LG Sound Suite Review: Big Sound for Larger Rooms

LG Sound Suite Review: Big Sound for Larger Rooms

Setup was relatively quick and painless. You just have to unbox four speakers, a soundbar, and a subwoofer, attach their power cables, and plug in everything. Pairing happens through the LG ThinQ app, which allows you to set up the Sound Suite system and tune it to exactly where you’re sitting in the room using your cell phone’s microphone. You can also set up each speaker to play music and group it with any other LG smart speakers you might have around your home, like the more affordable $250 M5 bookshelf speaker, to create a whole-home system. Once all the components were synced, I plugged the soundbar into the C5 OLED via HDMI, and was able to easily control everything via the TV remote’s volume and mute buttons. More in-depth settings had to happen in the app, but if you’re anything like me, this won’t become a regular chore. You’ll set it how you like it once and move on. While the pairing functionality with the LG TV was nice, it’s not required–the eARC port …

The Best Large TVs (Best Over 75 Inches): Samsung, LG, and More

The Best Large TVs (Best Over 75 Inches): Samsung, LG, and More

I’ve carefully selected these TVs based on a balance between their value and performance, which is extremely important when you’re watching on a big screen. After all, what’s the use of getting a giant TV if it doesn’t look good? Traits I look for in a large TV include good brightness and contrast, advanced local dimming (read: good backlighting) to reduce light bleed from bright objects on dark backgrounds, accuracy to the director’s intent, and impressive color saturation, especially for HDR (High Dynamic Range) content. For backlit TVs especially, I looked for good screen uniformity, or a lack of noticeable abberations from their miniLEDs that light up the TV panel in weird or glow-y ways. Image processing, or a TV’s ability to reduce artifacts and bring out details, is another major consideration for large TVs, because the bigger the image, the more likely you are to notice fuzzy details or image inconsistencies. 4K Ultra HD (UHD) resolution is a must, of course, but so is good upscaling to raise the quality of lower resolution images …

I watched LG’s new home robot CLOiD do laundry but I have questions

I watched LG’s new home robot CLOiD do laundry but I have questions

CES is always chock-full of robots, and this year electronics giant LG announced a new bot, dubbed CLOiD, that it claims will revolutionize household chores (as in, you won’t have to do them anymore). CLOiD is described as an AI-powered home robot, designed to assist its user with a wide variety of domestic tasks — from folding laundry to making breakfast to patrolling a home for signs of trouble. The company says that, eventually, it envisions the device “evolving into an ambient-care agent that supports everyday life.” The bot was announced during LG’s keynote earlier this week, but it was also available for inspection via rolling presentations on the convention room floor. I went to check one out, where I saw the bot, alongside a human presenter, performing a variety of tasks for an enthusiastic audience. CLOiD has autonomous movement, so it can get around by itself, and comes equipped with a variety of cameras and sensors that, when paired with LG’s smart home ThinQ app, can leverage situational and environmental data to make proactive suggestions for …

2026 Is the Year of the RGB LED TV

2026 Is the Year of the RGB LED TV

For how excellent they’ve come to look, today’s televisions come with a brain-numbing assortment of acronyms for shoppers to parse. It’s like the scariest dinner party I’ve ever attended. Remember LED, QLED, Mini LED, Micro LED, OLED, QD OLED? Meet RGB LED! Sadly, all these acronyms do actually mean something, and this year’s popular newcomer—RGB LED—implies shockingly accurate colors. Hiding behind upcoming panels from Hisense, Sony, Samsung, and LG announced at CES 2026, RGB LED (unhelpfully also called Micro RGB or RGB Mini LED) is the hot panel technology to talk about this year. I just wish they’d call it “Supercolor,” or something folks could actually remember. What Is RGB LED? Courtesy of Samsung Modern TVs compete on the qualities of their backlighting and their color representation. Edge-lit LED TVs of the past were thin, but their darkest tones tended toward the gray instead of the truly black. This has been fixed in recent years by various technologies. Quantum dots help colors appear better on the latest LED TVs (often called QLED). Tech like multi-zone …

How to Choose a Computer Monitor (2025): Everything You Need to Know

How to Choose a Computer Monitor (2025): Everything You Need to Know

All monitors have HDMI and DisplayPort to connect to a PC (or even VGA if it’s a really old one). Those are the basics. If you want the latest of these port standards in monitors, you’re looking for HDMI 2.1 and DisplayPort 2.1. More and more monitors nowadays include a built-in USB hub, which can sometimes include USB-A ports, an Ethernet jack, and more. Once you connect over the upstream USB-C (or USB-B if the monitor’s a bit older), you can plug accessories and peripherals directly into the monitor. That’s particularly useful if your laptop doesn’t have many ports, or if you frequently move your laptop and like to keep it as cable-free as possible. Many monitors also include Power Delivery over USB-C, letting you connect and charge your laptop through a single cable. Some workstation-level monitors take this a step further and also include a KVM (keyboard, video, mouse) switch, which allows you to switch between multiple laptops or PCs, all plugged into the same monitor. Most people don’t need this, but if you …

LG UltraFine Evo 6K 32-inch Monitor Review: More Pixels, Please

LG UltraFine Evo 6K 32-inch Monitor Review: More Pixels, Please

The UltraFine 6K is also a Nano IPS Black display, which is something the Asus model is not. Nano IPS Black is actually a combination of two technologies that improve the image quality of IPS in different ways. Nano IPS enhances color coverage, while IPS Black cranks up the contrast. The combination of the two is pretty spectacular, especially on a monitor this sharp. It covers sRGB and AdobeRGB at a full 100 percent, something I’ve never seen on an IPS monitor before. The color accuracy is also incredibly strong. Right out of the box, I measured the average color error at a Delta-E of 0.62. Anything under 1.0 is considered excellent, even for professional color graders. No further calibration needed here. In terms of brightness, my review unit topped out at 480 nits in standard dynamic range (SDR), which is quite bright. The screen has an anti-reflective, matte coating that deters glare and reflections without dimming the screen too much. This is probably going to bother some people coming from a glossy, older LG …
