50 MPH E-Scooter? Swiss brand VMAX shows off 3 wide-ranging new models

Swiss e-scooter maker VMAX came out of CES 2026 swinging, unveiling three new electric scooters that span the spectrum from ultra-light commuter to full-on high-performance “why does this go 50 mph?” territory. And unlike some CES announcements that feel more like vaporware than vehicles, these new models are built for real riders with very different needs. The three new scooters – the VX6, VX8, and VX2 Lite – build on VMAX’s existing lineup, which has already found success in Europe and the US. Taken together, they offer a pretty clear picture of where the company thinks the micromobility market is headed: lighter, faster, and more refined, but still (mostly) priced within reach. VX6: a 50-mph electric scooter for the brave Let’s start with the headline grabber. The new VX6 is VMAX’s first true entry into the ultra-high-performance “super-scooter” category, packing dual 60V motors that deliver a claimed 6,000 watts of peak power. That’s enough to push the scooter to a firmware-limited top speed of 50 mph (80 km/h) and climb grades as steep as 50%. …

AltoVolo redefines personal air travel with 220 mph hybrid eVTOL aircraft

AltoVolo redefines personal air travel with 220 mph hybrid eVTOL aircraft

A new personal aircraft is emerging from the crowded advanced air mobility space, and it is not aimed at city air taxis. Developed by AltoVolo, the Sigma is designed as a privately owned hybrid electric aircraft that blends vertical takeoff with jet-style cruise performance. The company says the aircraft could change how personal flight fits into daily life. AltoVolo is led by founder and CEO Will Wood, who has positioned the company toward private ownership rather than shared urban transport. While many competitors focus on short, scheduled hops between dense city centers, AltoVolo is building for long-distance, point-to-point travel. That distinction shapes nearly every aspect of the Sigma’s design. The company has now taken a key step toward commercialization. Potential buyers can apply for a build slot with an initial commitment of £860. AltoVolo has also launched what it describes as the world’s first online eVTOL configurator, allowing customers to customize their aircraft down to seat belt and stitch line colors. The Sigma is designed as a privately owned hybrid electric aircraft that blends vertical …

California Promises ‘Swift Consequences’ For Drivers Who Exceed 100 MPH

California Promises ‘Swift Consequences’ For Drivers Who Exceed 100 MPH

Authored by Cynthia Cai via The Epoch Times (emphasis ours), California is cracking down on extreme speeding in a move that could lead to faster license revocation for drivers exceeding 100 mph on highways, according to the California State Transportation Agency. A speed limit sign in Huntington Beach, Calif., on March 21, 2023. John Fredricks/The Epoch Times Drivers cited by the California Highway Patrol (CHP) for the crime “will have their citation automatically forwarded to the DMV’s Driver Safety Branch—no matter their prior record” under the new joint pilot program between CHP and the Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV), the agency stated in a press release. The DMV will review each case and the person’s driving history to determine the penalty, which may include “suspension or revocation of driving privileges,” before the person is even scheduled for court. “We believe that early intervention is the key to saving lives,” said DMV Director Steve Gordon in a press release. “We want to take immediate action against dangerous drivers before their carelessness leads to a deadly crash.” …

Talaria Komodo launched as new 65 MPH electric dirt bike

Talaria has been steadily pushing further into high-performance electric off-road bikes, and its latest machine looks like a serious leap forward. The new Talaria Komodo electric dirt bike cranks things up in just about every way, from power and speed to battery capacity and full-size dirt bike geometry. On paper at least, this is no longer just a Sur Ron–class trail toy competitor, but something that’s starting to blur the line between lightweight electric dirt bikes and full-on electric motorcycles. With a claimed 32 kW of peak power, the Komodo is by far the most powerful production bike Talaria has announced so far. That kind of output puts it well beyond the typical 6–10 kW machines that dominate the electric dirt bike space today. Power comes from a 96V 45Ah lithium battery, delivering just over 4.3 kWh of capacity. Talaria claims up to 115 km (71.5 miles) of range at a steady 45 km/h (28 mph), though aggressive trail riding or Hyper mode will obviously bring that number down quickly.
