LL Cool J returns to NCIS on Tuesday, April 28, 2026. And the 58-year-old rapper is excited to be back.  LL, whose real name is James Todd Smith, posted on X: “Looking forward to Part 2 of Sam Hanna’s guest appearance with the @ncisverse cast on #NCIS. It’s fun to be back.” Fans of NCIS were elated to learn that LL, who starred as Special Agent Sam Hanna on the crime drama, is reprising his role and not just for one episode. On Wednesday, April 15, CBS announced a series order for a new spinoff, NCIS: New York, with LL as the lead. According to the show’s logline, Sam Hanna “returns to his hometown of New York City to their field office” and partners with a “roguish agent,” played by Scott Caan.  While on-screen, LL is an ex-Navy SEAL, off screen, he is a husband and father-of-four.
