reMarkable Paper Pure Review 2026: The Best Distraction-Free Tablet For Work And Note-Taking

We hope you love the products we recommend! All of them were independently selected by our editors. Just so you know, HuffPost UK may collect a share of sales or other compensation from the links on this page if you decide to shop from them. Oh, and FYI — prices are accurate and items in stock as of time of publication. I first got my hands on the reMarkable Paper Pro last year and it’s safe to say that I haven’t shut up about it since. Swapping to an e-ink tablet ended my years of lugging notebooks and half-finished diaries everywhere, and having my notes, calendars and to-do lists all in one place (without the risk of losing a sheet) turned out to be the answer to so many of my organisational issues. So naturally, when the Swedish tech firm invited me to roadtest their latest offering, I couldn’t have said yes faster. Enter the reMarkable’s new entry-level tablet, the Paper Pure. As with all of reMarkable’s products, the Paper Pure is essentially a digital …

Nobody talks about this polished open-source note-taking app, and I don’t get it

Nobody talks about this polished open-source note-taking app, and I don’t get it

As a tech writer, I’m constantly checking out new writing and note-taking tools, and whenever I do, I’m typically searching for the “holy grail” of that niche. With note-taking apps, I’ve tried far more than I’m willing to admit. A few, like Obsidian, Notion, and even OneNote, have been solid. However, no matter the tool I try, I’ve always come back to Joplin. For regular, everyday work, it’s polished, easy to use, cross-platform, and offers freedom from lock-in. It’s the true king of the note-taking niche. It earns its place slowly—and that’s exactly the point Design sometimes signals quality, and Joplin doesn’t look spectacular, especially not if you’re used to Notion or Obsidian. So I understand how this first experience can make someone jump to a conclusion. However, the seemingly plain design of Joplin feels deliberate. You get a three-panel layout: notebooks, notes, and an editor, and it stays consistent across macOS, Windows, and Linux. Aside from the interface, you also get a consistent set of keyboard shortcuts, with mobile apps following the same structure …

The Risks of AI Recording Devices and Note-Taking Assistants in the Classroom

The Risks of AI Recording Devices and Note-Taking Assistants in the Classroom

Recently, US classrooms have dealt with several forms of authoritarian and dystopian policies, ranging from Texas A&M banning Plato to UNC Chapel Hill secretly filming faculty and students in the classroom. Now, they may be facing digital authoritarianism. Since 2023, students, faculty, and staff have integrated various Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) platforms into their day-to-day. In particular, they have increasingly adopted the use of AI note-taking apps like Otter.ai, as well as various recording devices like smart glasses. As a result, individuals are progressively recording faculty, staff, and students without consent or transparency, oftentimes targeting women, and students and faculty of color. Although many states like West Virginia are a one-party consent state, the increased and unchecked use of AI recording devices at universities poses serious safety risks for the campus communities across the United States. Academic freedom is essential for scholarly dialogue, and that comes with the reasonable expectation of the right to privacy in the classroom setting. Universities maintaining that right to privacy is even more crucial as Higher Ed in the United …

Discord is secretly one of the best note-taking apps I’ve ever used

Discord is secretly one of the best note-taking apps I’ve ever used

I know. I know what you’re probably thinking at this point. Out of the hundreds and thousands of note-taking apps flooding the internet (with new ones dropping every day), why on earth would I pick Discord? While I’ll explain below, to give you some context, I’m a note-taking aficionado. I’ve tried everything from minimalist note-taking apps to spending hours customizing a Notion workspace to using AI-powered tools like NotebookLM to handle my note-taking. I’m also a student, and while I’ve come to prefer typed notes for certain courses, my major involves a lot of math-based courses, and I find that handwritten notes are better for that. So, I use either my e-ink note-taking tablet or my iPad and GoodNotes for handwritten notes. But for years, I’ve been trying to figure out a reliable system for quick, everyday digital notes. And after all that searching, the answer turned out to be sitting in my taskbar the whole time: Discord. Why use Discord for note-taking, anyway? It sounds strange, I know Image Credit: DIA TV / Shutterstock …

5 simple note-taking tweaks that make NotebookLM twice as smart

5 simple note-taking tweaks that make NotebookLM twice as smart

There’s an old saying about information. Garbage in, garbage out. For all the powerful capabilities of NotebookLM, the AI notetaking tool is only as smart as the sources we feed it. Yes, the sources are the ingredients, and the prompts make the magic sauce. However, the recipe is also about how we write our notes before they ever become sources. AI chatbots are machine parsers after all. Slight adjustments to how we structure, add context, and format each note before uploading them helps NotebookLM summarize them better. The effort spent on the notes pays itself back when we need to refer to them later. OS Android, iOS, Web-based app Developer Google Pricing model Free Structure your notes with proper headings Make them scannable for machines and humans NotebookLM scans each source to locate relevant sections when you ask a question. This new note-taking app has everything I ever asked for — and it looks incredible too

This new note-taking app has everything I ever asked for — and it looks incredible too

Note-taking is one of those things that sounds easy until you try to do it well. Capture fast enough to keep up with your thoughts, but structured enough to find things later. Connected enough to surface patterns, but flexible enough not to slow you down. It’s a hard design problem, and most apps, even the beloved ones, only solve part of it. I’ve tried most of the big note-taking apps, and I can say without much hesitation that Tana is doing something none of them are. It’s not just another entry in the list of free note-taking apps with flawless sync, but a different kind of tool entirely. One built on the idea that your notes should connect the way your thoughts do. It also happens to look stunning, which doesn’t hurt. OS Windows, iOS, Android Developer Tana Labs Inc.
