Throughout the visible Universe, trillions of galaxies abound. This deep-field view of the Universe showcases a portion of the COSMOS-Web field acquired with JWST. In this field are a wide variety of galaxies, where the largest, most massive ones are nearly all spirals or ellipticals, with some lenticular galaxies possessing properties common to both. However, about 5-10% of these galaxies, where their shapes can be resolved, are irregular, peculiar galaxies: evidence of galactic interactions and mergers. Credit: ESA/Webb, NASA & CSA, G. This image, acquired with the Hubble Space Telescope in 2018, shows the giant elliptical galaxy NGC 4860 alongside its passing neighbor, the rapidly-moving spiral NGC 4858. Both of these galaxies are located in the Coma Cluster, but NGC 4858 is special: it’s fast-moving, at 5600 km/s through the intracluster medium, and speeding through it in an edge-on fashion. WWDC 2026 is set to begin on Monday, June 8, and the event will highlight Apple’s “AI advancements.” Apple included the tidbit in its WWDC 2026 announcement. WWDC26 will spotlight incredible updates for Apple platforms, including AI advancements and exciting new software and developer tools. Since iOS 18, we’ve been waiting for Apple to introduce a more intelligent version of Siri, and that might finally happen with iOS 27. We are expecting the Apple Intelligence version of ‌Siri‌ that includes personal context with support for new, deeper search capabilities, onscreen awareness so ‌Siri‌ can answer questions about what you’re looking at, and the ability to do more in and between apps. Apple is also working on a chatbot version of ‌Siri‌ that will rival ChatGPT, Gemini, and Claude, and we could potentially get a chatbot ‌Siri‌ preview at WWDC. For those ready to explore and experience creativity at its intersection with technology, the 23rd edition of CPH:DOX, the Copenhagen International Documentary Film Festival, is offering a space full of curiosity: its Inter:Active Exhibition at the Danish capital’s Kunsthal Charlottenborg. No amount of extreme wind gusts could shake the tremendous talent performing Sunday night at the De Los showcase at the South by Southwest music festival. Five acts took over the rooftop of Mala Fama in downtown Austin and braved the 30 mph winds. Nezza, Eddy, Tropa Magica, Vanita Leo and Hermanos Espinoza each brought their own distinct essence to the Texas stage, reminding audiences that Latin music is dynamic and never static. For the third year in a row, De Los, the Latino-centric vertical of the Los Angeles Times, will be returning to South by Southwest in Austin, Texas, and things are a little different this time around. While the music portion of the festival has typically been given its own weekend to shine, in 2026, it’ll be “folded into” a week-long event alongside film, TV and interactive programming. But despite these changes, one thing is clear: After a banner year for Latin music at SXSW in 2025, it seems like everyone’s doubled down in 2026, with the festival welcoming a historic number of Latin artists to Austin.
