Marc Skinner calls on Manchester United to invest after ‘punch in the face’

Marc Skinner calls on Manchester United to invest after ‘punch in the face’

Manchester United head coach Marc Skinner says their elimination from the Champions League is the “punch in the face” the club needs to wake up to the gap in investment between themselves and their rivals. United’s European journey ended at the quarter-final stage after they were beaten 2-1 by Bayern Munich in Germany, having lost the first leg 3-2 at Old Trafford last week. The club’s exit from the competition came on the same day as the publication of their accounts for the 2024-25 season, which showed their wage bill was half that of Women’s Super League rivals Arsenal. United also spent far less on agent fees between February 2025 and 2026 than their competitors. Asked whether the expectation on his team is too high given the gap in resources, Skinner gave a bullish response. “I think we will learn from what investment is really needed to go into this level of competition for consistent years,” he said. “I think we’re still learning as a club. I have incredible pressure, you know that, you read …

Marc Andreessen’s Mistake – The Atlantic

Marc Andreessen’s Mistake – The Atlantic

In this worn, domesticated world of ours, there are few truly pristine wildernesses, remote regions where no man has gone before, places unseen by human eyes and unexamined by human exploration. And so I suppose we should be especially grateful for the undiscovered country that is Marc Andreessen’s soul. As you may have heard, a couple of weeks ago, the billionaire investor went on a podcast and said that he aims to have “zero” introspection in his life, or at least “as little as possible.” He added that “I’ve found people who dwell in the past get stuck in the past. It’s a real problem.” This whole introspection thing, Andreessen asserted, is a folly invented in the 20th century by people such as Sigmund Freud: “If you go back 400 years ago, it never would have occurred to anybody to be introspective.” After the podcast aired, he doubled down on X: “It is 100% true that great men and women of the past were not sitting around moaning about their feelings. I regret nothing.” Thomas …

Sofia Coppola taps the whimsy of ’90s Marc Jacobs

Sofia Coppola taps the whimsy of ’90s Marc Jacobs

Slumped into folding chairs inside his New York studio, renowned designer Marc Jacobs and his brand’s creative director, Joseph Carter, ponder the mood of Jacobs’ Spring 2024 ready-to-wear collection. Jacobs and Carter had spent days stacking wigs onto more wigs, playing with cartoonishly large shapes from head to toe, trying to see what beauty and accessories might look best with the collections’ oversized garments. Behind the camera, Jacobs’ friend and occasional creative collaborator, Sofia Coppola, asks whether they’re favoring a serious look, or something more eccentric — in line with Jacobs’ reputation. “We’re leaning towards entertainment,” Jacobs says, before a wry smile creeps onto his face. “And joy.” Fusing couture-level spectacle with crowd-pleasing performance has long been Jacobs’ M.O. Since his early days designing for Perry Ellis, fresh off a winning showcase at the Parsons School of Design’s end-of-term fashion show, Jacobs has relished throwing a wrench in the system. In the early ’90s, a distinct penchant for mischief and a grittily glamorous New York edge quickly earned Jacobs the moniker of fashion’s bad boy. …

Marc Jacobs and Sofia Coppola on Their Shared Punk Ethos and What Really Happened After His Perry Ellis Grunge Collection

Marc Jacobs and Sofia Coppola on Their Shared Punk Ethos and What Really Happened After His Perry Ellis Grunge Collection

Marc, having followed your career and having seen the documentary, I would consider you to be quite a forward-looking person. What was it like to have to step back and do a kind of retrospective of your own career at this point? Coppola: I do consider you to be a forward-looking person—or present, right? Jacobs: I try to be. It wasn’t intentional, but seeing the movie, I realized, through this last process of the last show, how inspired and how excited I was by the past and how it does come up for me repeatedly in whatever my present is. It was great to see them, especially the ’90s, like the X-Girl show. Coppola: I hadn’t thought about that time, so it was fun to revisit. Jacobs: It just took me back to that moment, how different life was then, and there were no smartphones. Coppola: It was just kind of looser and you’d run into people. Jacobs: Just being reminded of those memories feels kind of nice. Marc, there’s a point in the documentary …

Marc Anthony enjoys ‘quality’ time with lookalike model son

Marc Anthony is a devoted father to seven children – his wife, Nadia, is expecting their eighth – and he makes sure to spend quality time with each of them. This week, it was his fourth child, 22-year-old son Ryan, and the father-son duo revealed their matching personalities, as the pair rocked sunglasses and graphic tees, both pouting for the camera. “Quality Father Son time,” Marc captioned the post, which came after his first string of dates in Las Vegas for his first-ever residency. The four-time Grammy winner and eight-time Latin Grammy winner began the show in February 2026, and there will be five more in July and August 2026. Swivel’s Graham Wilson Joins Marc Straus Gallery as Partner

Marc Straus Gallery announced Tuesday that Graham Wilson, the founder of Tribeca’s Swivel Gallery, has joined the gallery as a partner and senior director. As part of the move, Swivel will close its Tribeca space and its artists will move over to Straus, which has locations in Tribeca and the Lower East Side. The latter, located at 299 Grand Street, will host a group exhibition curated by Wilson and showcasing Swivel’s artists, set to open March 19. “The art world is evolving quickly, with rising costs and a growing need for collaboration reshaping gallery operations in New York City,” the gallery said in a press statement. “With our four-story Lower East Side gallery, our Tribeca space, and a talented team, joining forces with Graham allows us to merge our programs, strengthen our support for artists, and create more opportunities for creative growth.” Related Articles In a phone call with ARTnews, Wilson similarly described the move as an effort to better support Swivel’s artists with more gallery infrastructure, as their careers have grown. “It’s about having the right amount …

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff: This isn’t our first SaaSpocalypse

Salesforce CEO Marc Benioff: This isn’t our first SaaSpocalypse

Salesforce pulled out all the stops to convince investors that the AI revolution won’t be its death when it announced fourth-quarter earnings on Wednesday. Salesforce reported a solid quarter of $10.7 billion in revenue, up 13% year-over-year. For the year, it reported $41.5 billion in revenue, up 10% over the previous year, with both results boosted by its $8 billion acquisition of data management company Informatica last May. Net income landed at $7.46 billion, and the company offered strong guidance for the year ahead, projecting revenue of $45.8 billion to $46.2 billion — a 10% to 11% increase. It also said its “remaining performance obligation,” or RPO, is over $72 billion. That’s a figure that shows revenue under contact that has not yet been delivered or recognized as earned revenue. The numbers, though, could only do so much. Software-as-a-service stocks, with Salesforce as their poster child, have been getting hammered lately. Investors fear the rise of AI agents will undermine these companies, making their per-employee-seat business models obsolete. The situation has been dubbed the “SaaSpocalypse.” …
