HYBE, SM Entertainment, YG Entertainment, and JYP Entertainment confirmed in a joint statement their preparations to establish a venture for “Fanomenon,” a large-scale festival aimed at showcasing Korean popular culture to a global audience. These discussions also include the government’s Popular Culture Exchange Committee, highlighting a strategic shift towards industry-wide collaboration. The companies seek to broaden K-pop’s global reach through collective efforts, rather than relying solely on individual company initiatives. Fanomenon – a term combining “fan” and “phenomenon” – was unveiled last year by ‌JYP founder Park Jin-young, who co-chairs the committee. Fans of K-pop boy band BTS ahead of the …

Those fancy Ethernet cable labels are misleading — here’s what Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A actually do

Those fancy Ethernet cable labels are misleading — here’s what Cat5e, Cat6, and Cat6A actually do

Over the past few months, I’ve been trying to educate myself a bit further in the world of networking. It’s a complex, convoluted, but incredibly interesting part of the tech world that I never paid enough attention to before, and something that has become increasingly interesting to me in my daily life. My quest to learn more about Ethernet cords, specifically, started when I upgraded my internet speeds to 1000 Mbps. Those little numbers on the shielded jackets were confusing, and I needed answers. I wanted to get my hands on some new cables to complement my new speeds, and I invested far too much money. There are a lot of fancy names thrown around, and I decided I needed to get to the bottom of it. I discovered that I’ve been spending more money for the same performance I could get with other cables. It’s all in the name What’s the difference in speed between 5e, 6, and 6A? Empire of Sticky Labels | Psychology Today

Empire of Sticky Labels | Psychology Today

“The Holy Roman Empire was neither holy, nor Roman, nor an empire.” Voltaire’s famous verdict is remembered today because it’s equal amounts surprising and merciless, all the while being an insightful observation. It can also teach us something important about human psychology. In case you too forgot your middle school history, the Holy Roman Empire began as a serious political project. It was an attempt to revive Roman authority, fuse it with Christian legitimacy, and impose order on post-Roman Europe. When Charlemagne, the Frankish king who had conquered much of Western Europe, was crowned in 800 AD, the Holy Roman Empire was all the things. It was “holy” because the Pope provided divine legitimacy. It was “Roman” because Charlemagne actually held Rome. And it was an “empire” because the emperor wielded terrifying, centralized authority. But in a slow erosion over the next thousand years, this reality rotted away, and only the branding survived. The Protestant Reformation severed its “holiness” when it turned emperors against popes and split the church. The “Roman” influence also vanished as …

What do the new ‘GLP-1 Friendly’ food labels mean? : NPR

A bite from a Healthy Choice Chicken Fried Rice frozen meal, which includes chicken, rice, carrots and edamame in a sesame sauce. Healthy Choice, a Conagra brand, has a line of frozen meals labeled “On Track,” geared toward GLP-1 users. Beck Harlan for NPR hide caption toggle caption Beck Harlan for NPR Some food companies, including Nestle and Conagra, are responding to the popularity of obesity and diabetes drugs by branding some products “GLP-1 Friendly.” The labels target a growing number of consumers taking medicines such as Zepbound and Wegovy who may be looking for healthier, ready-made meals that minimize side-effects from the drugs. But what, exactly, does it mean to eat a GLP-1-friendly diet? Protein, produce and H2O More than smaller portions, nutritionist Allison Wiseman emphasizes balance: protein to combat muscle loss as weight falls off quickly, and fiber from fruits and vegetables, because the medicines slow digestion, which can cause constipation and, in extreme cases, blockages of the intestines. Plenty of water is essential, too, because the drugs also diminish a person’s sense …

Anthropic Hits Back After US Military Labels It a ‘Supply Chain Risk’

Anthropic Hits Back After US Military Labels It a ‘Supply Chain Risk’

United States Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth directed the Pentagon to designate Anthropic as a “supply-chain risk” on Friday, sending shockwaves through Silicon Valley and leaving many companies scrambling to understand whether they can keep using one of the industry’s most popular AI models. “Effective immediately, no contractor, supplier, or partner that does business with the United States military may conduct any commercial activity with Anthropic,” Hegseth wrote in a social media post. The designation comes after weeks of tense negotiations between the Pentagon and Anthropic over how the US military could use the startup’s AI models. In a blog post this week, Anthropic argued its contracts with the Pentagon should not allow for its technology to be used for mass domestic surveillance of Americans or fully autonomous weapons. The Pentagon asked that Anthropic agree to let the US military apply its AI to “all lawful uses” with no specific exceptions. A supply chain risk designation allows the Pentagon to restrict or exclude certain vendors from defense contracts if they are deemed to pose security …

Far-right AfD eyes court win as springboard for state elections in Germany – POLITICO

Far-right AfD eyes court win as springboard for state elections in Germany – POLITICO

The AfD has shifted steadily rightward since its founding in 2013 as a Euroskeptic force, mobilizing an increasingly radicalized base largely around migration. Lately, however, Weidel has tried to tone down the rhetoric to make her party more palatable to mainstream conservatives. It is currently moving to ban Kevin Dorow, a board member of its youth organisation, for remarks that “obviously suggested a closeness to National Socialism”, Die Welt reported. The strategy could test the long-standing firewall that has kept Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s center-right bloc from governing with the far right. A good electoral result in the state of Baden-Württemberg next week could signal that these efforts are paying off. AfD has not performed well historically in the southwestern state, and its candidates are currently polling in third with 19 percent, much higher than its nine percent result five years ago. The party also enjoys some momentum in Berlin, where an Insa survey put the AfD in second place with 17 percent — the first time the party has ranked so highly in the city-state, …

(AP Photo/Jon Super) A Labour MP has hit out at Keir Starmer after the party’s humiliating defeat in the Gorton and Denton by-election. Karl Turner said the result – in which the party came third behind the Greens and Reform UK – was “a catastrophe”. In particular, he blamed the prime minister’s decision to block Manchester mayor Andy Burnham from being Labour’s candidate. The by-election was triggered by the resignation on health grounds of Andrew Gwynne, who won the newly-created seat for Labour with a majority of nearly 13,500 at the 2024 general election. Turner, the MP for Kingston-upon-Hull East, said: “The reality is we’ve ended up with a situation which we could have avoided, that’s just the truth. This was avoidable. But here we are, in Manchester, with the Greens. It’s the worst result the Labour Party could have ever had, frankly. “So here we …

Pope Allegedly Labels “Far Right” His Greatest Concern In Private Meeting

Pope Allegedly Labels “Far Right” His Greatest Concern In Private Meeting

Recent reports claim that in November of 2025 during a private meeting with Spanish Bishops, Pope Leo XIV asserted that the “rise of ultra-right ideology” was his greatest concern.  The comments allegedly came in response to widespread criticism of the church by conservatives against its weak response to militant LGBT ideology and its continuing defense of mass immigration.   The initial claims were published by the Spanish newspaper El País, known as a far-left platform.  The paper says it interviewed some of the Bishops involved in the meeting, and they assert that they were given a directive to “be aware of the intentions of extreme right-wing groups.”  Skeptics suggest that El País may be fabricating or exaggerating the context of the meeting to serve the purposes of the political left, however, it’s hard to deny that the recent positions of the Vatican have been decidedly left wing.  Critics of the church argue that the Vatican “cut a deal” with the Spanish Government for compensation of victims involved in clergy pedophilia cases (the cases were resolved this year in …

DfE to ditch ‘average’ labels for league tables

DfE to ditch ‘average’ labels for league tables

More from this theme Recent articles Schools will no longer be publicly compared to the national “average” for their progress scores in a proposed overhaul of government league tables. Instead, ministers are proposing that schools be listed based on percentiles – so for example, they might be in one of five “quintiles” for pupil progress. The Department for Education has also fleshed out details on how a proposed new “best fit” progress score for low prior attaining pupils could work. Under proposed reforms, league tables would also show the proportion of pupils achieving a grade 7 or above in English and maths GCSE, with breakdowns for key pupil groups. New ratings for progress scores Currently, schools are given progress scores based on how much pupils improve during primary school, between primary school and GCSE and between GCSE and A-level. They are currently listed based on “confidence intervals”. These are “well below average”, “below average”, “average”, “above average” or “well above average”. How performance tables currently look But in a consultation launched yesterday the government said …
