The rest of the world might have already forgotten about Timothée Chalamet’s comments on the ballet and opera, but not Charlize Theron. The Fury Road headliner is furious with the actor, whose Oscar dreams were famously dashed last month. “Oh, boy, I hope I run into him one day,” the combat-trained star tells the New York Times, in an interview published on April 18. At a Variety/CNN town hall event in February, Chalamet told Matthew McConaughey that he doubted the ongoing viability of some types of performance. “I don’t want to be working in ballet or opera where it’s like, ‘Hey! Keep this thing alive, even though no one cares about this anymore,’” Chalamet said. “All respect to the ballet and opera people out there … I just lost 14 cents in viewership. I’m taking shots for no reason.” Chalamet’s comments didn’t surface in the media until the second week of March, several days after Academy Awards voting had closed. Like cherry blossom season, the window for lightweight outerwear is fleeting. If you’re lucky, you might get two weeks of the sublime 50-to-70 degree spring weather that’s just right for stepping out in all those breezy, beautiful jackets currently lining your closet—from leather bikers and nylon bombers to flowy trenches, linen blazers, and beyond. Timothée Chalamet loves a good boot. More specifically, he loves a good American boot–think Red Wings and Timberlands. These are big hitters. The classics everyone knows. But at CinemaCon on Tuesday, during a presentation for the upcoming Dune: Part Three, he swerved. Instead of pulling up in his usuals, the Oscar nominee went a bit deeper: a pair of Visvim Virgils that only a certain kind of fashion guy could clock instantly. The what? We hear you. Visvim isn’t exactly mainstream. Founded by Hiroki Nakamura back in the early ’00s, the Japanese label has built a rep on obsessive craftsmanship and a slightly spiritual approach to clothing: natural dyes, hand-finished details, and lots and lots of references to vintage Americana. Kylie Jenner is making rare comments about her boyfriend, Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet. Jenner appeared as a guest on Kid Cudi’s debut episode of the Big Bro podcast, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter. The rapper and Chalamet have been friends for years, after the actor frequently spoke about how Cudi’s music inspired him during the Call Me by Your Name press run in 2017 and 2018. When it comes to the hypothetical desert-island scenario, most of us probably imagine packing for survival and sanity. (My three desert-island essentials, for example, would likely comprise a pair of crunchy hiking shoes, a machete, and a fat, parable-filled tome à la Edith Hamilton’s Mythology or, simply, the Bible.) But if you’re Timothée Chalamet, on a pseudo-ultra-private beach getaway with his partner of three years, Kylie Jenner, those proverbial essentials take on a different utility. In a 17-slide gallery posted to Instagram yesterday, the Dune star showed off a series of snaps from the couple’s recent trip, the itinerary of which appeared to include running on white sand, jetskiing, and, per his Instagram stories, listening to “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. The dust has settled on the 2026 Oscar season, and the winners (One Battle After Another and Sinners, mostly) have been crowned. But before we close this chapter of Oscar history, Little Gold Men is taking stock of how everything went and handing out a few superlatives. We take a closer look at the year’s various months-long Oscar campaigns, breaking down which ones worked and which ones didn’t. Sinners director Ryan Coogler was a particular standout. As a filmmaker, he’s mostly shied away from press and the spotlight in the past—but this year, he really put himself out there in a way that still rang true to his own sensibilities, such as the viral video of him explaining different types of film stock. Anya Taylor-Joy’s character was the subject of the other major change in Dune: Part Two. In the novel, Paul’s younger sister Alia is born four years before Paul takes back the desert planet from the book’s main villains, the Harkonnens. Villeneuve opted to hold Alia back, though, showing her only in one brief spice-induced hallucination. This wasn’t a bad call—Alia is a weird one. Alia Atreides is what is known in Dune canon as “pre-born.” Her mom (Lady Jessica) took the Water of Life (the spice-based drug that gave Paul his powers) while she was pregnant, which in turn gave her daughter Bene Gesserit powers in utero. This means that, like the other space nuns, Alia has access to “ancestral memories”—the ability to know everything her foremothers knew. In other words, Alia is born a freaky baby with a full adult personality and hundreds of years of experience. David Lynch really went to town with this idea in his 1984 Dune adaptation, but apparently a talking toddler was just too distracting for Villeneuve’s vision. That …

With awards season officially over, it’s time to bring out 2026’s big guns, and Warner Bros is so confident in the nuke that is Dune: Part Three that they held a special screening in LA for the first teaser trailer, complete with appearances from Robert Pattinson, Zendaya, director Denis Villeneuve, Anya Taylor-Joy, and Javier Bardem. (The Lisan al-gaib himself, Timothée Chalamet, did not pull up to Century City, but he did send a pre-taped message to kick things off, as did Florence Pugh.)
