12 private royal living rooms: Princess Anne’s modest home, Princess Kate’s ‘museum’ & more

It may be hard to think of members of the royal family doing ordinary things like reading to their children on the sofa or relaxing in front of the television, but behind closed doors, they do exactly that, spending time in their private living rooms.  While some royal residences have the most amazing sitting rooms with ample space, high ceilings and decadent décor, others are much humbler, like Princess Anne’s relatable lounge, which went viral when a picture was shared during the pandemic of her and her husband Sir Timothy Laurence watching a rugby match in their modest room.  Then, we’ve got the impressive living spaces of European royalty with a distinctly formal feel, including bold colours and gilded touches. In stark contrast to the pared-back and modern look at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Montecito mansion, which they share with their two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.   Keep scrolling to see all of these and more… Harry and Meghan’s lounge is stylish and modern Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s living room at Montecito mansion The …

Prince Philip’s ‘nomadic’ childhood that turned him into a royal ‘sofa-surfer’

Throughout his 7 years spent married to the late Queen Elizabeth, Prince Philip lived in a number of luxurious properties, from Buckingham Palace to Windsor Castle. The late Duke of Edinburgh, who passed away in 2021, was certainly used to moving around, having spent his childhood between France, Germany, and the UK. In one report by the BBC, Philip’s childhood was described as “nomadic” with the outlet reporting that, having been born a prince of Greece but then exiled, Philip found himself bouncing around Europe, “the royal equivalent of sofa-surfing”. © Getty ImagesPrince Philip moved around a lot during his childhood Prince Philip’s unsettled childhood The late royal was born in Corfu to Prince Andrew of Greece and Denmark and Princess Alice of Battenberg. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s former home that’s like a ‘ghost town’ after move

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s former home that’s like a ‘ghost town’ after move

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has officially moved into Marsh Farm, his permanent home on the Sandringham estate, leaving Royal Lodge in his wake. According to a new report, the 31-room property on the Windsor Home Park estate is now lying empty, having been the former Duke of York’s home since 2004. As per The Sun, the grounds of Andrew’s former home have been left looking like a “ghost town”, having once been a “hive of activity” during the former prince’s tenure. The future of Royal Lodge remains uncertain. Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ‘serene’ home was ‘another world’ behind closed doors

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s ‘serene’ home was ‘another world’ behind closed doors

In the initial days after Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s house move, he could be enjoying the privacy of his upgraded security as he unpacks his final possessions and settles into his new surroundings at Marsh Farm. While solitude away from the public eye remains of the utmost importance for the disgraced royal, it’s unlikely that details of the interiors will be revealed in the same way as his former home Royal Lodge, which he previously shared with his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson. But one thing remains likely – he’ll be seeking to create the same “serene” environment he previously enjoyed at his 30-room mansion. The Queen Mother had lived at the grace and favour property from 1952 until her death in 2002 at the age of 101. Two years later, Andrew was granted a lease agreement by the Crown Estate. In Prince Harry’s memoir Spare, which was released in 2023, he opened up about what the home was really like, describing it as “another world.” He penned: “It was Pa who told me [the Queen Mother] had been …

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor’s 7 loyal companions keeping him company at exile home

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor has been ostracised following his links to convicted paedophile Jeffrey Epstein, and his arrest for suspicion of misconduct in public office on 19 February.  After being evicted from his former Windsor mansion, Royal Lodge, King Charles’ brother has been coming to terms with life in exile on the Sandringham estate. He has temporarily hunkered down at Wood Farm while his permanent residence, Marsh Farm, receives the finishing touches, including increased security of new gates and CCTV.  However, he is not entirely alone during his relocation. The former prince, who was stripped of his royal titles and honours in November 2025, shares his home with seven dogs, including his mother Queen Elizabeth II’s beloved corgis, Muick and Sandy. Andrew and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, took on the dogs following Queen Elizabeth’s death in 2022, but the late monarch’s son took custody of the furry friends when they vacated Royal Lodge.  WATCH: Why Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor may actually move into Marsh Farm ahead of scheduled Easter date Back in October 2025, the Palace shared a vague statement with The …
