Star City creators Matt Wolpert and Ben Nedivi have opened up about the specific storylines that are set to be explored in the For All Mankind spin-off, describing one in particular as “special”. The Apple TV drama, starring Anna Maxwell Martin and Rhys Ifans, will follow the Soviet perspective of the space race, after the nation was the first to land a man – and a woman – on the moon in the original series. For the two showrunners, revisiting the story of the first woman on the moon, Anastasia Belikova (now played by Alice Englert) was a huge moment for them. For All Mankind spin-off Star City is about to bring back some very familiar characters – but they’ve all been recast from the original. The prequel is set in 1960s/70s USSR (in parallel to the early seasons of For All Mankind), telling the space race story from the Soviet perspective after they became the first nation to place a man on the moon in the alt-history series. Within that story, we’re set to see younger versions of iconic For All Mankind characters, most prominently Irina Morozova (played by Svetlana Efremova in For All Mankind and Agnes O’Casey in Star City) and Sergei Nikulov (played by Piotr Adamczyk in for All Mankind and Josef Davies in Star City). Ahead of season 5 beginning, For All Mankind has officially been renewed for a sixth and final season. Apple TV’s alt-history space epic, which follows what would have happened if the Soviet Union had landed a man on the moon before the US and the space race had never ended. Apple TV is looking to the heavens one last time. The streamer has renewed its drama series For All Mankind for a sixth and final season. The pickup comes three days before season five of the show premieres on March 27; season six will debut in 2027. With the renewal, For All Mankind (produced by Sony Pictures Television) will become one of the longest-running series in Apple TV’s six-plus years of offering original programming.
