Basic Instinct Reboot Could Be Directed By Emerald Fennell, Writer Suggests

Emerald Fennell UPDATE: Emerald Fennell denies Basic Instinct reboot rumours. It looks like we know what Emerald Fennell is cooking up as her next project to follow Wuthering Heights. The British filmmaker is currently in talks to helm a reboot of Basic Instinct, screenwriter Joe Eszterhas teased during a new interview with The Guardian. Joe – who penned the script of the original Basic Instinct, as well as the likes of Flashdance and Showgirls – explained he’s almost done with writing a new spin on the original 1992 erotic romance. He claimed: “The producers are negotiating with a really interesting director – a Brit, Emerald Fennell – who did Promising Young Woman and Wuthering Heights.” “Her sensibility is exactly right,” Joe continued. “She’s someone who is not afraid of controversy and sexuality. So I’m thrilled by that. I hope it works out.” After working both behind and in front of the camera on screen, Emerald made her feature-length directing debut in 2020 with Promising Young Woman, which was nominated for five Oscars and won one …

Reboot your mind for flow, unanxiousness, and resilience

Reboot your mind for flow, unanxiousness, and resilience

STEVEN KOTLER: One of the really incredible things about being human is we’re all built for peak performance. Flow is often described as a state of kind of effortless effort. We feel like we’re propelled through the activity. Everything else just seems to disappear. You hear the word “anxiety,” you think, “Oh God, this thing I wanna kick out the door. I want to get rid of it.” I wanted to flip the script. Anxiety is a normal human emotion. We all have it. We can use neuroscience and tools from psychology to learn how to take advantage of anxiety. Because we tell ourselves so many stories about who we are, and who we’re supposed to be. Once we realize that everything is always changing, it helps us let a lot of that go. My name is Stephen Kotler. I’m a writer and a researcher. And my latest book is “The Art of Impossible Flow Itself.” Flow is often described as a state of kind of effortless effort. We feel like we’re propelled through the activity. Everything …

Adrian Mole casting revealed for upcoming reboot – and they’ll be familiar to Alan Carr fans

Oliver Savell is set to take on the lead role of Adrian in the BBC’s upcoming reboot of The Secret Diary of Adrian Mole Aged 13¾. The 10-part series, which is based on Sue Townsend’s best-selling book of the same name, was confirmed in November last year. The BBC also revealed at the time that a nationwide search was under way to find a young actor to take on the lead role – a part famously played by Gian Sammarco in a 1985 adaptation of the novel by Thames TV. Now, The Sun has reported that Savell, who starred as the young Alan Carr in ITV’s autobiographical series Changing Ends, is set to take on the role. An insider told the publication: “Thanks to playing a slightly awkward bespectacled Alan during his schoolboy years on Changing Ends, producers could see he’d fit right into the Mole role.” The BBC declined to provide comment on the story but Radio Times understands this to be true. ‘The X-Files’ Casts Himesh Patel to Star in Ryan Coogler’s Reboot

‘The X-Files’ Casts Himesh Patel to Star in Ryan Coogler’s Reboot

Hulu‘s The X-Files reboot has found its second co-lead. Himesh Patel (The Franchise, Yesterday) has been cast in writer-director Ryan Coogler‘s revival of the classic Fox series. Patel will join the previously announced Danielle Deadwyler as one of two FBI agents tasked with investigating paranormal activity. The Sinners filmmaker will both write and direct the pilot, which has been officially greenlit. Both Patel and Deadwyler are playing new characters — so this is not Fox Mulder and Dana Scully being recast. Original series star Gillian Anderson hinted she might appear in the project, saying she’s read Coogler’s script, telling a reporter, “Have an open mind and give it a chance because it’s going to be fucking cool.” The new show’s official description: “Two highly decorated but vastly different FBI agents form an unlikely bond when they are assigned to a long-shuttered division devoted to cases involving unexplained phenomena.” This logline is slightly different from the premise of Fox’s original, which debuted in 1993 and ran for nine seasons and spawned two movies. The original series …
