The Grammy Award-winning rapper returned to the spotlight inside New York’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre on Thursday evening after missing Wednesday’s performance and exiting mid-show on Tuesday night after falling ill. At the time, her rep said she was rushed to the hospital where she was being treated. On Wednesday morning, Megan’s rep shared a statement with The Hollywood Reporter to explain the medical emergency and eventual diagnosis. “On Tuesday evening, Megan was transported to a local hospital to undergo a medical evaluation after experiencing concerning symptoms. Apple Original Films has prevailed in the bidding war for the new feature project from Megan Park, the well-regarded Canadian filmmaker behind the equally well-regarded coming-of-age comedy My Old Ass. LuckyChap, the company run by Margot Robbie, Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara, and Milan Popelka, is attached to produce the untitled feature in association with FilmNation. Apple beat out Warner Bros., Sony, Universal as well as Amazon and Netflix for the project, which was previously known by the title Die Alive. Park wrote and is attached to direct. She will also executive produce. While Apple did not comment on loglines, sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that the project is described as having tones of Adam Sandler’s Big Daddy and Julia Roberts’ Step Mom. The story is said to center on a woman finding out that her much older boyfriend has a wife and kids when they unexpectedly show up on her doorstep. Megan Thee Stallion is hospitalized in New York City after falling ill during a showing of Moulin Rouge! The Musical and exiting the show mid-performance. “During Tuesday night’s production, Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated,” her representative, Didier Morais, tells The Hollywood Reporter. “We will share additional updates as more information becomes available.” The Grammy Award-winning rapper just had her big debut in the show at New York’s Al Hirschfeld Theatre in the role of Zidler, marking not only her first ever Broadway performance but also the first time a woman has performed the role in the beloved and long-running jukebox musical.
