Tourists sought refuge on top of the minibus in flooded Tenerife (Image: SOLARPIX) The dramatic moment a British holidaymaker screams for help from the roof of a minibus trapped in floodwater in the storm-hit Canary Islands was caught on camera. The UK tourist climbed onto the top of the vehicle, believed to be carrying five tourists all from Britain, and yelled out: “Can someone get us help?” In the emotional video filmed in Puerto de la Cruz, northern Tenerife, another Brit replies: “Just stay there, don’t move”. An Italian onlooker, meanwhile, tries to calm her down by assuring her that the police are on their way. The emotionally-charged scenes unfolded overnight after the vehicle, carrying five tourists all believed to be from the UK, was forced to come to a standstill during a torrential downpour in Puerto de la Cruz in the north of Tenerife. A “shameless” fraudster who stole £300,000 from a vulnerable pensioner and spent it on Botox and other luxuries has been tracked down by Sky News in Tenerife. Pamela Gwinnett isolated 89-year-old Joan Green from her family while pretending to act as her carer during the COVID-19 pandemic. Gwinnett, 63, fled to Tenerife in breach of her bail conditions while awaiting trial and has been living in a picturesque seaside apartment in the south of the island for the last 11 months. Island president Rosa Dávila said that the Island Emergency Plan will remain active while Aemet holds orange weather warnings. Dávila said on Friday: “The night has left numerous incidents such as falling lights, outages, power outages and water accumulation. Several rescues have also been carried out in coastal areas and ravines due to the strong waves and rising water.” Here’s everything travellers need to know about the storm in Tenerife and the latest travel advice. Where has Storm Therese hit? On Thursday, Aemet said isolated cold front Therese had “deepened west of the Iberian Peninsula”. The storm is predicted to travel over the …
