In October 2025, creators Damon Beesley and Iain Morris confirmed the Channel 4 sitcom, following the adolescent travails of four foul-mouthed teens, would be returning. However, Buckley, who played the particularly crass Jay Cartwright, is yet to be approached for the project – but he thinks the show should not be watered down for modern audiences, as many fans are concerned it will be. “I think the temperature at the moment is that people would like an Inbetweeners,” he said. “It would release some sort of pressure. Just make sure we keep all that silly, disgusting humour. That’s what I assume people would want.” The actor is currently one of the most popular celebrities on personalised video app …

Reboot your brain: 3 steps to fix your attention span to get your focus back

Reboot your brain: 3 steps to fix your attention span to get your focus back

It’s no wonder our attention spans are shrinking. When we’re engaged with the world in front of us, pings and dings interrupt. And in the lulls, we use screens to outrun moments of boredom, anxiety and loneliness. These digital distractions have made it hard to sustain focus – while working, reading a book or spending time with friends and family. Some people find that they struggle to keep their minds trained on a single task even with phone and email notifications turned off. But attention is a learned habit, said Daniel Smilek, a professor of cognitive neuroscience at the University of Waterloo in Ontario. And just as short-form content and endless scrolling can condition your brain to chase novelty, you can also build routines to reclaim your focus. STEP 1: DO AN ATTENTION AUDIT In general, people underestimate how much they use their phones and how often their minds wander, Dr Smilek said. But spotting these little detours can blunt their impact and make them easier to defend against, he added. Next time you start …

BBC’s groundbreaking ‘best sci-fi show ever’ secures reboot featuring Doctor Who star

Blake’s 7 could be returning to screens very soon, 45 years after the series came to a conclusion in 1981. Deadline reports that director Peter Hoar, known for his work on Doctor Who and The Last of Us, has launched a production company and is aiming to reboot the sci-fi masterpiece. Multitude Productions has also been launched with Matthew Bouch (A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder) and West End producer Jason Haigh-Ellery, and they confirmed they were hoping that the reboot would continue to air on the BBC. Speaking to Deadline, Peter, 56, said: “The Blake’s 7 story is legendary because they were given the [British police show] Softly, Softly slot that was intended for police drama with a budget intended for one big set and a few location shoots. “At the time it felt like it meant something. Those shows got into my veins. I could tell they didn’t have money, but I was able to compartmentalise and enjoy the ride knowing that the sets wobbled.“ The production company is also aiming to produce …

Take on the new year with a motivational reboot … or hibernate. We can help with both | New year

Take on the new year with a motivational reboot … or hibernate. We can help with both | New year

As you open a new calendar and the pressure mounts to become a shinier, fitter, more optimised version of yourself, it’s worth acknowledging a small but liberating truth: January is a really awkward month to reinvent your life. The Guardian’s journalism is independent. We will earn a commission if you buy something through an affiliate link. Learn more. It’s cold, it’s dark, everyone’s broke and our collective serotonin is running low. Which is why, this year, we’re proposing two equally valid paths – and suggesting we stop pretending we have to choose just one. In one camp are the “new year, new routine” fanatics, the people you’ll find smashing a 6am workout, clutching a protein shake (the clear, pea isolate ones that are almost like a protein squash have been brilliant for me) and claiming, with suspicious enthusiasm, that they love the feeling of their lungs burning in winter air. And honestly? Good for them. A reset can feel energising, and the right fitness tech, supplements and morning rituals can make this commitment easier and more …
