Apple Pulled Cal AI for Deceptive Billing Design, Not External Payments

Apple Pulled Cal AI for Deceptive Billing Design, Not External Payments

Apple recently cracked down on Cal AI, an app owned by MyFitnessPal that tried to skirt Apple’s in-app purchase rules. Apple told TechCrunch that it briefly pulled the calorie-counting app last week for violating purchasing guidelines and using a deceptive billing design. When the app was pulled last week, there was speculation that it was removed for implementing web-based payments, something that is now allowed in the U.S. Apple said that’s not the whole story, though, and the app was violating other guidelines. Apple’s ongoing legal battle with Epic Games led a judge to force Apple to allow U.S. developers to include links to external payment systems in their apps, but apps that are not classified as reader apps also have to include an in-app purchase option. Apps like Netflix and Spotify that offer streaming content are considered reader apps, but Cal AI is not. As a non-reader app, Cal AI was allowed to direct users to a non-Apple purchase option for a subscription, which it did with a purchase flow using Stripe, but the …

Frank Marshall Says ESPN2 Pulled ‘Rachel, Breathe’ Over Rights Dispute

Frank Marshall Says ESPN2 Pulled ‘Rachel, Breathe’ Over Rights Dispute

Director Frank Marshall says his documentary Rachel, Breathe was pulled from ESPN2 shortly before it was supposed to air Sunday night due to a disagreement with the network over rights to the project. “I’m sad to report that RACHEL, BREATHE, will not premiere on ESPN2 today,” Marshall posted on X on Sunday. “After several days of negotiations that should have been very simple and were not about money, but rights, the ESPN lawyers stopped talking to us an hour before broadcast and said, ‘sign it now or we are pulling the show’. I’m extremely disappointed for Rachel and John and entire team that spent 2 years making this film about hope, love and friendship.  We remain genuinely excited for the day this documentary reaches the world, it is simply not tonight. And just like Rachel, we remain resilient and the moment I know where and when the premiere is, you will hear from me.” I’m sad to report that RACHEL, BREATHE, will not premiere on ESPN2 today. After several days of negotiations that should have …

Coronation Street and Emmerdale pulled from schedules again tonight

Coronation Street and Emmerdale pulled from schedules again tonight

There’s some bad news for Coronation Street and Emmerdale fans looking to tune into the next slice of drama tonight – neither of them will be on air. Both shows are typically broadcast every weeknight for 30 minutes, in a new soaps “power hour” scheduling pattern that was launched in January. However, over recent weeks, a number of episodes have been dropped and shunted to a rare Sunday outing instead. Tonight (April 14), they make way for ITV coverage of the England v Spain FIFA Women’s World Cup 2027 Qualifier. Seema Jaswal presents the match, with analysis from Karen Carney and Anita Asante live from Wembley Stadium. Viewers will be pleased to hear that the episodes will air in their usual slots from tomorrow. Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) heads to the police station in tomorrow’s episode. ITV Following a dramatic cliffhanger in Monday’s Corrie – which saw a badly beaten Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) turn up on Sarah Platt’s (Tina O’Brien) doorstep wishing to report his violent husband Theo Silverton (James Cartwright) to the police – …

Scarlett Johansson on Being ‘Pulled Apart’ Over Looks as Young Actress

Scarlett Johansson on Being ‘Pulled Apart’ Over Looks as Young Actress

Scarlett Johansson is getting candid about the challenges working as a young actress in the early 2000s, saying it was “socially acceptable” for women to be “pulled apart for how they looked.” The Oscar-nominated actress, who scored her breakout roles in 2003’s Lost in Translation and Girl with a Pearl Earring, said during a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning that it was a “really harsh time” during that period. “It was tough. There was a lot placed on how women looked,” Johansson explained. “What was offered at that time for women my age, as far as acting roles or opportunities, was much slimmer than it is now.” More than two decades later, the Jurassic World: Rebirth star is happy to see “much more empowering roles available” for young women now compared to when she was in her 20s, as it was “Slim Pickens” during her early days. “You would get really pigeon-holed and offered the same [roles]. It would be like the other woman, or the side piece, the bombshell,” she recalled. “That was the archetype …

The final Great Celebrity Bake Off episode has been pulled – as it features sacked BBC host Scott Mills | UK News

The final episode of The Great Celebrity Bake Off For Stand Up To Cancer has been cancelled over allegations made against Scott Mills. The former Radio 2 DJ, who was sacked by the BBC over an accusation relating to his “personal conduct”, appears on the Channel 4 show. A spokesperson for the broadcaster said: “Having carefully considered the circumstances, we’ve taken the decision not to air the final episode of the 2026 series of The Great Celebrity Bake Off For Stand Up to Cancer, featuring Scott Mills. “Acknowledging the seriousness of the accusations that have been made against Scott, we don’t believe it would be appropriate to air the episode at this time.” Channel 4 has confirmed that an alternative episode of the show, which has been airing weekly since 22 March, will be broadcast instead. It emerged after his BBC sacking that the Metropolitan Police had launched an investigation into Mills in 2016 over “allegations of serious sexual offences against a teenage boy” between 1997 and 2000. The physics of no return: What actually happens if you get pulled into a black hole

The physics of no return: What actually happens if you get pulled into a black hole

In 1916, only a year after Albert Einstein had published his general theory of relativity, Karl Schwarzschild used mathematical calculations to show this: If sufficient mass could be placed into an extremely small volume, then this sufficiently dense mass would create a zone where gravity is so strong that nothing, including light, could escape from it. One hundred years later, scientists have actually imaged the shadow of such an object. They have also recorded the gravitational waves produced when two of these celestial bodies collide. However, the ultimate question (the ultimate unresolved question) in science about the fate of matter that crosses an event horizon of a black hole is still unanswered. The answer includes a long list of things: how atomic structure changes or gets stretched during the collapse of the star, spatial distortion due to relativistic time dilation, luminous rings of matter and debris surrounding the black hole, and the nature of the event horizon itself (which has no physical wall). It is simply becoming an irreversible relationship with the universe beyond the …

Coronation Street and Emmerdale caught in schedule shake-up tonight as episodes pulled from usual slot

Coronation Street and Emmerdale caught in schedule shake-up tonight as episodes pulled from usual slot

In a major ITV scheduling shake up tonight, both Coronation Street and Emmerdale have had episodes pulled from their usual slots. Both soaps usually air every weeknight for 30-minutes each between 8pm and 9pm. However fans have had Friday’s instalment stripped away due to ITV1 airing sports coverage instead. Neither Coronation Street and Emmerdale will air at all on Friday to instead make room for the England v Uruguay international friendly football game taking place at Wembley Stadium. ITV1’s coverage will begin at 7pm, ready for a 7.45pm kick-off time, on Friday 27 March, meaning Coronation Street and Emmerdale will not air in their usual time slots. England forward Marcus Rashford. Jacques Feeney/Offside/Offside/Getty Images However, to make up for the loss, ITV has scheduled an additional episode of both soaps to air on Sunday instead, so fans will still get five instalment of their favourite show this week, just not at the usual time. On Sunday 29 March, Emmerdale will air at the earlier time of 7pm, followed by Coronation Street at 7.30pm, both on ITV1. …
