Bezos Boycott, Tom Ford Sighting, Streep’s No-Show

Bezos Boycott, Tom Ford Sighting, Streep’s No-Show

While The Devil Wears Prada 2 opening this weekend will no doubt be fashion’s top drama at the box office, Monday night’s Met Ball will have plenty of its own. Sure, its theme “Fashion Is Art” is true — but lest we forget, it’s also commerce. This Monday’s Met Gala — “fashion’s biggest night of the year,” as the cliché goes — will deliver beaucoup theatrical looks, with Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman, Venus Williams and of course Vogue’s Anna Wintour as co-chairs, and a host committee that includes Saint Laurent’s Anthony Vaccarello, Doja Cat, Elizabeth Debicki, Teyana Taylor, Lena Dunham and Zoë Kravitz. But the intrigue off the red carpet runs just as hot, with billionaires Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez Bezos as co-chairs and Amazon as lead sponsor. That’s the commerce part. The Bezos pair are being accused online of “buying their way into culture.” Whatever works is no doubt their sentiment. The first question: will Amazon’s involvement drive celebrities away? With the anti-oligarch/anti-tech activist group Everyone Hates Elon (@everyonehateselon) papering New York for the past month with …

The six-member group, founded by music executives at the K-pop titan Hybe and Geffen Records on the 2023 survival competition Dream Academy: The Debut, is currently facing boycott from fans — known as Eyekons — who are demanding transparency over Bannerman’s abrupt hiatus announced in February. Consisting of Bannerman, Daniela Avanzini, Lara Raj, Megan Skiendiel, Sophia Laforteza and Yoonchae Jeung, Katseye was conceptualized by the same team behind the K-pop megagroup BTS, regarded as one of the most successful boy bands of all time, to form a “global, diverse and multitalented girl pop …

Part of that low price comes from the high percentage of acrylic in the fabric, which makes them a little less cozy than pairs that lean more heavily on cotton or polyester (though not enough to affect their all-day wearability). All that acrylic at least seems to help with making the socks quick-drying, helping keep funk and sweat on a leash. Paired with some all-over padding, Uniqlo’s Pile Low-Cut Socks can sub in nicely for a low-key workout or jog. France to revoke US envoy Kushner’s government access after no-show

Charles Kushner attends the funeral for Ivana Trump, socialite and first wife of Donald Trump, at St. Vincent Ferrer Church, in New York City, US, July 20, 2022. JEENAH MOON / REUTERS On Monday, February 23, France moved to block US envoy Charles Kushner from having access to government ministers, after he failed to show up to explain comments about a killed far-right activist. The move is the latest instance of diplomatic friction between Paris and the United States under President Donald Trump, with Paris bristling at what it sees as repeated interference by Washington in domestic matters. Kushner, whose son Jared is married to Trump’s daughter Ivanka, has already been summoned once before over his criticism of France’s handling of antisemitism. He skipped that meeting as well, sending another official instead. Foreign Minister Jean-Noël Barrot summoned Kushner after the US embassy in Paris reposted comments by the Trump administration in Washington about slain far-right activist Quentin Deranque. Deranque, 23, died from head injuries following clashes between radical-left and far-right supporters on the sidelines of …
