Prince William and Princess Kate’s nanny Maria’s lesser-known nickname revealed

Maria Teresa Turrión Borrallo is Prince William and Princess Kate’s nanny for their three children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis. She’s worked with the family full-time since 2014, following the birth of Prince George in 2013. While she remains largely behind the scenes, she has been pictured helping out at big royal events and during trips abroad. It’s unknown if the royal children use Maria’s given name when talking to her, but did you know she also has a lesser-known moniker?  Maria is a Norland nanny, which means she was trained at Norland College in Bath, a prestigious college that’s been running since 1892. In a video shared by the institution, it was revealed that pupils refer to themselves as a ‘Norlander’.  © Pool/Max MumbyPrincess Charlotte and Theodora Williams, accompanied by Princess Charlotte’s nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, at the wedding of Princess Eugenie Dr. Rebecca Digby, Vice Principal and Head of Learning, Teaching and Research at Norland College, has previously told HELLO! that Norland nannies’ “high level of attention to detail,” in …

King Charles’ beloved nanny Mabel Anderson: meet his surrogate mother who he could share his ‘feelings and frustrations’ with

Outside of his family, King Charles has shared a decades-spanning bond with one particular woman, Mabel Anderson. She was just 22 years old when the future monarch was born in 1948. Mabel reportedly first applied to be an assistant nurse to Charles and was the only applicant who was “not shaking with nerves”.  The younger of two Scottish nannies who cared for Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip’s eldest son, Mabel came to be “a surrogate mother” to the Prince who would one day become King.  “She was clearly really close to him in his formative years,” Ailsa Anderson, the late Queen’s former private secretary, tells HELLO!. “And clearly she’s still really special to the King and to his heart.” Nanny to a future King In the 1994 book The Prince of Wales: A Biography, author Jonathan Dimbleby wrote that Mabel “fully lived up” to Prince Philip’s expectations after the royals’ older nanny, Helen Lightbody, left.  According to Jonathan, Mabel “was devoted to her employers, she had her own clear sense of how to handle the …

George and Amal Clooney’s internal parenting struggle with twins’ nanny: ‘I felt like my mother’

George and Amal Clooney are one of Hollywood’s favourite A-list couples, best known for their glamorous red carpet appearances, philanthropy and romantic love story. However, we don’t often get a glimpse into what the couple are like as parents, and on the rare occasions we do, it’s been a revealing insight into the family dynamic, such as the strict house rule for their twins that they revealed in summer 2025. The two are the proud parents of twins Alexander and Ella, who were born on 6 June 2017, and the Jay Kelly actor recently described them as ‘rotten to the core’, in a playful way, joking about how the two tease him in Italian, a skill they picked up spending summers at the family’s Lake Como villa, a language he doesn’t understand. But what are George and Amal like as parents? © WireImageAmal Clooney and George Clooney at the Jay Kelly Headline Gala at the 69th BFI London Film Festival They appear to be relatively hands-on, where possible, as he revealed in an interview with …

How royal nanny Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo became the Wales kids’ modern-day Mary Poppins who brings ‘extra sparkle’ to family life – exclusive

Norland nannies don’t float in on umbrellas, but the modern-day Mary Poppinses are magical in their own right. Having undergone substantial training, nannies like Prince William and Princess Catherine’s employee, Maria Teresa Turrion Borrallo, are well-prepared for the demands of the role, and don’t need a magic carpet bag to do the job… just Norland College.  Graduates from the prestigious university in Bath have gone on to work for prominent families, including the royal household, from Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis‘ nanny Maria to Tiggy Legge-Bourke, former nanny to King Charles‘ sons, Prince William and Prince Harry. “High-profile families recognize the high-level of training our students have. It’s three years, it’s practical, it’s theoretical,” Elspeth Pitman, Norland Nanny and Head of Graduates: Placements, Employment and Alumni, exclusively tells HELLO!. “They can support with the psychology elements; they could support with the care of the child. We teach them about working with the whole family, with other professionals. So their training really is quite extensive. So high-profile families would hopefully choose us for that reputation.” She …
