Stephen Colbert, Gayle King, Billy Eichner at THR NY Media Power Party

Just two weeks before he hosts his final episode of CBS’ Late Show, The Hollywood Reporter cover star Stephen Colbert was the toast of the evening at THR‘s Most Powerful People in New York Media party, presented by History Channel, at Daniel Boulud’s Daniel Thursday night in Manhattan. Colbert hugged his colleague Gayle King shortly after both arrived. As King posed for photos on the red carpet, Colbert jumped in and joined her for a couple of playful shots. Later he posed solo, flashing some of his best male model-like stares, before he was spotted chatting with other guests near the bar and then making his way into the main party room. There he held court and could be seen deep in conversation with Rita Wilson as well as catching up with Andy Cohen, THR editor-in-chief Maer Roshan and Boulud, with whom Colbert had an appropriately warm moment with near the fondue station. Daniel Kwan Calls for Coordinated Entertainment Industry AI Response

Daniel Kwan has a lot to say on the subject of artificial intelligence. The Oscar-winning filmmaker — one half of The Daniels directing team behind Everything Everywhere All at Once alongside Daniel Scheinert — returned to Sundance in January alongside Scheinert and their producer Jonathan Wang to support the world premiere of Focus Features’ The AI Doc: Or How I Became an Apocaloptimist, which they produced for another directing team in Daniel Roher and Charlie Tyrell. Amid a busy festival schedule, Kwan ducked into the Pendry Park City to headline the THR x Autodesk AI and Independent Filmmaking panel presented in partnership with the Berggruen Institute on Jan. 25. The program also featured conversations with Joseph Gordon-Levitt, filmmaker Noah Segan, producer Janet Yang and Autodesk’s Matthew Sivertson in chats moderated by THR’s Mia Galuppo and Stacey Wilson Hunt.
