MSE urges UK renters to make ‘simple check’ for ‘protection’
On May 1, new renters’ rights laws came into force in England, bringing major changes to the rental market. Alongside these changes, there is another important thing tenants should check if they are paying – or have already paid – a deposit. Guidance from MoneySavingExpert, updated on May 1, 2026, says tenancy deposits must be protected.
