The ITV soap is currently depicting the harrowing ordeal of Todd Grimshaw, portrayed by Gareth Pierce, who has endured months of physical and emotional abuse at the hands of his partner, Theo Silverton (James Cartwright). In the forthcoming instalment, viewers will witness Grimshaw finally report Silverton to the police following a “horrific beating” in a specially stylised episode that uses purple to visually represent those affected by domestic violence. A preview of Wednesday night’s broadcast reveals Weatherfield residents, including Tyrone Dobbs (Alan Halsall) and Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), adorned in purple attire or accessories.
