelbys”. Now, it has been confirmed that Rocketman and Billy Elliot star Jamie Bell will lead the new cast, playing Tommy Shelby’s eldest son Duke. This marks the third iteration of the character, with Duke most recently being played by Barry Keoghan in The Immortal Man, while Bafta Rising Star winner Conrad Khan portrayed Tommy’s eldest son in the TV series. The BBC has said that Duke will be at the “blood-soaked heart” of the new Peaky Blinders series, adding …

Karim Aïnouz on Eviscerating the Super Rich in ‘Rosebush Pruning’

Karim Aïnouz on Eviscerating the Super Rich in ‘Rosebush Pruning’

“People are roses. Families are rosebushes. Rosebushes need pruning.” With that ominous metaphor, Ed [Callum Turner] introduces us to the super-rich, and sordidly dysfunctional, family at the center of Rosebush Pruning, the new film from acclaimed Brazilian director Karim Aïnouz (Firebrand, Motel Destino). They’re a pretty nasty bunch. Younger siblings Anna [Riley Keough] and Robert [Lukas Gage] are incest-curious, borderline psychotics. Their father (played by Tracey Letts) is a blind, soft-spoken, abusive tyrant. Eldest brother Jack [Jamie Bell] seems almost normal, though there, too, are signs of deep trauma. The American clan wallows in a life of pointless opulence in a Spanish villa, discussing designer clothes and snarking at servants and each other. But when Jack, the family lynchpin, announces he is moving in with his girlfriend, Martha [Elle Fanning], and Ed starts to unravel the truth surrounding the death of their mother [Pamela Anderson], things fall apart. The pruning is coming, and it will not be pretty. This modern-day take on Marco Bellocchio‘s radical 1965 satire Fists in the Pocket, adapted by frequent Yorgos …

Callum Turner, Elle Fanning in Dark Satire

Callum Turner, Elle Fanning in Dark Satire

The Pet Shop Boys’ synth-pop banger “Paninaro” is a tongue-in-cheek anthem to hedonistic Italian youth culture of the 1980s, its label-whore obsessions and its blithe superficiality. Fittingly, the song’s thumping beat is heard twice, real loud, in Rosebush Pruning, Karim Aїnouz’s high-gloss, pitch-dark satire about an American family described by one of its scions as mediocre, vapid egotists, who will never have to work thanks to a large inheritance. Fashion and techno music are the chief interests of the surviving members, one of whom dreams of Bottega Veneta loafers floating in the sky. The Taylor family left New York for the Catalonia coast six years earlier and have never quite managed to fit in, which is not surprising given the insular bubble of circle-jerk flattery that have built. Rosebush Pruning The Bottom Line Tart and amusing at times but leaves a sour taste.
