Prince Harry and Meghan Markle‘s decision to name their daughter Lilibet has long divided opinion in royal circles.  But it seems her namesake, the late Queen Elizabeth II, was completely on board with it, according to a royal author. Lilibet was the Queen’s childhood nickname, an intimate moniker only used by those closest to her.  Speaking on HELLO!‘s A Right Royal Podcast, author Gyles Brandreth, a close friend of the late monarch, said the Queen responded to the news as any great-grandmother would.  Gyles, who is the author of the new book, Elizabeth: An Intimate Portrait, said the Queen had a very heartwarming reaction when she was told of the name, responding: “That’s lovely.” He said: “I do know that when she heard they were calling her Lili, she said, ‘Oh that’s lovely. Prince Harry feared that his brother Prince William could show “no mercy” towards his family after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was stripped of his titles, a royal author has claimed.  In his new book, Betrayal: Power, Deceit And The Fight For The Future Of The Royal Family, Tom Bower explores the “split between the Houses of Sussex and Windsor”. Betrayal, which is published on 26 March, investigates whether the “broken bonds” between Prince William and Kate, and Harry and Meghan, can ever be repaired. Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s daughter Princess Lilibet – who will turn five in June – is said to have never met one of her closest relatives. The young royal joined her parents on her one and only trip to the UK four years ago – but since her birth in 2021, it’s believed Lilibet has never got to meet her uncle, Prince William.  Harry and Meghan travelled with both their children to the UK in June 2022 for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee celebrations. Meghan Markle enchanted her fans on Valentine’s Day when the Duchess of Sussex shared the cutest photo of Prince Harry with their daughter, Princess Lilibet, four. In the beautiful family photo, which was taken at sunset, Harry was seen looking lovingly at his daughter who was bundled up in his arms. Lilibet was holding a large bunch of red balloons, and she looked so sweet in a pink dress and a pair of tights. In her caption, Meghan said: “These two + Archie = my forever Valentines,” although Prince Archie could not be seen in the photo.
