People Born In The 60s & 70s Are Proud Of 10 Things That Younger Generations Are Embarrassed Of These Days

Today’s society is many ways built on a platform of constant stimulation and comfort. Because things were so different in the past, people born in the 60s and 70s are proud of several things that those in younger generations are embarrassed by today. While embarrassment isn’t necessarily a bad thing, as it prompts the discomfort that creates growth, many young people hide from it today out of fear of social pain. They’re facing an epidemic of loneliness, so, of course, any feeling or experience that makes them feel like an outsider feels like a personal attack. However, people in older generations aren’t as likely to be afraid to face challenges and discomfort in these ways. The youngest son of David and Victoria and arguably the only one with a clear career plan (his brothers have dabbled in everything from football to fashion) is playing the first of three gigs at the Courtyard Theatre in London with his three-piece band, The Breakers. The Grade II-listed former library in Hoxton is an intimate venue that once played host to future stars like Billie Eilish and FKA twigs; no doubt Cruz would like to reach those lofty heights. The crowd tonight is a mix of photogenic Gen Z model types, some moody-looking rockers and a group of older women clustered right at the front of the stage wielding large plastic glasses of white wine. David Beckham fans? Cruz’s aunties? I can’t be …

Speaking to Lauren Laverne on Radio 4’s Desert Island Discs, Pascoe said she feels speaking about IVF on stage “feels like a positive way to talk about something that people feel very isolated in”. “When we first started trying for children doing IVF, I couldn’t do stand-up about it because it was far too raw,” she explained. “I only really spoke about infertility once I had children and it was reflexing. I also think that’s because I couldn’t be funny about it until I knew …

In a TikTok video, a mom named Maren Droubay felt proud when her daughter affirmed that she knows who she is, in response to being bullied at school. Military Families Anxious About Unknowns of Iran War, Proud of Their Service Members

Military Families Anxious About Unknowns of Iran War, Proud of Their Service Members

CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — In the military-heavy communities surrounding Fort Campbell, a sprawling U.S. Army base that straddles the Tennessee-Kentucky line, the war in Iran is on a lot of people’s minds. The base is home to the 101st Airborne Division, known as “the Screaming Eagles,” which has been a key force in America’s major conflicts since World War II. After Sept. 11, 2001, tens of thousands of troops from the post started regular deployments to Afghanistan and Iraq. During troop surges in those countries, yearly combat casualties in the division surpassed some of its deadliest years in Vietnam. The towns of Oak Grove, Kentucky, and Clarksville, Tennessee, surround the base and cater to the soldiers there with military clothing stores, barbershops and fast food restaurants. War memorials and monuments fill the cities’ green spaces. There are American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars posts and military support centers. At Austin Peay State University, in Clarksville, a third of the students are military or veterans. ‘Mixed emotions’ about the conflict Juan Munoz is an Army …

The Blurred Lines Between ICE and the Proud Boys

The Blurred Lines Between ICE and the Proud Boys

“We’ve kind of gotten what we want, right? There’s no reason to fucking protest,” Enrique Tarrio, a longtime leader of the Proud Boys, told me earlier this week over the phone while he was taking a minute to charge his Tesla. We were speaking about why his group had receded from the streets. His answer: He no longer felt compelled to show up with other Proud Boys to fight left-wing protesters, because the federal government was doing the job itself. A year ago, it seemed that the Proud Boys and other right-wing extremists were poised for a renaissance. These groups had been in a lull because much of their leadership, including Tarrio, was imprisoned for involvement in the January 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol. But at the beginning of his second term, President Trump issued pardons and commutations to some 1,500 of the rioters. Having once told the Proud Boys to “stand back and stand by,” Trump has now effectively opened the way for extremist militias—with their signature assault rifles and tactical gear—to antagonize …

Prince William ‘immensely proud’ of meaningful new role

The Prince of Wales has said he is “immensely proud” as he has become Patron of Max Worsley’s The Onwards Expedition. Max is the son of the late explorer and SAS officer, General Sir Richard Worsley, who sadly died in 2016 after he collapsed just 30 miles from the end of a 950-mile solo trek across the Antarctic. Now, on the 10th anniversary of his death, it has been revealed that the future King will be supporting Max, who will set out this November with Norwegian adventurer Martin Nesse to ski completely unsupported, from the edge of the continent to the Geographic South Pole, following in his father’s footsteps. “I was immensely proud to have supported his father, Henry, and it is deeply moving to see Max skiing the same route ten years on, demonstrating the same courage, determination and sense of purpose that defined his father’s life,” William said in a statement. He continued: “This expedition is not only a powerful tribute to Henry’s legacy, but also a reminder of Antarctica’s vital importance to …

Donnelly’s long-time presenting partner had consumed more than twice the legal alcohol limit when his car collided with two others in March 2018. He was fined £86,000 and banned from driving for 20 months. McPartlin stepped away from his presenting duties, with Holly Willoughby stepping in to host that year’s series of I’m a Celebrity with Donnelly, who was left “angry” by his co-host’s behaviour. But Donnelly, who launched to fame in 1989 alongside McPartlin on TV series Byker Grove, has now commended his co-star’s decision to step away from the spotlight, during which time he went to rehab, in a new interview. “What I most admire is that with the challenges he’s faced, especially over the last few years, Ant …
