Kalshi wins temporary pause in Arizona criminal case

Kalshi wins temporary pause in Arizona criminal case

Arizona Attorney General Kris Mayes’ case against prediction market Kalshi appears to have hit a snag. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission announced Friday that it has won a temporary restraining order preventing the state from pursuing its criminal case against Kalshi (whose CEO Tarek Mansour is pictured above). “Arizona’s decision to weaponize state criminal law against companies that comply with federal law sets a dangerous precedent, and the court’s order today sends a clear message that intimidation is not an acceptable tactic to circumvent federal law,” said CFTC Chairman Michael S. Selig in a statement. While the CFTC normally has five commissioners, Selig is currently the only one on the commission, following his confirmation in December and the departure of previous acting chairman Caroline Pham (who left to join crypto company MoonPay). Arizona has filed charges against Kalshi accusing the company of operating an illegal gambling business in the state without a license. The announcement of the restraining order comes just a couple days after a federal judge allowed Arizona’s case to move forward, according …

Newsom Tells Europe “Trump Is Temporary,” Doubles Down On Failing Green Agenda

California Gov. Gavin Newsom spoke at the Munich Security Conference earlier on Friday, telling European elites that President Trump is “temporary” and will be gone within three years. Newsom, noticeably angered by Trump’s push for deregulation and the rollback of climate policy, lashed out at the president, calling him “more destructive” than the current occupant of the White House. The issue for Newsom is that he still operates within the climate crisis framework promoted by globalists, even as the West is moving on from two decades of nation-killing green policy regime that hollowed out parts of the industrial base and fueled inflation. On Thursday, President Trump rescinded the 2009 Obama-era “Endangerment Finding,” a determination that greenhouse gases threaten public health and welfare, which he said has been used by the radical left to justify $1.3 trillion in regulatory costs that have hurt American households and sent consumer prices soaring, especially for automobiles. “The single largest deregulatory action in American history. That’s a big statement in American history, and I think we can add the words …

The ‌decision to end humanitarian protections that grant deportation relief and work permits to more than a thousand Yemeni nationals was taken after determining that it was against the U.S. “national interest”, Noem said. The Trump administration has sought to end most enrollment in the program, saying it runs counter to U.S. interests. “After reviewing conditions in the country and consulting with appropriate U.S. government agencies, I determined that Yemen no longer meets the law’s requirements to be designated for Temporary Protected Status,” she said. Around 1,380 Yemeni nationals were covered by the temporary protected status as of March 31, 2025, according to the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services. The status was last extended in 2024 and was set to expire on …

Israeli occupation ‘no longer temporary, it is a permanent occupation’

Nadia Massih is pleased to welcome former hostage negotiator and Middle East Director of the International Communities Organisation Dr. Gershon Baskin. As someone who has spent decades working toward a just resolution between Israelis and Palestinians, including negotiating with Hamas for the release of hostages, he’s watched with growing alarm the shift in Israel’s governance of the occupied territories. From his perspective, what we are witnessing is not the continuation of a temporary occupation, but the deepening of a permanent one. Keywords for this article Source link

Did NASA really discover a temporary, second moon?

Did NASA really discover a temporary, second moon?

“NASA Confirms Earth Has Gained A Temporary 2ND Moon That Will Remain in Orbit Beside Us Until 2083,” reads a claim made by the Facebook account What the Fact, an account that says it is dedicated to “the latest space science & astronomy news”. Its second moon claim was featured in a post that garnered more than 16,000 reactions. The claim was also widely circulated on X, with some posts garnering more than 3 million views.  To illustrate this claim, the posts feature an image generated by artificial intelligence showing the Earth with two moons of roughly the same size, suggesting the existence of a new heavenly body similar to the Moon currently in orbit around our planet. This is a screenshot of the post that What the Fact shared on Facebook on December 30, 2025. © Facebook The confusion seems to hail from the discovery made last July by researchers at the Complutense University in Madrid of a small asteroid baptised “2025 PN7”. This asteroid was first spotted through the Pan-STARRS1 telescope at the …

Judge denies Nevada’s request for temporary restraining order against Polymarket

The Polymarket and Nevada saga remains to be ongoing, as a judge has denied Nevada’s request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) which marks a small win for the prediction market. This refers to the request for an ex parte temporary restraining order, with the docket also suggesting a hearing on the state’s motion for the preliminary injunction has been set. If the docket is correct, the hearing will be held on February 19 and it contains a similar posture to the Massachusetts lawsuit versus Kalshi. If the hearing goes in the state of Nevada’s favor, the prediction market Polymarket would be forced to geofence statewide.
