Millions of files related to the case of Epstein were unveiled on Friday (31 January), linking the convicted paedophile to world figures, including Prince Andrew, Bill Gates and Donald Trump. Daily Show host Stewart was also mentioned in passing, but not because Epstein had ties to him: the TV host is brought up in a 2015 email exchange between Epstein and producer Barry Josephsen, in which they devise the idea of releasing a stand-up comedy special about a figure from the world of comedy named only as “Woody”. “I am in the files. This is actually true,” Stewart said, before revealing the contents of the email: “Make a true biographical experience with his stand-up being the capper. Somebody like Jon Stewart could host/narrate the biographical part.” …

Jon Stewart has addressed the new Epstein files released last Friday, which revealed more information on the investigation into convicted child sex offender Jeffrey Epstein. This included the names of several high-profile people who were allegedly involved with Epstein to some degree, such as tech billionaires Elon Musk and Bill Gates, as well as further mentions of President Donald Trump. Even so, Stewart doesn’t seem optimistic that the newly released files will actually instigate any sort of change. “The chances of this breaking MAGA are actually worse than Trump just lowering the age of consent to be done with the whole fucking thing,” quipped the Daily Show host. “Which is not to say there isn’t awful shit in this new Epstein dump. It was a veritable who’s who of who you imagine wanted someone to touch their hoo-hoo. For those of us who were adults during the second Iraq War, one of the legendary victories for basic sense and decency in politics was the day Jon Stewart nuked Tucker Carlson on “Crossfire” in 2004. Stewart was riding high as the popular host of “The Daily Show” on Comedy Central, and he reluctantly agreed to appear on the popular debate show that had aired on CNN since 1982. “Crossfire” was artificial, he felt, closer to a scripted wrestling match between partisans than a real political discussion. Stewart did not refrain from expressing this opinion in the saltiest terms on-air, especially to Carlson, the show’s co-host who was cast as the overgrown college Republican with odious views and a polka dot bowtie. Rod Stewart and his wife of 18 years, Penny Lancaster, looked so loved-up they attended the premiere of Finding Harmony: A King’s Vision at Windsor Castle on Wednesday night.  The pair were there to support King Charles, the subject of the documentary, who arrived at the event with his wife, Queen Camilla. Sir Rod Stewart, 81, has quite the place to call home with his wife, Penny Lancaster, 54. The couple, who have been married since 2007, purchased their 18th-century Grade II listed manor in 2013, and since then, the rocker has shared only rare glimpses inside the property.  But in a new video message, the Maggie May singer has unveiled another corner of the house, which seemingly has a subtle tribute to his loved ones. On 25 January, the rocker took to Instagram to film his response to US President Donald Trump’s remark about Nato troops avoiding the frontlines in Afghanistan.  While voicing his opinion on the matter, the rocker stood in front of an ornate background from inside his home. The wallpapered corner featured vintage candelabras that were mounted on either side of a golden-framed piece of artwork above a fireplace.  When the singer moved out of the frame, the background put two framed photographs on the mantel behind him into focus. Penny Lancaster and Rod Stewart have been married since 2007, and as the rock and roll legend marked his 81st birthday on Saturday, Penny was among the first to share a tribute. Taking to her Instagram Stories, the mother-of-two shared a photo of the couple during a visit to Santa Margherita Ligure, Italy. The pair were seen posing together on the municipality’s iconic red bench that sits with a stunning sea view. The quirky bench carries two large red love hearts, one of which reads: “Santa in Love,” and the duo could be seen cuddling up underneath the heart, as Penny added a sticker reading: “Happy birthday,” to the image.
