Perhaps the most famous Beatles Wife is the artist, musician, and activist Yoko Ono, who Lennon met in 1966. They got together in 1968, while Lennon was still very much with his wife Cynthia, who will be played in the film(s) by Morfydd Clark. After his divorce, Lennon married Ono in 1969. She’ll be played by Japanese actress Anna Sawai, who is best known for her TV work on Pachinko, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters, and Shogun, for which she won an Emmy. More importantly, she knows Godzilla! And Kong!! “Cool little place, this, isn’t it?” Paul McCartney exclaimed as he looked off into the rafters, then to the sold-out crowd of 1,200 ecstatic fans at the Fonda Theatre in Hollywood Friday night, minutes after he and his band had launched the night with Beatles classic “Help.” As McCartney suggests, this is a different locale than he’d usually play, far more intimate than the usual arena or stadium gig one of the world’s most legendary artists would normally take on when they hit the road. And coming just a day after the singer dropped a new single and announced his first album in five years this week, it was impossible for it not to feel celebratory. Few human beings convey a sense of effortless cool quite like Sir Paul McCartney. On the 10th of April 1970, Paul McCartney announced what had, by then, been falsely reported so many times as to seem almost impossible—The Beatles, the biggest band to ever do it, were finished. Within a week, McCartney had released his first solo record. Before the year was out, all three of his former bandmates had done the same. And as of today, the solo Beatles have collectively produced around 85 albums, depending how you count. That’s a lot to wade through for anyone keen on venturing beyond the band’s tight 12-studio-album discography. But wade we must, and there is so much to learn in our wading. These records are charged with parting barbs and so variously excellent and awful and bewildering. Paul McCartney was front and center at his daughter Stella McCartney’s fashion show on Wednesday, with his adoring wife, Nancy Shevell, by his side. The pair showed up to support the fashion designer, who showcased her fall/winter 2026-2027 collection at a riding hall during Paris Fashion Week. The Beatles icon arrived in a navy blue suit worn over a white shirt, and Paul added a blue scarf to ward off the cold. Paul McCartney was able to count on a little help from his friends, as Paul Mescal was among the attendees at a special screening for the legendary Beatles musician’s new documentary project. Oscar-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville‘s movie Man on the Run screened Wednesday at a London event ahead of its global streaming launch via Prime Video on Feb. 27.
