Chelsea’s Neto handed one-match suspension for misconduct in Arsenal clash

March 13 : Chelsea forward Pedro Neto has been fined 70,000 pounds ($93,000) and suspended for one match for misconduct after he was sent off in the Premier League defeat by Arsenal this month, the Football Association said on Friday. Neto received two yellow cards in the space of three minutes – one for dissent after an Arsenal goal and the second for a foul on Gabriel Martinelli, in the 2-1 loss to the league leaders. “It was alleged that the player acted in an improper manner by failing to leave the pitch promptly and/or using abusive words towards the match official/s following his dismissal in the 70th minute,” the FA said. It was Chelsea’s ninth red card of the season across all competitions and Neto admitted the charge against him. He will miss the match against Newcastle United on Saturday. Nancy Mace plans to force a House vote next week on her resolution to release sexual misconduct and harassment reports involving members of Congress, she told NBC News on Wednesday. The South Carolina congresswoman’s resolution would require the House Ethics Committee to release all sexual misconduct or harassment reports involving members or their staffers. She introduced it after numerous outlets, including NBC News, revealed that GOP Rep. Tony Gonzales, R-Texas, sent sexually explicit text messages to a former aide with whom he allegedly had an affair. The aide later died by suicide and an attorney for her husband confirmed the authenticity of the texts to NBC News. Gonzales denied last year that he had an affair with the aide and has suggested he is a victim of blackmail by the widower and of a a political attack as he faces a competitive primary March 3 in Texas. Peter Mandelson, a former U.K. ambassador to the United States, has been arrested in London over a criminal investigation into alleged ties to convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. “Officers have arrested a 72-year-old man on suspicion of misconduct in public office,” a Metropolitan Police spokesperson said in a statement on Monday, without naming Mandelson directly as is typical with arrests. The high profile British politician was taken to an undisclosed London police station for questioning over the alleged sharing of confidential material with Epstein, the statement added. It’s understood the arrest was made by the Met Police’s Specialist Crime Directorate.   His resignation in Sept. 2025 as British ambassador to the U.S. followed Mandelson’s name appearing in a release at the time of so-called Epstein files.
