No. 2 All Time With 125 Million Viewers

No. 2 All Time With 125 Million Viewers

The 60th Super Bowl drew, as usual, a gigantic audience — but it had to settle for coming in just behind last year’s record-setting telecast. NBC and Peacock’s telecast of Super Bowl LX — a lopsided, 29-13 victory for the Seattle Seahawks over the New England Patriots — averaged 124.93 million viewers, based on Nielsen’s final same-day ratings (the numbers also include Telemundo’s Spanish language broadcast and streaming on other NBCUniversal and NFL digital outlets). That’s off a scant 2 percent from Super Bowl LIX in 2025, which set an all-time U.S. audience record of 127.71 million viewers across Fox, Tubi, Telemundo and NFL digital properties. NBC did set an all-time record for peak viewership, with 137.8 million viewers from 7:45-8 p.m. ET, during the game’s second quarter. The halftime show starring Bad Bunny scored higher than the game as a whole with 128.2 million viewers, also down a bit (4 percent) from the 133.5 million viewers for Kendrick Lamar’s halftime performance a year ago. The halftime show racked up huge numbers on social media, recording a …

Cultural Take on Bad Bunny Performance

Cultural Take on Bad Bunny Performance

Facing hatred, Bad Bunny led the Super Bowl with love.  When the superstar said everyone would dance during the Super Bowl halftime show, Latinos around the world immediately knew what that meant: that we’d be watching a collective celebration of Caribbean Latino culture on full display.  Everyone who listened to his Grammy Award-winning Debí Tirar Más Fotos can understand how deeply ingrained his pride for his homeland is. Through symbols such as the Pava hat, the plataneras (plantain trees) and the plastic chairs visible on the album cover, he sends a clear message: This is what Puerto Rico is about.  Through these references, which are also embedded in his lyrics, he describes his culture and upbringing. With that intention, he developed his historic residency in Puerto Rico, and during the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show, we saw that story condensed into 13 minutes with a 14-song setlist. The references, the messaging and the call for unity were braided into the show, in which he performed most of the songs from Debí Tirar Más …

Fellow Grammy-winning artist Kacey Musgraves took to X, where she wrote, “Well. Super Bowl 2026 Ads: The 6 “Best” Celebrity Spots In a Rough Year

You know it’s a bad year for advertising when your sister texts “So far, the prostate screening one is the best,” and it’s after halftime. Some of us can trace our very fondest and earliest Super Bowl memories to 1993: not to the Dallas Cowboys and the Buffalo Bills, but to Larry Bird and Michael Jordan and Big Macs, Crystal Pepsi’s Van Halen splash (which kicked off in the lead-up to the game but not the broadcast), and the Bud Bowl. Those were the days. Three decades later, we still have big beer—and big tech, and big pharma. AdWeek has declared this year’s Bud Light Peyton Manning spot “too bro,” asking of Post Malone, who also stars in it, “are you okay?” The drug gods shelled out for recognizable faces: Novartis had former NFL heavies; Ro (a telehealth company that sells GLP-1s) had Serena Wiliams; Boehringer Ingelheim booked Octavia Spencer and Sofia Vergara; and Novo Nordisk hired a murderer’s row of comedians, including Ana Gasteyer and Kenan Thompson. Big tech did less with more: I …
