Streaming Ratings March 9-15, 2026

Netflix’s One Piece returned from more than two years away to its best weekly streaming total, and Scarpetta had a solid opening week for Prime Video. Both shows, however, took a back seat to the streaming debut of Zootopia 2. The animated sequel drew 1.72 billion minutes of viewing time for Disney+ in the week of March 9-15 (the movie debuted March 11 on the platform). Zootopia 2 also gave a boost to its predecessor; Zootopia’s 381 million viewing minutes were more than double its total for the previous week. On Nielsen’s streaming series charts, One Piece scored 1.62 billion minutes of viewing with the premiere of its second season. That’s a series high; its previous best was 1.39 billion minutes in September 2023, a week after its first season debuted. Virgin River (1.39 billion minutes) also returned to the rankings with the premiere of its seventh season. Scarpetta, based on Patricia Cornwell’s best-selling crime novels, premiered with 952 million minutes of watch time on Prime Video. That was good for sixth place among all …

Rosy McEwen on Playing a Young Nicole Kidman

Rosy McEwen on Playing a Young Nicole Kidman

Rosy McEwen doesn’t see the resemblance between her and Nicole Kidman, but it’s the springboard off which she leapt into co-leading a major Amazon Prime Video adaptation with the Oscar-winning Aussie. “I think that’s probably why I was brought on so early,” the British actress ponders to The Hollywood Reporter about Scarpetta, which released its full season on Wednesday. “My agent, Chris Andrews, when this came up, was like, ‘Well, you have to meet Rosy because she looks [just like Kidman]. They have a look.’ And it makes sense, we’re both quite tall, we’re both left-handed,” she adds. “People have stopped me on the street before to say, ‘Do you know you look just like Nicole Kidman?’” But it’s not just the genetic lottery that’s nabbed McEwen — star of Blue Jean, Rabbit Trap, and more recently, Black Mirror — this meaty crime drama role. She happens to be a real talent in her native U.K., and playing the younger version of Kidman’s leading forensic pathologist Kay Scarpetta (based on Patricia Cornwell’s beloved novels) felt right …

Scarpetta review – Nicole Kidman’s detective drama unravels into something completely mind-boggling

Get the latest entertainment news, reviews and star-studded interviews with our Independent Culture email Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter Get the latest entertainment news with our free Culture newsletter What on earth is going on? This is the question that kept coming to mind while watching Scarpetta, Nicole Kidman’s new series in which she plays a brilliant but haunted forensic pathologist investigating a grisly murder. The confusion isn’t for any storytelling reasons, though the show’s entangled family tree surely could be better spelt out earlier on, but due to the fact that the subplots are so disparate and strange that at any given time I was inclined to hit pause and double check that my TV hadn’t switched to a rerun of Bones or Black Mirror. Scarpetta’s opening minutes are bleak. A woman’s body lies naked, bound and bloodied next to railroad tracks in the middle of the night. Both her hands have been cut off. It’s the sort of grim image you might expect from a heavy-hitting detective drama …

Simon Baker reveals mom’s surprising reaction to his joining new show Scarpetta: ‘Nearly jumped out of her skin’

Simon Baker revealed that one of the biggest fans of his new TV show, Scarpetta, is his mother, who was so excited when she heard of his casting that she “nearly jumped out of her skin”. The Australian actor shared on the Today show that his mom, Elizabeth Labberton, adores the Scarpetta book series created by Patricia Cornwell, which spans 29 books and follows the life of forensic pathologist Dr Kay Scarpetta. “My mom’s a huge fan of the books. She’d read all of them. And so when I mentioned it, she kind of…she nearly jumped out of her skin, her voice went very high,” Simon recalled. © Today/NBCSimon detailed his mother’s reaction to his new role “I think since I’ve shot the thing, she’s read all of them again, which is kind of unbelievable,” he continued. “And she sort of quizzes me constantly about like, ‘Well, how are they dealing…’ and I’m like, ‘Mom, please.’” The 56-year-old added that she was always supportive of his work and even gave notes on his projects in …

Nicole Kidman Scrubs in as Amazon’s Kay Scarpetta

Paging Dr. Kay Scarpetta — we’re gonna need you to scrub back in for this one. Nicole Kidman is up to the task in the trailer (below) for Amazon’s Scarpetta series, which debuts on Prime Video March 11. The adaptation of Patricia Cornwell’s best-selling novels unfolds across two timelines. The first tracks a young Kay Scarpetta (Rosy McEwen) from her beginnings as a chief medical examiner in the late ’90s; the second flashes forward to Kay’s present-day (Kidman) return to her hometown, where she resumes her former position while investigating a grisly murder. Kay’s sister Dorothy, played by Amanda Righetti (young) and Jamie Lee Curtis, wishes she wouldn’t. The forensic crime thriller was adapted for streaming by Liz Sarnoff (Barry, Lost).  “With skilled hands and an unnerving eye, unrelenting medical examiner Kay Scarpetta is determined to serve as the voice of the victims, unmask a serial killer and prove that her career-making case from 28 years prior isn’t also her undoing,” the logline reads. “Set against the backdrop of modern forensic investigation, the series delves beyond …
