Good afternoon and welcome to our live blog for the Sidemen FC vs YouTube Allstars charity football match at Wembley. Returning for its seventh instalment, the event is organised by YouTube group, the Sidemen. 90,000 fans will arrive in north-west London to witness their favourite content creators and online personalities feature in a blockbuster at England’s showpiece stadium. The event is a fantastic way of raising money for charity, with last year’s edition generating over £4.7 million. This year, all proceeds will go to the following charities. Bright Side: a grant-making charity that helps individuals “find and maintain a safe place to call home” and aids “young people in accessing education, spaces and opportunities.” M7 Education: an educative organisation which “helps teachers bring learning to life through amazing, memorable school trips and workshops.” This game is the 10th anniversary of this fundraiser. Three matches were hosted at The Valley, Championship outfit Charlton Athletic’s home, between 2017 and …

Micro RGB TVs Were Everywhere at CES, but TCL’s QM8L Could Put Them to Shame

Micro RGB TVs Were Everywhere at CES, but TCL’s QM8L Could Put Them to Shame

TCL’s 2026 TVs are here, and it’s an impressive slate starring the new QM8L and QM7L Super Quantum Dot TVs and the RM9L Micro RGB TV. Prices start at $1,200. The premium QM8L is the follow-up to the excellent QM8K, and boasts even greater brightness than before, as well as upgraded color, courtesy of Super Quantum Dots. The Super QDs, or “SQD-MiniLEDs” as TCL calls them,  are a refined version of the existing dots, and they are the same ones that make up the backlight of the company’s flagship X11L. They also enable the TVs to hit more colors than ever before — the company says they’re capable of reproducing 100% of the hard-to-obtain BT.2020 color space. See also: Best TVs of 2026 TCL says the QM8L TV features up to 4,000 discrete local dimming zones, as well as the company’s Halo Control system, which should lead to even better contrast. In addition, there is an increase to 6,000-nit peak brightness — up by 2,000 — which would make it one of the brightest TVs ever produced. At …

Thanks to Britain’s mild winters, chiffchaffs are staying put | UK news

Thanks to Britain’s mild winters, chiffchaffs are staying put | UK news

For many birders, the first proper sign of spring comes when they hear the cheery two-note song of the chiffchaff, a small, migratory warbler which, like the kittiwake and the cuckoo, is named after the sound it makes. Chiffchaffs spend the winter far closer to home than most other members of their family: the majority heading to Spain, Portugal or north-west Africa. This is in sharp contrast to their close relative the willow warbler, which heads all the way across the Saharato southern Africa, and usually arrives back here from early April, two or three weeks later than the chiffchaff. But thanks to a long run of very mild winters in southern Britain – a clear consequence of the global climate crisis – some chiffchaffs are now staying put. They now spend the winter close to their breeding areas, often near water where small insects are more numerous. This, along with the unseasonably warm spell in mid-March, explains why this spring, chiffchaffs began to appear a few days earlier than usual. The British Trust for …

NASA Wants to Put Nuclear Reactors on the Moon

NASA Wants to Put Nuclear Reactors on the Moon

Having demonstrated that it has the operational capability to transport humans safely to the moon and back, the United States is moving on to its next major aim: It wants nuclear reactors in orbit and on the lunar surface by 2030. For such a feat, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration will have to work in conjunction with the Department of Defense and the Department of Energy. In a post on X, the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy (OSTP) unveiled a document with new guidelines for federal agencies to establish the space nuclear technology road map for the coming years. This, they say, will ensure “US space superiority.” At present, space instruments use solar power to operate. However, this is considered impractical for more complex purposes. Although technically there is always sunlight, the power is intermittent and almost always requires bulky batteries to store it. Reactors produce fairly continuous energy for years through nuclear fission. They can also be used for so-called nuclear electric propulsion. Continuous output makes them the most viable …

Politics Home | Asylum Reforms Could Put More Pressure On Mental Health Services, Home Office Warned

(Alamy) 4 min read3 hr A group of charities and medical organisations has warned the Home Secretary that stricter rules for people claiming asylum in the UK could put “further pressure on over-stretched NHS mental health services”. In a letter sent to Shabana Mahmood this week, Freedom from Torture, Médecins Sans Frontières UK, Doctors of the World UK, The Helen Bamber Foundation and the British Medical Association (BMA) warned that reducing the period of leave granted to recognised refugees in the UK would have an “unintended but undoubtedly harmful impact”. It comes as the NHS continues to report record numbers of people contacting the service for mental health support.  The Home Office announced last year that refugee status would be temporary and subject to review every 30 months for all adults claiming asylum. It was part of the Labour government’s broader efforts to deter illegal immigration, inspired by what Mahmood has described as the success of Denmark’s approach to reducing arrivals. The government has also extended the automatic qualifying period for awarding Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) from five …

Regé-Jean Page speaks out on the importance of diversity in romcoms: “You’ve got to put that aspirational imagery out there”

Regé-Jean Page speaks out on the importance of diversity in romcoms: “You’ve got to put that aspirational imagery out there”

Even in 2026, it’s still shockingly rare to find a theatrically released romcom with two Black leads – especially when we consider only those backed by major Hollywood studios. But new film You, Me and Tuscany very much fits the bill. The movie stars The Little Mermaid’s Halle Bailey as ambitious young cook Anna, who impulsively heads to Tuscany after spending the night with an Italian man who off-handedly told her she was welcome to stay in his villa if ever she was in Italy. When she arrives, she ends up squatting in his abandoned home, and after his somewhat eccentric family find her there she decides her only course of action to is to pose as his fiancé. Naturally, this leads to all sorts of mix-ups – not to mention sparks flying between Anna and the Italian’s adopted brother Michael (Regé-Jean Page). The film is very much of a piece with from the old-school brand of escapist, sun-soaked romcoms – complete with no shortage of cheese – and speaking with Radio Times ahead of …

Why you shouldn’t buy cheap DisplayPort cables – the ‘Death Pin’ can put your GPU at serious risk

Ugreen/ZDNET Follow ZDNET: Add us as a preferred source on Google. ZDNET’s key takeaways DisplayPort cables are designed to transfer power to monitors. With cheaper options, misaligned pins may cause power failures. You can avoid this by opting for a VESA-certified DisplayPort cable. The DisplayPort “Death Pin” issue, or more formally known as the Pin 20 Problem, is a well-known manufacturing defect in which the last contact pin on a DisplayPort cable is wired incorrectly.  This creates a direct electrical connection between your monitor and graphics card, allowing power to flow freely between them and causing severe damage. And in a time where GPU prices regularly top $1,500, it’s best to take every precaution to protect your Nvidia or AMD card from becoming a very expensive paperweight. Also: 3 tiny gadgets I trust to block electrical surges, data-stealing software, and more Fortunately, the best solution is as easy as selecting the right DisplayPort cable. But there are a few things we need to understand first in order to see how the Death Pin can wreak havoc on …

Through The Playerbase, fans of PlayStation games can apply to have their faces scanned and their likenesses used in PS5 games. The first game to do this will be Gran Turismo 7, in which one lucky fan who makes it through the application process will appear as a time-limited character within the game.
