“Just talking to the president”: Woods reportedly called Trump prior to DUI arrest

Tiger Woods reportedly called Donald Trump shortly before the legendary golfer was arrested for DUI. Woods was involved in a car accident in Jupiter, Fla. on Friday. In footage shared earlier this week, Woods told officers that he was briefly distracted by his phone before he clipped the trailer of a vehicle in front of him. Several pills were discovered in his pocket. Woods was arrested and charged with misdemeanor DUI and refusal to submit to a lawful test. He pleaded not guilty to the charges on Tuesday. TMZ shared police bodycam footage from the scene on Thursday that showed Woods talking into his cell phone away from officers. “Thank you so much. All right. You got it. Bye,” Woods said into his phone as an officer approached.  Walking back toward the crash with an officer, Woods said he was “just talking to the president.” Trump commented on the crash shortly after it happened, speaking to reporters outside of Air Force One. The president called Woods “a very close friend of mine.” “I feel so …

New Footage Appears To Show Alex Pretti Spit At ICE, Break SUV Tail Light In Prior Minneapolis Confrontation

New Footage Appears To Show Alex Pretti Spit At ICE, Break SUV Tail Light In Prior Minneapolis Confrontation

The killing of ICU nurse Alex Pretti in Minneapolis last Saturday sparked national outrage – particularly when it comes to the 2nd Amendment and his right to carry while protesting. The incident resulted in two federal agents involved in the shooting being placed on leave, and the ouster of US border patrol chief Gregory Bovino as the face of the Trump administration’s mass deportation drive. While the circumstances of his death are still under investigation – many believe this  gun went off after an agent took it off his body, spooking the shooter or shooters – he was known to federal authorities, and had suffered a broken rib during a violent confrontation with agents about a week before his death, CNN reported Tuesday. Now, new footage appears to show Pretti armed and spitting at ICE agents before he smashes the taillights of their black SUV during a wild confrontation roughly a week before his death.  Screenshot via The News Movement The video, verified by the BBC, captures what appears to be Pretti screaming at federal agents while they were driving away during a Jan. …

Trump clashes with NRA gun lobby, growing Republican "unease" prior to midterms

Prominent Republicans and gun rights advocates helped elicit a White House turnabout this week after bristling over the administration’s characterization of Alex Pretti as responsible for his own death because he lawfully possessed a weapon when he was shot at in Minneapolis. Homeland security chief Kristi Noem is also finding herself at the centre of the controversy. FRANCE 24’s Kethevane Gorjestani tells us what’s going on behind the scene. Source link

ICE officer who killed Minneapolis woman had prior violent arrest that made him “fear for his life”

ICE officer who killed Minneapolis woman had prior violent arrest that made him “fear for his life”

ICE officer Jonathan Ross, who shot and killed Minneapolis resident Renee Nicole Good in her car on Wednesday, was recently in court to testify on a violent arrest last year that saw him dragged by a fleeing driver. According to court documents obtained by MS NOW, Ross was on patrol last June in Bloomington, Minnesota, when he stopped a car driven by Roberto Carlos Muñoz, a Guatemalan citizen with previous sex crimes convictions. The traffic stop escalated when Muñoz attempted to flee as Ross broke the rear driver’s side window, dragging him in the process. Ross testified that he was able to fire his Taser into Muñoz’s face “ten times” and “saw the impacts on his face,” but Muñoz did not stop the car. “I was fearing for my life,” Ross testified. “I knew I was going to get drug.” Start your day with essential news from Salon.Sign up for our free morning newsletter, Crash Course. Acting ACNA archbishop faced claims of financial misconduct prior to current role

(RNS) — Bishop Julian Dobbs, who was appointed last month to serve as acting archbishop of the Anglican Church in North America, was previously investigated — and reportedly cleared — of two instances of financial misconduct, both allegedly involving tens of thousands of dollars. Dobbs is leading the troubled denomination as it faces a broader reckoning over bishop misconduct. He has denied the claims against him. “I stand by the integrity of my ministry and am grateful for the independent reviews that have confirmed my conduct was beyond reproach,” Dobbs said in a statement to RNS. “With this clarity, I remain focused on leading our clergy and congregations forward in the mission Christ has given us.” According to a report Tuesday (Dec. 30) from The Washington Post, Barnabas Aid, a global nonprofit aiding persecuted Christians, accused Dobbs and his wife of mismanaging over $28,000. Dobbs held various leadership positions at Barnabas Aid USA, the national chapter, from 2006-2018. He and his wife, who worked at the nonprofit as an office manager, were investigated by the …

No longer was a paycheck enough, these bright-eyed twentysomethings wanted purpose. And in Christian circles, this generational trend was sanctified and spiritualized. Careers became callings. Jobs became vocations. And all of it could and should be done for the glory of …
