Ireland wing Lowe out of rest of Six Nations with groin injury

Feb 26 : Ireland will be without experienced wing James Lowe for the remainder of the Six Nations Championship after he was ruled out with a groin injury, officials said on Thursday. Lowe limped off after 20 minutes of Ireland’s 42-21 victory over England at Twickenham last weekend and will now miss the home games against Wales (March 6) and Scotland (March 14). New Zealand-born Lowe, 33, earned his 45th cap against England following his debut in 2020 and has been a key part of coach Andy Farrell’s set-up in recent years. He was, however, left out of the defeat by France in Paris that kicked off the 2026 campaign, before returning to play in the win over Italy in the side’s second fixture. Rupert Lowe launched his party on Friday (Image: Getty) Reform UK has suffered a devastating blow with seven forrmer councillors for the party moving to the new ‘Restore Britain’ established by the Great Yarmouth MP Rupert Lowe. It comes just days after the member of parliament formally established his new political party announcing policies such as banning the Burqa and imposing a policy of mass deportations. Welcoming the defections as a “very important day” for the new party, Mr Lowe, 68, said there would be “many more to come”. The defectors will now form an official grouping on the local authority, which is currently run by Reform. Mr Lowe, himself a former member of Reform who was elected in 2024 for the Great Yarmouth constituency, was kicked out of the party after a public dispute with its leadership. A former businessman, he established a self-run ‘inquiry’ into grooming gangs across the UK, and initially founded Restore Britain as a pressure group before making it into a political party. It begins with a most Sundance-y premise: A frustrated middle-school drama teacher has been rejected by his girlfriend in favor of their boss, the smarmy principal, and thus the teacher decides to get his revenge via the power of theater. Such a set-up has all the makings of the sort of arch dark comedy long favored by the cineratti of Park City. But as the festival packs up in preparation for departure from its longtime home, perhaps it is best if such a premise, the foundation of the film The Musical, is left behind.  There’s a dated quality to director Giselle Bonilla’s film — or, more so, to its script by Alexander Heller. More than one hundred antiques, textiles and unique homeware treasures from designer Pearl Lowe’s personal vintage collection are heading to auction this month. Lowe, whose fans adore her boho glam meets rock-and-roll chic vibe, sold her rambling Somerset home and studio last year before relocating to a charming Notting Hill pied-à-terre. Yet, the downsize from 11 bedrooms to two, or 7,500sq ft to 880sq ft, has presented some storage challenges. In October, Lowe listed some of her prized vintage pieces in a “big vintage fair” on her website and social media, she told Homes & Property. This late Victorian dusty pink chair is one of the lots in the auction, with a guide price of £50-80 Dore & Rees Now, a further 130 pieces from Lowe’s eclectic interiors collection are up for sale through Dore & Rees auction house in Frome.
