Kanye West concert in Poland will be cancelled, venue says

WARSAW: A Polish stadium said on Friday (Apr 17) that it will cancel a concert by US rapper Kanye West days after he postponed a show in France amid a furore over his past antisemitic comments and celebration of Nazism. “We would like to inform you that the Ye (Kanye West) concert planned for 19 June 2026 at the … Slaski stadium will not take place due to formal and legal reasons,” stadium director Adam Strzyzewski said in a statement posted on Facebook. The decision by the Slaski stadium in the western city of Chorzow, first reported by Wyborcza newspaper on its website, comes just over a week after Britain blocked the 48-year-old from travelling there to headline a festival. There was no immediate comment from the rapper, now known as Ye, who in January apologised for his behaviour, which he attributed to untreated bipolar disorder, and renounced past expressions of admiration for Adolf Hitler. Authorities in Poland had already signalled they would seek to ban the planned June 19 concert. “In a country scarred …

Kanye West Postpones France Concert Amid Possible Ban

Kanye West has gone ahead and postponed his show in France as leadership continued to weigh banning the rapper from entering the country. “After much thought and consideration, it is my sole decision to postpone my show in Marseille, France until further notice,” West, who now goes by Ye, wrote on X Tuesday night. He was initially scheduled to perform on June 11 in Marseille at Stade Vélodrome as part of his 2026 comeback tour. The Hollywood Reporter reported earlier Tuesday that France was looking to potentially ban the “Flashing Lights” artist from performing in the country. Marseille Mayor Benoît Payan and French Interior Minister Laurent Nuñez argued that West has no place in the French country following his past antisemitic remarks and for releasing a song last year called “Heil Hitler.” Related Stories This came after the artist was barred from entering the United Kingdom shortly after being announced as the headliner for all three nights of Wireless Festival in July. Following his booking, several major sponsors pulled out of the music festival, and …

Ye Is Better Than This

Ye Is Better Than This

This is an edition of the weekly newsletter Tap In, GQ senior associate editor Frazier Tharpe’s final word on the most heated online discourse about music, movies, and TV. Sign up here to get it free. Driving around the morning after attending Ye’s sold-out show at Los Angeles’ SoFi Stadium, I found myself, understandably, in the mood for a Kanye set. Much of the setlist at SoFi was built to function like a one-man Verzuz, a reminder that Ye has hits for days, timeless songs that both take you back to the moment in time when they were released but also sound potent and barely dated, even years and decades later. As I flew up the 405 on a solo mission, sun beaming down on the mountains on the horizon, I put my library of Kanye songs on shuffle and within a few tracks, landed on one of his best features: 2010’s “Live Fast, Die Young,” born out of the Hawaii sessions that would yield My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy but ultimately placed on Rick …

Wireless Festival Cancelled As Kanye West Is Blocked From Travelling To The UK

Wireless organisers have confirmed that this year’s festival will no longer be going ahead in light of the news that Ye will no longer be permitted entry to the UK. Last week, it was announced that Ye – formerly known as Kanye West – had been booked to headline all three nights of the event, which was due to take place at London’s Finsbury Park in July. This news was met with a near-immediate backlash because of a variety of antisemitic comments made by the Grammy-winning musician last year. London mayor Sadiq Khan and UK prime minister Keir Starmer were among those to raise questions about Ye’s Wireless booking, with numerous brands pulling their sponsorship as the backlash intensified. On Tuesday afternoon, it was finally announced that Ye would no longer be permitted access to the UK, meaning his Wireless set could not go ahead. Wireless subsequently said in a statement to the press: “The Home Office has withdrawn Ye’s ETA, denying him entry into the United Kingdom. As a result, Wireless Festival is cancelled …

Kanye West Blocked From Travelling To UK Amid Controversy Over Wireless Booking

The US rapper Ye has been banned from travelling to the UK ahead of his scheduled performances at this year’s Wireless music festival. Ye – formerly known as Kanye West – had been booked to headline all three nights of the London festival in July, leading to widespread controversy due to his past antisemitic comments and actions. London mayor Sadiq Khan and UK prime minister Keir Starmer were among those to raise questions about the booking, as well as many leading UK-based Jewish groups, some of whom went as far as questioning whether the Grammy winner should even be allowed to travel to the UK. It’s now been revealed that Ye’s performances will no longer be able to go ahead, due to his right to travel to the UK being nixed by the Home Office. Government sources told HuffPost UK that the decision was made on the grounds that his presence in the UK “would not be conducive to the public good”. Keir Starmer said on Tuesday afternoon: “Kanye West should never have been invited …

Kanye West headlining festival is ‘appalling,’ UK minister says – POLITICO

Streeting said West has “no business” headlining the festival, and that the organizers “should be ashamed of themselves” for a terrible error of judgment. “These weren’t a couple of off-color remarks,” Streeting told Sky News. “These were, I think, a pattern of behavior.” He added: “Antisemitism is serious, it can be deadly and people like Kanye West, who have an enormous platform, fame, reach, they have to accept the responsibility that comes with that. And I don’t think he has. I’m only too disappointed the festival organizers are too blind to see it.” Festival Managing Director Melvin Benn called West’s comments “abhorrent,” but said his songs were played on radio stations and he, for now, has a legal right to enter the U.K. and perform. Benn said people should “offer some forgiveness and hope to him as I have decided to do.” In a recent statement, West said he wanted the opportunity to meet with and listen to members of the Jewish community in the U.K. Source link
