Canada’s Prime Minister Doubles Down On Militant Anti-US Rhetoric

Well before Mark Carney was elected as Canada’s Prime Minister in the wake of numerous scandals surrounding Justin Trudeau, critics noted that the candidate represented a far greater threat to Canada’s freedom largely because he is far more devious than Trudeau ever was.  Carney is a central banker and high level World Economic Forum globalist well acquainted with the liberal “Reset” agenda, and it is no mistake that he has taken control of Canada at a time when European elites are pushing for an economic and geopolitical separation from the US.  The plan is obvious – To isolate the US in an effort to stop the spread of conservative and nationalist movements throughout the west. In other words, the globalists/leftists are trying to build a new empire in a last-ditched scramble to prevent their liberal order from fading away.  Carney pretends as if they are breaking from the old system and starting something new by “calling out” the US.  In reality, it was the US that broke from the liberal system and refused to “go …

How Islamophobic rhetoric leaves an impact on the mental health of Muslim Americans

How Islamophobic rhetoric leaves an impact on the mental health of Muslim Americans

(The Conversation) — The war with Iran has led to a surge in anti-Muslim rhetoric – spilling into political discourse. U.S. Rep. Randy Fine of Florida posted on X that “the choice between dogs and Muslims is not a difficult one,” and added in another post, “We need more Islamophobia, not less.” Similarly, U.S. Rep. Brandon Gill of Texas called for stopping the entry of “Muslims immigrating to America.” A study by the Center for the Study of Organized Hate found that the average number of Islamophobic posts jumped from 2,000 to 6,000 each day on X alone in the first six days of the conflict. I have studied the impact of Islamophobia on mental health over the past two decades, following soaring hate crimes in the wake of 9/11. Research consistently shows that negative portrayals of Muslims shape public attitudes toward Muslims and can lead to increased discrimination, hate crimes and psychological consequences. Increase in Islamophobia Islamophobia in the United States tends to surge during global conflicts, political campaigns and terrorist attacks. Human Rights …

What is CREC and how does it shape Pete Hegseth’s religious rhetoric?

What is CREC and how does it shape Pete Hegseth’s religious rhetoric?

(The Conversation) — Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth’s conservative evangelical religious beliefs drew attention even before his confirmation hearings in January 2025. He is a member of the Communion of Reformed Evangelical Churches – CREC – whose beliefs have been influenced by a 20th-century movement called Christian Reconstructionism. Many CREC leaders call for the implementation of biblical law and a theocratic state structured on Christian patriarchy. Theocratic states are ruled according to religious laws, which in the case of the CREC means a conservative evangelical understanding of Christianity. The CREC website claims to have over 160 churches and parishes spread across North America, Europe, Asia and South America. Hegseth’s use of religious language and prayers has raised questions about his religious beliefs in relation to his role as secretary of defense. At a prayer service on March 25, 2026, during the current war in Iran, Hegseth said, “Let every round find its mark against the enemies of righteousness and our great nation.” He went on to add: “Give them wisdom in every decision, endurance for the …

‘New phenomenon of dangerous rhetoric’: World leaders embrace proud disregard for international law – Spotlight

‘New phenomenon of dangerous rhetoric’: World leaders embrace proud disregard for international law – Spotlight

Gavin Lee is pleased to welcome Philippe Bolopion. Executive Director of Human Rights Watch. He describes a seismic shift in the conduct of war, marked not merely by violations of international humanitarian law, but by an unprecedented openness in asserting, even embracing, such violations. What distinguishes this moment is not the erosion of norms alone, but the normalisation of dismissing international law and lacking empathy for civilians’ suffering. Across the globe, there is an emerging pattern of discourse that shows little regard for the laws of war and the protection of innocent life. This signals a deeper structural weakening of the rules-based international order, devised over decades, to mitigate harm to civilians. In this context, the role of legal frameworks becomes increasingly contested, as major powers challenge the rule of law, while smaller states hesitate to assert any collective pressure. The result is a widening gap between norms and operational realities. And so we all now lay witness to a global trend toward authoritarianism and the fragmentation of shared legal standards. Will international law remain …

Trump’s war rhetoric is coarse. It’s also heard differently, depending on the audience

Trump’s war rhetoric is coarse. It’s also heard differently, depending on the audience

In one of his latest missives on social media, President Trump complained that he wasn’t getting enough credit for “totally destroying the terrorist regime of Iran, militarily, economically, and otherwise.” “We have unparalleled firepower, unlimited ammunition, and plenty of time,” he wrote of a war that has crippled the global supply of oil, sharply increased gas prices, cost U.S. taxpayers billions, left thousands dead and wounded, and so far defied Trump’s own “short term” timetable. “Watch what happens to these deranged scumbags today,” Trump added. “They’ve been killing innocent people all over the world for 47 years, and now I, as the 47th President of the United States of America, am killing them. What a great honor it is to do so!” Again and again in recent days, Trump and other top officials in his administration — notably Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth — have projected confidence and power in Iran in a coarse and triumphant tone that is unprecedented for U.S. wartime presidents and their Cabinet members, according to experts in presidential rhetoric and …

Republican rhetoric on mass shootings does not change public opinion on gun reform

Republican rhetoric on mass shootings does not change public opinion on gun reform

New research published in the Journal of Health Politics, Policy and Law suggests that changing how politicians talk about mass shootings has little impact on the public’s views regarding gun control. While political statements often sway voter opinions on other issues, Americans appear to have deeply entrenched views on firearm policies that are not easily moved by alternative political rhetoric. In recent years, the United States has experienced more than 600 mass shootings annually. The immense scale of this public health crisis has pressured some lawmakers to reconsider how they respond to these tragedies in the public sphere. Republican lawmakers regularly offer “thoughts and prayers” to victims of gun violence. This specific phrasing became highly unpopular over time as the frequency of mass shootings increased. Following events like the tragic school shooting in Uvalde, Texas, in the summer of 2022, some politicians began adjusting their public messages to avoid severe public backlash. “This project was first conceived when I was a Klarman postdoctoral fellow at Cornell University. My co-authors and I were discussing a recent …

Iran’s Khamenei maintains tough rhetoric with US despite nuclear talks | Conflict News

Tehran, Iran – Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, has shot back at United States President Donald Trump and cast a pessimistic tone on negotiations with his administration even as Iran’s foreign minister says an understanding on “the guiding principles” of a deal has been reached. The 86-year-old Khamenei said on Tuesday that Trump admitted that the US has tried to bring down the theocratic establishment in Iran since the country’s 1979 Islamic revolution but has failed. Recommended Stories list of 3 itemsend of list “This is a good confession. You will not be able to do this either,” Khamenei said in an apparent reference to the US president telling reporters this week that a change in government would be “the best thing that could happen” in Iran. Khamenei also used religious symbolism to draw parallels with figures who fought against Shia Muslim imams more than 1,350 years ago to cast doubt on any meaningful rapprochement with the US today. He said the Iranian nation “will not pledge allegiance to corrupt leaders like those who …
