Guthrie left 90 minutes into the morning show’s May 6 broadcast, with her co-anchor Craig Melvin telling viewers: “Savannah had to leave a little early. She’ll be right back tomorrow, though.” Guthrie was indeed back Thursday morning alongside Willie Geist and did not explain the reason for her sudden departure the day before. The Independent has contacted NBC and Guthrie’s representatives for comments. It comes as Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother has been missing for three months after a suspected abduction from her home near Tucson, Arizona.
