11 Signs Someone Is Far More Calculated & Judgmental Than They Want You To Know

Not everyone who comes across as easygoing or neutral is actually operating that way underneath. Some people put a lot of effort into appearing relaxed or nonjudgmental, especially in social settings where that image is valued. On the surface, they may seem smooth and agreeable, making it harder to notice what’s really happening. If a person is more calculated and judgmental than they want you to know, a different picture emerges when you pay attention to patterns rather than isolated moments. Subtle choices about what they comment on and how they respond in certain situations can reveal a more deliberate and evaluative way of thinking. The signals aren’t loud, but they tend to be consistent once you know what to look for. These are 11 signs someone is far more calculated & judgmental than they want you to know 1. They ask very specific questions that seem casual but gather a lot of information Drazen Zigic / Shutterstock Some questions sound conversational, yet they’re structured in a way that reveals more than they initially appear …

3 Ways to Overcome the Fear of Judgment

3 Ways to Overcome the Fear of Judgment

Evolutionarily, our nervous systems evolved in small communities where the security of being with others was a matter of life and death. The danger of being left out of the group was a cause of anxiety with a survival threat attached to it. The brain, therefore, came to treat social evaluation as a possible threat, thus activating many of the same neural pathways that respond to physical danger. While the instinct is ancient, the environments we navigate today are far more complex. Our workplaces, our social presence, and our performance-driven cultures all amplify perceived scrutiny. The good thing is that fear of negative evaluation is very much changeable. Here are three evidence-based methods to start with for breaking free of it. 1. Reduce Fear of Judgment by Sticking to Your Values One of the most powerful drivers of evaluative anxiety is outcome monitoring. Do you tend to mentally track how you are being perceived all the time? Thoughts like, “Did I sound stupid?” or “Do they think I’m incompetent?” pull attention inward, turning social interactions …

Federal Appeals Court Reinstates 6 Million Judgment Against Palestinian Authorities

Federal Appeals Court Reinstates $656 Million Judgment Against Palestinian Authorities

Authored by Joseph Lord via The Epoch Times, A federal appellate court has agreed to reinstate a $656 million judgment against Palestinian authorities for Americans killed or wounded in attacks by the Palestinian Liberation Organization (PLO) and the Palestinian Authority while in Israel. The ruling from the 2nd U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals was issued in the wake of a Supreme Court decision authorizing such suits for victims of international terrorism in a legal saga that’s been ongoing since the mid-2010s. “We conclude that the original judgment for the plaintiffs should be reinstated. That conclusion is consistent with the plain import of the Supreme Court’s decision,” the judges said in a decision dated March 30. The Supreme Court’s decision directly overturned a prior ruling made by the 2nd Circuit Court of Appeals on the matter. The case has its earliest origins in a law passed by Congress in 1992, the Anti-Terrorism Act, which permitted victims of international terror to sue the offender. In 2014, in the case Sokolow v. PLO, the PLO was successfully sued …

If People Seem To Judge You Before Getting To Really Know You, It’s Probably For These 11 Reasons

If People Seem To Judge You Before Getting To Really Know You, It’s Probably For These 11 Reasons

Nobody likes the feeling judged, especially for things we can’t control. If people seem to be constantly judging you before getting to know you, it’s probably because of a few traits you have more control over than you realize.  Of course, there are times people act judgmental out of their own feelings of insecurity, and it’s good to be prepared for these judgements, too. Some things you’re judged for aren’t worth worrying about and say more about the judger than yourself. In these cases, it’s probably good to let them go.  If people seem to judge you before getting to really know you, it’s probably for these 11 reasons 1. Your nervous behavior YURII MASLAK | Shutterstock People like confidence, whether it’s in a random socialization or in romantic relationships. In fact, one study found that potential partners viewed those who were confident (but not arrogant) as more attractive. This is no surprise, as it’s been the foundation of dating and career advice for generations.  But if you’re an anxious mess, this can have the opposite …

Are Jeffrey Epstein’s friends just guilty of bad judgment?

Are Jeffrey Epstein’s friends just guilty of bad judgment?

(RNS) — Props to the folks who created a “Walk of Shame” for Jeffrey Epstein’s high-profile friends in Washington’s Farragut Square the other day. I’m afraid, however, that this isn’t the walk these Epstein friends have actually been taking. Rather, theirs has been a Walk of Misjudgment:  Microsoft co-founder Bill Gates said meeting with Epstein was “a serious error in judgment.” Hyatt Hotels Chairman Thomas Pritzker said he “exercised terrible judgment in maintaining contact” with Epstein. Nobel Prize-winning Columbia University professor Richard Axel’s association with Jeffrey Epstein was also “a serious error in judgment.” International Peace Institute President Terje Rød-Larsen said engaging in a personal financial relationship with Epstein was “a grave error of judgment.” Messages from Miroslav Lajčák, former United Nations General Assembly president, discussing women with Epstein showed “poor judgment.” New Age guru Deepak Chopra said messages to Epstein (including “God is a construct. Cute girls are real.”) “reflect poor judgment in tone.” And former Prince Andrew, Duke of York, referred to his “ill-judged association with Jeffrey Epstein.” To his credit, I suppose, after calling …

Why Michelangelo’s ‘Last Judgment’ endures

Why Michelangelo’s ‘Last Judgment’ endures

(The Conversation) — Michelangelo’s fresco of “The Last Judgment,” covering the wall behind the altar of the Sistine Chapel in Vatican City, is being restored. The work, which started on Feb. 1, 2026, is expected to continue for three months. The Sistine Chapel is one of the great masterpieces of Renaissance art. As the setting where the College of Cardinals of the Catholic Church meets to elect a new pope, it was decorated by the most prestigious painters of the day. In 1480, Pope Sixtus IV commissioned Domenico Ghirlandaio, Sandro Botticelli, Pietro Perugino and Cosimo Rosselli to paint the walls. On the south are six scenes of the “Life of Moses,” and across on the north are six scenes of the “Life of Christ.” In 1508, Pope Julius II commissioned Michelangelo to paint the ceiling. The theme is the Book of Genesis, the first book of the Bible. The images show God creating the world through the story of Noah, who was directed by God to shelter humans and animals on an ark during the …

Most doubt Trump judgment on use of military force abroad amid Iran tensions: Poll

A majority of Americans doubt President Trump’s judgment when it comes to using military force abroad, even as many say they are concerned about the threat Iran’s nuclear program poses to the U.S., according to a new survey. The latest AP-NORC Research Center poll, released Thursday, found that 48 percent of respondents are “extremely” or… Source link

Judgment reserved on CPS Quran burning appeal – Humanists UK

Judgment reserved on CPS Quran burning appeal – Humanists UK

Today was the latest hearing in the case of Hamit Coskun, who burned a Quran outside the Turkish Embassy in London. Last year, he had his conviction for religiously motivated harassment, alarm or distress overturned on appeal, but the Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) has taken the case to the High Court. The case was heard today. The judge has reserved judgment, and will deliver his decision at a later date. The story so far In February 2025, Hamit Coskun, a half-Kurdish and half-Armenian man from Turkey, burned a Quran outside the Turkish Embassy in London. He said he did it in protest against the President of Turkey for failing to uphold Turkey’s secular constitution. Notably, Coskun was attacked with a knife during his protest, and was taken to hospital before being arrested. Humanists UK regularly cautions that blasphemy-motivated extremism and violence are growing problems, and that such violence is inevitably encouraged when prohibitions on ‘blasphemy’ are legitimised by authorities. Nonetheless, in June he was convicted of a public disorder offence, likely to cause harassment, alarm, …

Michelangelo’s ‘The Last Judgment’ Fresco Undergoes 3-Month Cleaning at Sistine Chapel

Michelangelo’s ‘The Last Judgment’ Fresco Undergoes 3-Month Cleaning at Sistine Chapel

VATICAN CITY (AP) — Michelangelo’s “The Last Judgment,” the imposing fresco of heaven and hell which dominates the Sistine Chapel, is undergoing its first major restoration in three decades, the Vatican said Monday. The Sistine Chapel will remain open to visitors during the three-month cleaning, albeit with scaffolding partially obstructing the view of the fresco, the Vatican Museums said in a statement. The cleaning, the first major restoration since 1994, will remove microparticle buildup on the plaster from so many people visiting each day. The museum called the film a “widespread whitish haze, produced by the deposition of microparticles of foreign substances carried by air movements.” More than 6 million people visit the Vatican Museums each year, with the Sistine Chapel a top destination. With so many people in such a small place, the Vatican is constantly monitoring humidity and temperature levels in the chapel and taking proactive measures to protect it. The chapel is named after Pope Sixtus IV, an art patron who oversaw the construction of the main papal chapel in the 15th …

Norway PM says royal princess showed ‘poor judgment’ over links with Epstein – POLITICO

Norway PM says royal princess showed ‘poor judgment’ over links with Epstein – POLITICO

“Jeffrey Epstein is solely responsible for his actions. I must take responsibility for not having investigated Epstein’s background more thoroughly, and for not realizing sooner what kind of person he was. I deeply regret this, and it is a responsibility I must bear,” the crown princess said. She went on to express her “deep sympathy and solidarity with the victims of the abuses committed by Jeffrey Epstein.” Several of the exchanges with Epstein have drawn particular attention. In one of the messages, Mette-Marit referred to Epstein as “such a sweetheart.” In another exchange, after Epstein said he was on a “wife hunt” in Paris, she replied that “Paris is good for adultery” and added that “Scandis [are] better wife material.” In another email, Mette-Marit asked if it was “inappropriate for a mother to suggest two naked women carrying a surfboard for my 15 yr old sons wallpaper?” The revelations come at a sensitive time for the Norwegian royal family. Mette-Marit’s 29-year-old son, Marius Borg Høiby — who does not hold a royal title — is …
