In today’s highly competitive carrier market, T-Mobile has taken an entirely new approach to customer attraction and retention. Through a growing physical presence at the country’s biggest entertainment and sporting venues, the company is expanding coverage and access beyond just mobile service — into the real world. At live events like Lollapalooza, the Las Vegas Grand Prix and, most recently, Stagecoach, T-Mobile‘s customer-only lounges, coined Club Magenta, offer members a VIP-level experience sans VIP ticket pricing. Introduced in February 2024, Club Magenta is one of several perks that come with “Magenta Status,” T-Mobile’s free loyalty program launched at the same time. Stagecoach festival left fans in a state of anger and confusion on Saturday night after it was evacuated due to high winds – but ended up going ahead. Winds grew stronger throughout Big Little Town’s performance, forcing food vendors to close early before the festival itself was paused and performers were ushered offstage. A message quickly appeared on screen directing fans to move as quickly as possible to the nearest exit. It read: “The festival has been postponed until further notice.” Stagecoach recommences Approximately 90 minutes after thousands of fans walked toward the parking lot and shuttles, the festival sent out a notification saying the show would, in fact, resume and that headliner Lainey Wilson’s set was being pushed back an hour to 10:30 pm.  Scheduled sets by Gavin Adcock and Pitbull were also delayed, while Journey and Riley Green had their performances canceled altogether, according to an update posted on the Stagecoach app. Fans were enraged by the U-turn. Shields Date Garden, a 17-acre farm founded in 1924, is a monument to the versatility of the date palm, a case study in midcentury marketing savvy, a repository of Christian statuary and a fine site for roadside signage. This combination keeps the place remarkably busy, including its old-fashioned shake counter ($9.15 for 21 ounces of cool desert sweetness); its retail shop; its sprawling outdoor café; and the 105-seat theater which screens a slide show daily on “The Romance and Sex Life of the Date.” The slide show (which explains the subtle points of date palm cultivation) goes back to the early 1950s, when co-founder Floyd Shields was looking for a new way to lure more visitors.
