TSLA stock slides, Supercharger prices, and who’s REALLY behind Elon’s big chip fab

On today’s Tesla-tastic episode of Quick Charge, a TSLA bear thinks the stock is headed for a 60% slide before the year is out, Tesla launches a Supercharger configurator, and we find out what’s really going on at Elon’s proposed chip fab. We also take a look at the NHTSA investigation into 159 incidents involving Tesla’s Actually Smart Summon (ASS) parking feature, and ask whether or not the Supercharger wholesale model will be able to stand up to increasing pressure from other EVSE manufacturers. Stellantis EVs now have Tesla Supercharger access

Stellantis EVs now have Tesla Supercharger access

As of today, Jeep, Dodge and Stellantis EVs can plug in and charge on Tesla’s Supercharger network, the largest DC charging network in North America. Stellantis was the last brand set to gain access, so now just about every EV in America can use Superchargers, with the right adapters. Ever since Tesla announced it would open its charging network in 2022 (calling the connector the North American Charging Standard, or NACS), we’ve been covering the gradual drip-drip of companies announcing NACS support and getting access to Tesla’s Supercharger network, after the connector got its official SAE certification. Last year was the year that we expected a big flood of vehicles to gain access, and several brands did throughout the year. But there was one brand left: Stellantis. Advertisement – scroll for more content Stellantis has been behind other brands in terms of fuel efficiency and EV adoption, and behind on the NACS transition as well. It was the last automaker to announce NACS adoption last November, and the last one left on Tesla’s “coming soon” page. Today it’s been removed from the coming …

A Supercharger hub near Detroit airport will be Michigan’s largest

A Supercharger hub near Detroit airport will be Michigan’s largest

Tesla is building a Supercharger hub near Detroit Metro Airport, and once it’s online, it will be the largest EV charging station in Michigan. The site is in Romulus, on a two-acre site next to a Sheetz gas station on Vining Road, off I-94. The Supercharger hub will feature 48 DC fast-charging stalls open to all EVs, according to site plans. Kansas City-based NorthPoint Development sold the site to Tesla. Construction has kicked off on phase one of the project, which includes 32 charging bays, and is expected to be completed this summer. Crain’s Detroit Business reports that Tesla has not indicated when phase two will come online. The hub will feature solar canopies that generate additional power for the DC fast chargers, and on-site security cameras will be installed. The hub is sited to support airport users and drivers traveling between Detroit and Ann Arbor. This Georgia city may have opened the first city‑branded Tesla Supercharger

This Georgia city may have opened the first city‑branded Tesla Supercharger

Photo: @TeslaCharging/X A city in Georgia may have just launched something the EV charging world hasn’t seen before: a city-branded Tesla Supercharger station. The City of Alpharetta, just north of Atlanta, recently installed a Supercharging site next to its Department of Public Safety on Old Milton Parkway. What makes it notable is the branding on the equipment itself: “The City of Alpharetta, Georgia – public charging station.” That suggests this could be the first time a municipality is deploying its own Tesla‑branded Supercharger installation. Fast charging for the public and a police EV fleet The Alpharetta station features four V3.5 stalls with peak charging power of up to 325 kW. Alpharetta’s Superchargers support the city’s Tesla Model Y police cars and are also open to the public. One of the four stalls is a pull‑in accessible …
